Plus for a car person like me, having this movie come out one year and Fast And The Furious out the next is a ecstatic time for me, but I just wasn't able to witness either.

Adrian Vegas are u kidding me this is an E39 5 series these cars are awesome many are driving around fine today with over 300,000km, and the build quality is solid, unlike the modern bmws these ones were actually built to last. They arent crap cars i own one and its awesome, they might not be awesome forpitting but they outperform crown vics in everything else
@kai-matthiasbast86124 жыл бұрын
Adrian Vegas yeah true the e39 isnt good at everything, but i dont think its fair to chuck it in the same bag as the shitbox german cars we get nowdays, these 5series are proven to be reliable and are considered the last of the best bmws.... as a police car i dont think itll suit anything other than highway patrol the crown vic is obviously a great car but these two a fitted for different roles, all i wanted to say was the e39 doesnt deserve any hate bc its a really good car easy to work on and parts are cheap

I watched The Junkman (a film he did after the OG Gone in 60 Seconds, since it featured him as a fictional version of himself being chased all over the place by someone trying to kill him and references to the film were rife) and it was the thinnest plot ever to justify the automotive mayhem.

Id have to disagree, this version really shows how hard he was milking that car during the chase more than the official cut, especially when they showed his facial expressions while doing so.

This movie feels like a prototype to The Fast and Furious series, especially since it came out shortly before the first movie. I like to consider this movie "Fast and Furious 0."

It's kinda fun that, at the end of it, Detective Castlebeck(Delroy Lindo) says that Memphis Raines tore up the city...but if we look closer, we'll see that it's the COPS that have torn things up. As shown in this video alone, Castlebeck would be LUCKY if he ended up walking a street beat, considering the number of lives he has, quite blatantly, put in jeopardy. Reckless endangerment is the LEAST they'd get slapped with. But hey, Hollywood. And a GREAT movie.

Old comment, but you're totally right. One night, I found myself surrounded by several nice (and pretty fast cars) on the highway (I was in my Scion tC at the time) and wondered why we're going so slow! (I may or may not have had an absurd amount of jack Daniels and marijuana in my system) I thought to myself that I needed to stir these cars up and get some high speed highway action going.... Little did I know (which may or may not have been a factor of my current state of mind) that the reason all these really nice, fast cars were going slow, is because there was a police car in font of them I didn't see. So, I hopped into the empty space where to major highways intersected and hit the gas. It didn't take long for me to realize my error in judgement. Two cars back (their first mistake) I see blue lights; "FUCK!....fuck it". I floored it. Weaving in and out of traffic, I keep putting cars between myself and those blue lights, utilizing turning signals with each car I overtake..

I may (or may not) have been inebriated and speeding, but I wasn't going to be reckless by not showing my intent to pass in front of a vehicle before I overtook it. I kept glancing in the review looking at those blue lights get further away as I continued to weave through the night traffic. After the cruiser was about five or six car lengths away the blue lights shut off. I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking they broke pursuit due to the high speeds and traffic. Too risky, right? Wrong. After a while I slowed down and kept pace with traffic, but it didn't take long and once again, three cars back (their second and last mistake), blue lights! And, once again, I've gotta floor it. The first decision was my mistake; I got in my car. Everything after that was just me knowing I could make it home, but I was NOT going to jail that night. The chase continued, but again, my ability to navigate the traffic, using my signals and weaving in and out of cars, pushing my tC to its limits..

I gained car after car lead on my pursuer. Finally, after 6 or 7 cars were between us, the lights went off again and I was crossing county lines. My home was merely a few turns away once I hit the interchange. I popped off on a barely marked, no name exit that was a back way to my home, snakes my way up the back road and into my parking space, turned the car off and went inside and plopped on the couch. "Holy shit that just happened". So, yeah, they won't risk lives beyond a point in a high speed pursuit. I totally agree. Years later I'd get pulled over for speeding, 40 in a 35, near a local college. I had just left a bar with a friend from out of town and was arrested for DWI. Moral of the story, don't drink and drive. It's not worth it. I could have died so many times in that chase, not to mention the countless lives I could have take. I had to learn that lesson years later, but no one got hurt. I was fortunate. Many aren't.

Got too actually see a couple of Eleanor recreation vehicles this year at the Barrett Jackson Auction in Houston, one of which was signed by Carol Shelby (With a copy of the DvD also signed). Stunningly beautiful cars in person. Both of which were officially recognized as proper recreations.
