They tragically under-utilized the amazing Broadway/movie actress Keala Settle. She played the character Ms. Coddle, the one who wheels Nessa Rose away. She was the beared lady in the movie, The Greatest Showman. She sang, "This is Me".

I'm wondering what they do with Nessa Rose, the shoes get enchanted so she walks again in Pt 2 (holy ableist batman) but since the actress is actually a wheelchair user, they're gonna have to change that.

I thought she was an ambulatory user and had some use of her legs, but looking into it, it seems that is not the case. It likely depends on if they expand that part much since it's only a couple minutes on stage if I remember correctly. I would assume they would use a body double and close ups as much as possible.

@@kentthompson6407 I think they should completely change it. In Wicked the musical Nessa's portrayal is pretty ablelist overall, including having her magically walk at the end. I'm excited to see them change it.

After all, since Nessa was only able to walk while wearing the shoes so basically a magical prosthetic, like a person regaining use of their legs with a chip in their spine. Their ability to walk is dependent on technology.

I took my husband to see Wicked Part 1 with me, having never known about the musical’s existence. He had a good time and said he does not want to be spoiled on Act II until the movie comes out next year. However, it didn’t take him much time wondering to come to me two days later and ask about #9 on this list. Yes, he was correct…and it’s only a matter of time before more is revealed.

I read the novel, but I don't remember how a particular character becomes the Tin Man. The musical makes it very easy to remember how another character becomes the Scarecrow, however.

In the book Elphaba, to her death, doesn’t see any connection of the Scarecrow or Tinman. She sends “help” to lead them to her castle but when they end up killing her creatures, she deduces that any possibility of them being linked to her childhood is a fantasy. She also ignites herself by accident, waving her broom at Dorothy in fury. Her melting is a genuine accident.

I've seen the show twice on Broadway. The only thing I didn't like in the movie was the Oz Dust Ballroom dance by Elphaba. The choreography seemed very derivitive of the Goo Goo Muck dance in the show "Wednesday". It also seemed to slow down the pacing.

I hope they fix the relationship between Elphaba and the flying monkeys. They were her minions in both the 1939 movie and the musical, so I was very surprised when they were ordered to attack her in the Wicked movie.

The Wizard is the man who had the green elixir that got Elphaba’s mom pregnant with her, that’s why she’s green. Also, the lion cub grows up to be the cowardly lion, Boq becomes the Tin Man, and Fiyero becomes the Scarecrow.

You can say it’s a reference(nod) towards the “beware what is consumed while pregnant.” Also it was sung for her mom to have another drink. Which meant she didn’t just take 1.

Both the mom’s “lover” and she drank it.For some mystery that went to their reproductive organs and that’s why Elphaba is green. That or maybe Elphaba’s mom has been seeing him before that and was unknowingly pregnant. It is funny when you think about it.
