Of course it is. What y’all don’t get is that the blood sugar stays high because the liver is damaged and erroneously spewing excess glycogen - so the blood stays sugary all the time even if you eat nothing. Diabetes is but a symptom - of fatty liver. Walk 10-15 miles a day for a year and I can assure you most all your problems will disappear. Countries in which people walk most daily have the lowest diabetes rates - Japan and African countries. Sedentary lifestyle causes fatty liver.

Only informed and educated comment in the comment section. People with NAFLD induced T2D have impaired de novo lipogenesis. This leads to an excess of cytokines and peroxide radicals in the liver which force body into a vicious cycle of liver fat accumulation and a corresponding high amounts of glucose production due to gluconeogenesis. I have seen patients that maintain blood sugar of 150 even after 5 days of water fast.

This is not always true. Some type 2 diabetics have impaired insulin secretion due to pancreas issues. In this case, T2D can’t be reversed by losing weight. To find out if this is why you have T2D, you’ll need a blood test called “C-peptide.”

@@kreativeke210 If you are a new diabetic you have a very good chance of reversing it. Dr Taylor’s Newcastle Diet has been proven to work. Their research shows that people prefer fast weight loss so they require you to go on a very low calorie diet for 2 months. Meal replacement shakes 3 times a day plus a salad. I reversed my pre-diabetes by doing alternate fasting. First, i did a 2 days fasting for a purpose of cleansing my liver, and ultimately my pancreas, after 2 days, i ate. Then i started my alternate fasting for a week. During my meal day, i would eat an un-restricted diet, i would eat mango, ice cream, doretos, etc. upon checking my blood sugar, my reading would be 130-140, pretty much with in the normal person reading. That is pretty the cycle of my life now, alternate fasting with signs of diabetes. Before my alternate fasting, when i would ice creman and fruits subsequently, my blood sugar would reach 200. But not anymore after doing an alternate fasting. I think my liver and pancreas has been healed from fatty liver and therefore my insulin functions normaly as it should.

I’ve just started this program via the NHS. I’m on a 12 week liquid diet, and 1 year, (weekly/monthly) follow up. It’s 800cals per day, with shakes and soup and a nutrition bar. I started one week ago today and have lost 4lbs and 4cm off my waist. I can’t wait to see all the benefits, but mainly I don’t want to have type 2 anymore and all the complications that go along with it. So if I’m lucky, I’ll fall into the percentage that go into remission. 🤞

A lot of people, based on the responses I'm reading, are getting bogged down in the specific weight loss protocol Prof. Taylor used in his studies, and missing the essential point, which is the weight loss itself. The speed of the weight loss and the specific diet used are not relevant. You do not need to slam liquid shakes and restrict yourself to only 800 calories per day to achieve the same results in Prof. Taylor's study. The essential takeaway here is to lose enough weight to dip below your "PFT," which is your Personal Fat Threshold. This is different for every person. For me, it involved losing approximately 15 lbs., going from 147 to 132, which was sufficient to reduce my liver and pancreatic fat enough to convert my fasting glucose level from pre-diabetic range to normal range -- a roughly 10-point reduction. I did not use a liquid diet to achieve this goal, and you don't have to either. Prof. Taylor has been very clear about this in his book.

I was diagnosed in April 2021 , with an A1C of 14 and fasting reading of 400. Within 4 months , only by changing my lifestyle , weight loss and exercises, particularly brisk walking , my A1C was down to 6 and my fasting levels are within normal range. I only took medications for the first month after diagnosis. I now feel healthy, more energetic and eat all kinds of food but in moderation. Now my A1C is 5.9. I really don’t know if this is called reversal or remission or what? I feel my body now, after losing 12 kg, is dealing properly with adjusting and regulating my sugar levels.

How did you change it? I have been doing 800-1000 calories a day for a month and my a1C went down to 6.2 from 10.5 - I am eating low carb but I kind of hate that as a long term solution. I really want to be able to eat regular things every so often in moderation but I am scared. I am even afraid to eat a little sweet potato. hank spooner It's not that simply. He was only 36% successful 2 years out. These people probably had insulin resistance first which made them susceptible to weight gain. He seems to be focusing on the results of insulin resistance, not the cause of it. So the people revert back to having diabetes. I think that research should go to the cause, and reversal of insulin resistance. I predict that most of the 36% who don't have diabetes 2 years out, will have it in another 5 to 7 years because he is treating a symptom not the cause.

@@Lyn777 I have PCOS, and insulin resistance due to PCOS. And overweight due to PCOS. Instead of treating the symptoms of PCOS with contraceptives, I decided to change my diet and lifestyle. In just a couple of months (having lost very little weight), my hormone levels improved significantly. I simply limited my dairy, fruit and carbs consumption, ate less animal products and more veggies and removed processed foods and oils from my diet. So I'm following an 80 percent vegan, whole food, low GI diet, with intermittent fasting - 2 meals a day, portion control. I'm guessing it will help prevent diabetes as well. But it's fixing my hormones, and it's making me lose the weight.

He used a 700 calorie liquid diet which is very difficult for people to maintain over 8 weeks. How about a 14000 or 16000 calorie real food diet over a longer period of time?. This is more attainable. Would it have the same results?. Also after 2 years only 36% of people in this study were diabetes free. So this program failed for the other 64%. Therefore, weight loss alone is not the primary answer. I think that the focus should be on insulin resistance which may have caused the weight gain in the first place. There are people who are diabetics that are as thin as a pole. So sometimes fat is not a factor in diabetes. I'm glad that this study worked for some people, but much more study is needed. Again, I think that it has to do with insulin resistance which can create a fatty liver.
@johncommon4294

Lyn a good thought pattern, but I've just discovered, there is a lso not only belly fat, not only liver fat responsible for the insuline resistance but also a pancreas fat. Also we are not machinery, perhaps there is a treshold to be met in the cure. But your idea of insuline resistance seems to be the key issue.

@@elisabethdakak878 Intense exercise can spike blood glucose. This is a natural and normal process when the body is exposed to stress. Intensive exercise is interpreted by the brain as being stressful and this results in the release of hormones that stimulate the liver to release sugar into the bloodstream. The spike should be short lived and you’ll probably find that blood sugar is improved in the following 24h. If you want to avoid the spike stick to moderate forms of exercise (light jogging, bicycle riding or power walking), and try to keep exercise sessions to around 30 mins or less. Good luck!

What is in the liquid meals he recommends ? How long can an adult survive on 800 kcal/day ? I think that again sombedy tries to put the horse to puch the cart. The beginning of dabetes comes from daily swings in blood glucose/insuline level. These high and low glucose levels causes dissiness after meals and cravings/hunger some 2-3 hrs after meals. After some years or decades of this swinging, the cells becomes resistant to the insuline and the pancrease have to puch out ever increasing amounts of insuline to manage the glucose level. When the pancrease reaches its limit of insuline production, the glucose level will increase on a permanent basis and the typical diabetes symptoms are detected for the first time, unfortunately 10 to 20 years after the beginning of the process. I got out of my T2D by drastcally reducing my 'healthy whole grain' carb intake to abt 5% of energy intake, increase consumption of fats and protein. I eat as much real food ,made from scratch, as possible. Vegetable oils/fats I moved from the kitchen to the garage and use as environmentally friendly lubricants.

These lifestyle changes does not help the pharmaceutical companies where the money is. So there is no promotion of lifestyle changes. Unfortunately most GPs and doctors find it easier to prescribe tablets as they too don't understand this and sing from the hymn sheet where it has been sung before. Tablets turns into a vicious circle of bigger dosage as your weight increases and your sugar increases. Education is the only way out but you can imagine promoting it needs money - even viral messages are promoted heavily before they become viral. Having said all this it is much easier to take a tablet then to control food alone as it is also a social phenomenon.

It seems as if there's three types of fat. Adipose which is right below the skin. Intermuscular, I can't remember the term. And visceral (did I spell that right?), That covers the organs. This visceral fat, in excess, causes many health problems more than the wonderful research Dr. Taylor has done. As one lowers the adipose fat, as I've done going from BMI 38 to 23, the visceral reduces also. The ratio of adipose to visceral fat varies for different people. Don't fall for the trap that this problem will go away without losing weight by simply eating properly and exercise. YOU HAVE TO LOSE WEIGHT, TO HELL WITH FAT PRIDE. I'm not a nutritionist, but I don't think there is one diet or exercise that is superior in lowering visceral fat, just find the dietary principles that one can lose weight and sustain healthy weight permanently with the best nutritional components.

I'm just hoping if I really get on this and do the hardcore fasting that I can knock the diabetes down (which I think is clear) but also hopefully restore the foot to full, normal feeling. I was diagnosed with type 2 a year or so ago and didn't have insurance so I was sort of half dealing with it, using metformin, eating "better" but not really what's required as I now see. I was very athletic when I was younger so I'm hoping I can recommit to a lean body, high degree of fitness, etc. and beat this thing. I'm 5'9.5 and weigh 210 and should really be down around 160-170. But getting that fat out of the liver and pancreas is key.

@@thedudeabides3930 Try keto diet and one meal a day or two meals within a few hours of each other. My fatty liver was the first thing to go. I think the body prioritizes it. Getting into ketosis sucks, and you'll likely feel ill for a while, but after a week to a month, you'll feel great and be addicted to your health. It can't hurt. As for the neuropathy, TALK TO A PHYSICIAN any way you can immediately! I think I was lucky enough that my neuropathy symptoms seem to have gone after 3 months, but I've read some people take a lot longer to recover if they do at all. Either way, it can't hurt to try. Eat lots of leafy greens, lean meats like certain fish and chicken breasts, and non-root vegetables. Figure out recipes you like, don't be afraid of butter and salt (you'll need the healthy fat and the sodium), and drink lots of water. I couldn't stay hydrated enough when I was first starting. Had to drink 3/4 gallon a day. I've also noticed the more water I drink, the more lbs. I seem to lose. Probably all in my head, but I believe it, stuck to it, and now it's habit and routine. Look up Ken Berry, Dr. Berg, and Jason Fung's videos on Type 2 Diabetes. A few different takes and theories, but they don't contradict each other. Again, get addicted to improving and maintaining your health. If you're disciplined enough, and your body responds like we hope it will, you may be taken off your medications within a few months. My a1c is now in the 'pre-diabetes' range, and improving. I'm not taking ANY medications. I even got off the blood pressure pills this week.

@@a-totally-random-person Thanks for that. All good advice. I will be doing a nerve conduction test, seeing a top flight podiatrist and neurologist in the next couple weeks. Regarding diet, I am going to do a fairly traditional fast to start and go from there. Water, broth, and something heavier if I need it. Then will switch to a keto type approach. I'll let you know how it goes.

@@sumitagg1 You can ask you GP for a Catscan (I think) to see the liver and pancreas and measure the amount of fat internally. I think that's the key to reversal but I too am struggling with this at this time. I am hoping to reverse by doing the fast 800 diet starting Sunday. I don't know if my Doc will test me either to see my liver and pancreas. I did have a catscan (i think) before diabetes and was told my liver was good- probably not anymore. I think you can ask to see your liver period and they have to do it. Are you in America? UK? Here in America I just ask for what I want and if the Doc says not I ask them to write down in my chart they denied the testing and they will normally give you the testing then just in case something is wrong. Can be pricey but we really need to take our health into our own hands.

This is not new information it's been around for decades. In the 80's (Oprah Winfry) popularised the Optifast program which was a popular liquid diet that by losing significant fat loss helped those with diabetes as well. The Optifast went bankrupt. You can't maintain liquid diet forever and people return to their old habits. I would suggest a fasting regiment that's free, fast every other day or what ever works for the individual and eat vegetables, and some protein but stay away from starchy carbs.

It would be interesting to see what impact a whole food, plant based diet would have on type 2 Diabetes? I understand it is helpful because all the carbohydrates consumed are from unprocessed food and the fibre content means they are digested slowly, traditional diets of rice and vegetables seem to be protective. If WFPB eating can be used as a rescue diet there would not be a need for shakes etc. Another plus is that veggie meals can be delicious, especially if spices are included.

Hi, I ain't fat but do have grade 1 fatty liver with type 2 Diabetes in your video which is no doubt a good one however its focusing on overweight people in that case a bit of low calorie diet is essential agreed but In case of someone like me with moderate physic starving will cause muscle loss even in fatty people for that matter body burns everything equally!! So to starve means expect a reverse in type 2 diabetes and loose muscle tissue that absorbs sugar in blood ?!! And what about medications? That u can't have without a meal It starts with fat and also takes away muscles...when we starve the most affected organ is the BRAIN it needs minimum sugar to sustain normal liver function... And again considering it works If u fast reverse diabetes and get back to normal diet what is evidence % that u won't again get type 2 Diabetic ? With a much more elevated blood glucose because of livers habbit of starvation Also my dear the smoothie diet even without added sugar that your recommending is a high fructose diet !!! Fructose has no use for energy gains it is converted by liver to triglycerides!! The most dangerous fat for stroke I believe a spike of anything is harmful rather do everything in moderation Never skip meals when body asks for it just consume way lesser right? Essential Carbohydrates protein fats minerals nutrients vitamins good water The body require al this to sustain Life.. Any elimination of above will lead to vitamin deficiency and cause instability in harmonal Balance isn't it better to burn sugar and energy after meals by excercise rather than starvation? What have u to say about all this sir? Ok with all above even if I accept to agree will the diet provided be sufficient for me to do strength training? Bec I believe strength training really burns sugar from blood.. With a daily low calorie diet my muscles will go in a mode of malnutrition and reduce its size means I'll loose it... without a Balanced meal they won't be able to repair themselves and it will also lead to cortisol and adreline release in blood the bad harmones!!! Again if u say don't excercise what about the growth hormones? This impact the effectiveness of metabolism Please reply it's not a debate we Wana know what's the truth...

The muscle loss thing is a myth. Military studies showed it was something ridiculously low, like 4% body fat, before the body prioritised muscle as a fuel source. It would be counter evolutionary for the body to use up it’s strength for hunting and gathering before it’s stored fuel reserves.

This is leaving out lots of parts of my understanding of type 2. Hormones play a big part, and we need to make sure all sugar and starchy vegetables have been removed from our diets. I have been following a ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting for a while. In 3 months lost 50lbs and reversed all pre type 2 symptoms. You never feel hungry. Calories are a completely inaccurate measurement of the bodies potental energy absorbtion. Calculated by litrally burning food and testing its energy output. This makes no sense, we are not furnaces. Think of it like sugar and starch are light kindling wood. If you put kindling in a furnace, you get lots of energy output quickly. Now if you think of leafy greens, salad, vegetables, fats, nuts meat and fish like larger logs or coal. The latter is a much slower release of energy. Different food groups are dealt with differently by our impossibly small cellular furnaces. Also we are really good at recycling energy. The more you use kindling the more you store those sharp peaks of energy and save them away for later use, the more you do this the less efficient you become at recycling until the body stores all of the energy all of the time (insulin resistance). Here's where you get fat and or develop type 2. Once you stop adding kindling and start adding more logs, you end up with a consistent energy release that no longer over uses the recycling systems the body has to offer. The hack then comes in, you stop adding so many logs, just enough so there's a reasonable flame burning all of the time. And guess what, if you put less fat into the diet, we send out to our stored body fat and collects some logs from there instead. You get rapid results and feel amazing. Dr Berg and Thomas Delauer, are fantastic sources for beginners, epically Dr Bergs short easy to digest videos on youtube. Also I'm a few parts into the obesity code which is really helpful. Modern nutrition doesn't want to accept the health benefits of reducing starchy foods and sugar, look into it yourselves.

Changing the style of eating is not easy, specially if the food you are eating is not to your liking, Thats why i have type 2 diabetes and using medication at the moment, I am eating what ever i like, Making sure sugar and added sugar is not more than 34 g per day, and it is working fine and i can eat whatever i like.
