A Detailed Discussion of Pokemon's Living Dex (And Every Variation)

1) Pokemon go allows for many level 1 pokemon as evolving doesn't change its level 2) A competitive dex where nature, ability, moveset, and evs are optimized even if the pokemon sucks 3) I almost did an anti dex challenge in moon when trying to fill every box and shiny hunt rowlet at the same time.

I do like the idea of the anti dex challenge. Feels like a parody of how specific and obtuse living dexes can be. Might do it with Rowlet, not to fill every box just a few,but at least get one of each nature and in each possible ball with at least one from every game it’s in. I think it would be funny to hatch one in every location in Alola.(even if that doesn’t save in home)

I'm working on a (OT) console-dex! 1-251 VC 1-386 GBA 1-493 DS etc... I love filling out a dex in every console generation, but I hate having to release old Pokémon as I make new memories, or not even wanting to use Pokémon again because I don't have a slot in the dex for them.

NPC-Dex: A livingdex containing only NPC trades, and NPC gift Pokémon which have unique OTs. This includes the Plusle from Colosseum, Hayley from Ranch, N's, as well as Curtis and Yancy from Black2/White2 and for example the Let's Go ingame trades.

@@ElPikminMaster I'm building one actually, next to my Eventdex and Living Origin Mark Dex that will include all forms and partly include both genders. I make sure all members have at least the ribbons of the Elite Fours they came through before entering Home. I need a second account soon. 😂

So I see this thumbnail and I'm like "Lol I'm so invested in pokemon I know about all these things...*notices gmax hattrem* oh 😥" So TLDR I once had it and don't anymore! Probably transferred it when I masuda hunted hatenna and grabbed all Pokemon I had in the line. Probably biggest regret behind running away from my first shiny.

Master dex with all Pokémon have your ot and come from the earliest game possible (all kanto Pokémon from red VC) and so on

I need input on my shiny living dex, I’m running it standard style minus regional forms which get thrown in their own box. So my main question is the “earned” part of shinies I’m 100% including basically free shinies like gyarados from LoR, and in game gifts like Cyrrano’s Blitzle because I earned him. But my blurred line is mystery gift pokemon. I’m going to count the HOME Meloetta because I earned it. But what about the shiny zeraora? I participated in the raids and thus earned it… but it’s too free shouldn’t count it? And straight up distributions I don’t want because I didn’t earn it

To be honest, I don't see the reason why "earning" the shiny even matters, much less Pokemon whose Shinies can only be obtained by Mystery Gift. For me, the only thing that matters is if that Pokemon was legally obtained. And even then, I know a few Pokemon in my Shiny living dex was hacked, mostly Legendaries I'd rather tackle later and that one Chimchar I forgot I got hacked (and Genesect, but it's either that or limited time GO raids). But in your case, here's how I would see it: If a Shiny can ONLY be obtained by distributions, or ways you don't consider "earned", take it and count it for your Shiny living dex UNTIL a more worthy method is possible.

Humans should just top a living form +shiny dex maybe with some special ones from older generations that they like, maybe with alphas and/or gigantamaxed, maybe with SOME being competitive. The rest are for aliens, not even no-lifers.

Technically in HOME you do need to have all 63 shiny Alcremie. If you go into the Pokédex section and try to toggle each form shiny you can only do that with all 63 shinies as it does remember the underlying swirl pattern even though only the sweet is different on the shinies.

I had to go back and check. In HOME and SV, if you only register the shinies of just the 9 different swirls, regardless of the sweets, all 63 are registered, and you can toggle them on and off. Turns out only in SwSh this is not the case, as it only registers the specific swirl/sweet shiny you have. While I did not know this before, I'm still not counting the need for all 63, unless you want to make a shiny living dex for SwSh, I guess.
