Call it what you want, "gender affirming medical care" is a narrative term for puberty blockers. youre allowing a child to make an adult decision by stopping their natural biological processes (puberty) based on the idea that theyre a different gender. this DOES have long term and short term effects, the scientific literature is well known on this. you can not just suspend and resume puberty with no side effects. we should not be giving this choice to children because they do not truly have the capability to consider the long term impact. let them be children, have their childhood, and transition as young adults/adults if they choose to do so. you can be trans and acknowledge the necessity of free speech. you can be trans and admit that children shouldnt be allowed to make decisions like that. you can be trans and agree with people on the right. @@didibergman2306 I believe in each of the Robert Galbraith books (interesting that her pseudonym is also the name of the first creator of a gay conversion therapy) has one character at least, sometimes a secondary character, sometimes the villain, that the reader is told is male but dresses in a feminine style as a disguise or fetish, who attempts or even succeeds in entering women's spaces for gratification or even murder. It's so predictable that whenever a new Galbraith title is released, I read the reviews waiting for the comments about the evil man in woman's clothes and/or makeup. It's dishearteningly regular.

During one of many attempts to 'promote engagement' (a.k.a. provoke/get likes) Elon Musk posted two pictures that reminded me of the kind of ads used on career women back in the '50s. One picture had a long haired blond woman frolicking with multiple kids on a flower covered hill reminiscent of 'The Sound of Music'. The other was a woman with darker hair done up and a furrowed brow. The implication was the woman who had no job and lots of kids was somehow better off than the working woman. Yep, this is the guy who JK Rowling listened to. The kind of guy who thinks she would have been better off to never becoming a writer and be utterly dependant on a husband to be the 'breadwinner', while having one kid after another.

The funny thing is, despite how much Musk has gone off the deep end, he (unlike Rowling) probably actually has trans friends. Just based on what kind of circles he has been seen in. Doesn't make him a better person, just a reminder that it's hard to actively be bigoted against people you have social interactions with. Others, however, actually have a tendency to share personal connections with people who are sometimes much better than themselves, usually due to knowing each other longer than one of them has been an influential bastard. As for Musk, I don't even think he personally believes in most of the things he's perpetuating. He just found a loyal audience in the right-wing. In essense, he's just a grifter who plays a character. Rowling probably believes what she's saying. Less so with Musk.

To them, it isn't. They choose to ignore facts when presented with them. The reason why one can't argue with transphobes who are this deep down into the rabbit hole is because they have fully embraced science denialism. Another way to phrase it is that they are on par with folks who believe the world is flat because facts and feelings are synonymous with them. Observations, arguments, facts, science, etc. don't matter. This is how Rowling was more willing to deny portions of the Holocaust than to accept that she was wrong.

My question is what counts as producing gametes? If you stop producing gametes are you no longer a woman? If you never produce gametes, ie born infertile? This affects me a lot since going through radiation treatment as a kid you have a high risk of being infertile at a very young age. I am not, but let's say I was, and I have frozen eggs stored, am I a woman by virtue of having stored gametes or by once having had not fully produced gametes? Also btw would the lab tech be a woman by the sole virtue of finishing the production of those gametes?...

The ideas held by the gender people are so disparate and mutually contradictory that they cannot form a coherent belief system. I mean, you have one camp angrily insisting that "gender" is a social construct, and another angrily insisting that it is an intrinsic and unchanging part of a person's essence. They don't even seem to care that they believe mutually contradictory things, as long as they are united in hatred against truth and reason.
