Admitting that I have been binge watching these episodes in the last 2 days! Never had heard of Schiaparelli as a fashion icon, but because of you, yes you, I’m so inspired by her artistic works in clothing. I’m inspired and motivated to purchase some pieces now that it has a revival-I’ll jump on that train! With Chanel I was….sucked up by the hype, but because lately, from what I hear even on KZbin, Chanel is just ridiculous with their pricing and let alone the degrading quality of the bags so I’m skipping Chanel. Thank you for the cool history! Love it!

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you appreciate my series Leslie. I know that Schiaparelli is not a household name like Chanel, but I hope you can spot Schiaparelli pieces in the future and think back fondly on this video.

Very interesting episode! I've heard about Schiaparelli as a modern brand and have seen their dresses on the red carpet but had no idea about the history behind the brand name. I see their designs in a new light now. Thank you for the fabulous video, can't wait for the next first Friday of the month.

This is one of the most fascinating episodes of the beauty history series, though they’re all great!🥰 so educating and entertaining at the same time. And the best bedtime stories ever😉 Imagine owning (or at least wearing!) a couture gown by Schiaparelli, that would have been magical🥰

There’s a great novel all about WW2 in France, the rivalry between Elsa and Coco called The Last Collection by Jeanne Mackin. There’s another novel based on actual facts about haute couture seamstresses working for the French Resistance during Nazi Occupation called The Dressmaker’s Gift by Fiona Valpy. If you like to read, I really enjoyed both!
@AllisonChase2 жыл бұрын
Wow! How did I not know about this? Thank you so much!!

@@AllisonChase My favorite line in The Last Collection tells about how Coco dourly referred to Elsa as “That Italian Woman”.

Knowing what I know about Chanel’s background & even Lagerfeld, it’s hard for me, as a Jewish woman, to support the brand.. How fascinating about Chanel’s insidious jealousy and rudeness towards Elsa S. She was like the “Lady Gaga” of her day! Scaparelli!
@AllisonChase2 жыл бұрын
@@Loralarify Oh my gosh thank you so much!!!!
@AllisonChase2 жыл бұрын
@@Loralarify I can really relate to how you feel. For me I can separate Coco from Chanel because 1) she's dead and 2) she isn't directly making money from me. I don't support creators or brands that I don't respect like Jeffrey Starr for example because I don't want to give people like that my money. I think it's important to remind people that Coco was allegedly a Nazi (I'm not trying to get sued 😂 ) because there is so much free information available online. I trust and respect my audience enough to know that they're smart and know how google works 😂 . All you have to do is type in "coco chanel ww2" and all of this pops. I've seen other creators refer to this as a rumour. Best case scenario is that they're lazy researchers, worst case scenario they're choosing to omit to this information because they think it'll help them get on a pr list. 🤷🏻♀ Anyway that's my two cents on that 😂

It sounds like Cocoa Chanel was the one who was jealous that fuelled her “ hate” for Elsa. Elsa had a wealthy life and life seemed easy for her which sounds like it rubbed Cocoa the wrong way. Thanks for this video. It kept me busy while I was doing my archaic thing of ironing. 😂
