I honestly think he fell first. I think he fell for her the second he saw her for the first time, but he was really confused to understand his feelings. I didn't love the movie, but one thing I really appreciate is that we get to see jus this. Their first encounter is quite different in the movie, but Elphaba is still the first person he interacts with, and we can see clearly on his face that he's immediately enamoured by her, but he thought he was never going to see her again, so he just went on with his life, and then he starts flirting with Galinda just to then see Elphaba again in the library and he's like "hey girl, there you are, I'm happy to see you again" and she's so annoyed by him LOL best couple ever!

@ if anything, I feel like glinda is complicit, but she also has a point: in order to change something, you need to have an /internal/ change maker as well. While Elphaba is standing up for what she believes in right out of the gate, she is automatically ostracized for it and all her activism (at least in the musical) are taken in malicious faith by the non animal public. Gonna is the only one out of the two of them at the end of the musical that is actually able to incite meaningful change from the public. So while I see her as a minor antagonist, she isn't entirely wicked either. She has a logical reason for staying in the capitol -> essentially becoming a politician in order to get her way, even if it's a slow and steady climb vs elphaba's fast and explosive actions

⁠@@kino9643Yes and No. Elphaba has always and would always be ostracized by the public, it’s just that now she’s against the wizard and they’re spreading propaganda (which Glinda is an active participant in) so people now want to actually kill her. Working in the system is great and all, but that’s not what she was doing until like the very end of the movie when Elphaba is all like yeah I’m out, please be good for a change. And they sing that beautiful and sad song. Also while Glinda tried to tech the citizens a lesson and stuff, you can tell from the ending song that they didn’t get it or care to. Whatever message she was trying to invoke fell on death ears which was exactly what Elphaba tried to explain to her before she left when she had her promise not to clear her name. Because the munchkins hate Elphaba more than they live Glinda (which is just the truth). I’m glad that Glinda tried at least. It shows how much she’s grown too. And while she couldn’t get her lesson across she still helped out the animals and ran the wizard and morrible out of town.

I haven’t seen the wicked movie yet but I have seen it on broadway with Ryan as Fiyero and as much as I would absolutely love to see Ryan reprise his role as Fiyero in the movie I just think Jonathan Bailey’s version is gonna be so iconic. Like considering how Jonathan acted out Anthony on Bridgerton and how Anthony’s story is so similar to Fiyero’s. Also how Jonathan has experience with broadway so we know he’s gonna kill the songs. Might be cringe to be thinking so hard about this relationship but i love love sooooo those who are interested may read my yappery below *Clears throat dramatically* So! Something that I've really noticed about Fiyero is that once he begins softening to Elphaba, he really seems to value the intimate privacy of their moments together. a lot of his moments with Glinda were very showy and public and when most of his scenes are compiled together like this, you can see that as well as he hides it, he's not about it. So many of his moments with Elphaba are incredibly tender and private and individual and both of them, being very public figures whether they want to or not, savor moments of privacy. That's another fundamental reason why Glinda and Fiyero don't work. Glinda thrives off public image for the whole story, and Fiyero drifts from it as he grows. That's why Fiyero wanted to run without telling even Glinda. He didn't wanna give any public opinion or knowledge the ability to ruin his happy life with Elphaba. Edit to Add: That transition from Glinda to Elphaba screaming is my Roman Empire

The movie is SO good(I saw the broadway show last year). My mom loved it and is asking me when pt 2 comes out(we’ve been sending each other videos of bts of the movie). I went to see the movie with my parents and some friends and they do not know they will get together(I’m the only person who knows in the group how it ends). Seeing Cynthia and Jonathan sing together is going to be so cute. I wonder how they’re going to do this scene for the movie 9:27 🤭 There’s an interview of the cast doing an impossible Wicked quiz and Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum (I think it was them also, having them 2 be next to each other in an interview is so chaotic and funny) said their would be some new songs so there could be more Fieraba moments and songs.

11:38 physically unwell at all of their acting choices. The desperation in Fyero. The vulnerability in Glinda. The powerlessness in Elphaba. Jfc I’m ok I just need to lie here crying for a couple hrs. This is the vest version I’ve seen. Like, how even when Glinda is hurt she understands Fyero is doing this to save Elphaba and she’s ON BOARD. Not cuz she’s granting Fyero this but bc she know Saving Elphaba is her priority too. I’m ok I’m ok. How you can see Elphaba not wanting to take the out cuz a) it would mean endangering Glinda and b) it would mean leaving Fyero behind AND possibly endangering him too. But at this point there isn’t anything she can do cuz if she defused the situation, she, Fyero and probably Glinda will all be in trouble. And just, Fyero being a menace for love and knowing Glinda would understand cuz deepdown she isn’t a bad person and she actually cares about both him and Elphaba more than anything in life and he was confident between the two of them they would have his back even if it didn’t work out.
