WHY WE CHOSE THE KARA MIA SCENE: All of the scenes featured were chosen with one goal in mind, to showcase clips that represent the real state of both countries in terms of the dramas they produce. We must emphasize that aside from the crying scenes, both countries do have better slapping and kissing scenes. The intention for the slapping scene was to share clips that originally evoked laughter from the audiences when it was aired; this was to lighten up the mood after watching the heavy crying scenes. Both scenes were intended as serious by the creators of the respective dramas. Had we chosen a serious scene from the Philippines, a serious scene from South Korea would have been chosen as well. We noticed that some of our Filipino viewers were only upset that we chose that scene from Kara Mia, but please do keep in mind that *even the kissing scene of South Korea was not their best either.* Many other dramas do have much better kissing scenes, but we can’t deny that such scenes do exist in Korean Dramas, just as we have dramas like Kara Mia in the Philippines. Again, like our OPM reaction videos, our goal is not to “boast” what we have to offer, but rather to see a different perspective from another set of eyes, and learn as much as we can from their insights. As a Filipino, I totally agree with their observations and suggestions for the improvement of Filipino teleseryes even though it felt bad for me that these are how other people initially see, observe, and receive when they first watch a Filipino drama or Philippine teleserye, and it reminded me on how sometimes poor our quality of entertainment and drama here in the Philippines are. It's saddening, yet it is real and true. I've been always commenting on some of these dramas before and other ones about their lack of sophistication in terms of production, in the execution through direction, in the well integration of some or more CGI depending one genre, in the music and sounds used and their appropriation, and most especially in the cinematography which includes lighting, angles, color scheme, tints and shades, color corrections, frames, etc. which the Philippine dramas are not much exploring and experimenting into. Also most scenes are clichés, repetitive among various dramas, and sort of having stereotypical scenes, plots, plot twists, storyline, story arcs, characters and character description and dimension, and others that they keep on using as their formulas for drama over and over again. Yes they tweak it a little, but they are still revolving around family, love, romance, friendship, amnesia, car scenes, road or street accidents, killing scenes, hostage taking scenes, terrorism, shooting scenes, explosions, kidnappings and or abductions, warehouse scenes, one or more supporting character will die, policemen are slow in responding to crimes, protagonist-antagonist can fight almost anywhere even at the hospital, funerary, mall, escalators, stairs, pools, beaches, streets, etc., and or the antagonist will pay a big penalty in the end like becoming mad and crazy or mentally ill, dying in a severe scene, or put into jail....but sometimes there are plots when the antagonist will easily get out of jail to revenge the protagonist, and the cycle between the antagonist and protagonist winning and loosing through story arcs is always repetitive among Filipino dramas. There are also cliché, repetitive, and stereotypical concepts and storyline revolving on sisters, couples and a lover mistress, fighting over family inheritance and wealth, sibling rivalry, twin or triplet rivalry, siblings/twins/triplets/brothers/sisters getting separated or growing separated at birth or at a young age, a female antagonist will usually be a rich and mean looking lady or a mad and crazy one such as being a psychopath or sociopath, or the female antagonist being the mother-in-law, a sibling, a parent, or usually the other one girl in a love triangle or the mistress of the guy protagonist. There is also this stereotype and repetitive cliché of the female antagonist to wear fancy or expensive clothes, having raised eyebrows, full-on makeup, sometimes cunning and seductive, having mean eyes, being rebellious, and having a foul or potty mouth but with added class and sophistication sometimes. A typical male antagonist is usually someone in power or authority, a gang leader, a criminal, ex-convict, drug dealer, the other guy in a love triangle, having groups of men or criminal followers that he can command and use to achieve his goals, or he can be a rebel, a terrorist, and having the typical bad guy look, a strict but good-looking or a mean and scary face, have a good built, have a foul or potty mouth, being rebellious, can be an older or a young adult guy, having a power or an ability to use weapons, skilled in fighting, or growing a beard and or a moustache, and can also be seductive and cunning. A repetitive cliché and stereotypical representation of a male protagonist is being a good-looking, cute, nice, but brave good guy, family-oriented, some have an affair, poor or maybe rich, sometimes having personal troubles or bad past, sometimes a clean conscience kind of guy, but usually females are the protagonist. For a stereotypical female protagonist, she can be so nice, so good, beautiful, charming, pretty, usually weak at first, then becomes strong, empowered, independent, or strong-willed in the change of plot or near the end or for a next story arc, usually portrayed as rebellious nowadays, sometimes religious, sometimes being portayed as a typical and loud Filipina lady, sometimes naive and innocent and sometimes not. Also, main female or male protagonist most of the time have a bestfriend, bestie, or a buddy friend supporting character to fuel his or her ego, to fuel his or her conscience, to balance the protagonist, or to be his or her sidekick and main supporter. These are the usual cliché scenes, stereotypical plots, typical characters and character description or dimension, storyline, concepts, content, story arcs, setting, and genres Filipino dramas explored and are exploring into. They may change stories and all sometimes, but still some of these elements can still be found in Philippine teleseryes.

If “Ang Probinsyano” was executed better, it would’ve been really good. I mean in terms of plot and storyline, it’s really at par with k-dramas. The episodes about Judy Anne’s multiple personality killer, the President’s family’s death and retrieval of corpses were really good. I mean they just need to work on it more, seems like 5 airing shows a week takes a toll on the shows even though they start shooting way before the first airing dates.

I agree with technology and cinematography improvement for Pinoy teleseryes. K-dramas have smooth transitions of their scenes and storylines are carefully studied to connect with each other. While our teleseryes are influenced so much with the number of viewers and there are shows that were prolonged. Oftentimes, prolonged dramas make the story dragging. However, I do believe we have some good teleserye. One of my favorites is Killer Bride. But just as these people suggest, directors and producers in our entertainment industry have a lot to improve. :)

I agree with their comments regarding the quality of dramas here in the Philippines. It's really lacking in comparison to Korean's way of executing and editing dramas. The reason why I watch more K-Dramas is because of how good they really produce a drama. Of course, when you have watched or have seen the plot of too much dramas you would be able to see that almost all dramas have the same plot and it's almost all love-centered. I think the storyline of dramas here in the Philippines is really great and we really have great actors/actresses who could portray characters, it's just that the editing and production of teleseryes is very disruptive which makes it less interesting.

I believe that in Filipino teleserye is more emotional than K-Dramas. Most filipino teleserye are hard dramas. Slapping are realistic while K-Dramas are very light drama. Cant even slap in the face that will actually marks. Cat fight don't exist in K-DRAMAS. Filipino teleserye has it everytime

This is what im saying .. Many filipino fans of Kdramas and other dramas from China and Japan is that they are craving for something more High Quality productions that you barely see in Local shows.... we cant blame the viewers why they choose foreign shows because our local shows dont want to spend more for their productions ... the story lines are also always the same like its either Love Team, Comedy or Cheating husband or wife..... our local entertainment are just staying in the safe zone thats why they dont improve

What a bias and hypocritical comment. You're comparing Filipino produced shows to those countries? Those are considered "rich" countries compared to a 3rd world country - Philippines. Of course there will be a big difference in production budget/quality. And you're saying the Filipino story lines are the same? Dude, did you even watch the video? The Koreans in this video literally said KDramas are mostly the same love story lines.

@stanseventeen8214 жыл бұрын
This is true. It’s not like those clichés are distinctly Filipinos. Even K-dramas fit in those clichés. It’s just distinct based on cultural aspects of the country. So yeah.

Foreign dramas and shows now tap more into new genres, concepts, contents, and stories like solely focusing or mostly focusing on teen struggles, teen or student social issues, teen life or school life, documentary style drama, sole female protagonist point of view, sole male protagonist point of view, sole child point of view, uncommon suspense and thrillers, art horrors, artistic and slightly experimental genres, coming of age stories, serious social issues, unique individual or personal stories and experiences of common or average humans from a single or few points of view, epic series, historical or historical-based/inspired dramas, general world or respective country's mythology, epics, and pantheons, psychological dramas, psychological horrors, psychological suspense, or psychological thrillers, psychological crimes and investigative dramas, apocalyptic dramas, post-apocalyptic utopian and or dystopian drama, dark fantasy and themes, themes featuring cult or tribal and indigenous beliefs and realities, dramas focusing on PWDs or people who are physically different or unique and their stories, dramas focusing on mental health issues and characters experiencing or with such issues, dramas focusing on LGBT+ realities and characters, dramas on feminism, environmentalism, machosism, toxic masculinity, equality and equity, tragic and melodramatic genres, good forms of satires, etc. There are some Filipino dramas which fit in these genres, but only a few can be named, and most are not shown or aired in free TV, instead they are mostly in Iflix, Netflix, Iwant, etc., I guess also maybe because of their uncommon genres, stories, characters, sensitive topics, graphic contents, etc. that they are not common in national free TV. For me, some Filipino dramas on free TV like Indio, Amaya, Katipunan, Ilustrado, Sahaya, Katorse, Bagito, Angelito and batang Ama, Tween Hearts, Parasite Island, The Killer Bride, Rhodora X, Budoy, Niño, The Richman's Daughter, Destiny Rose, Onanay, Asawa Ko Karibal Ko, My Husband's Lover, Dyosa, Bagani, Encantadia, Etheria, Rounin, The Cure, Genesis, Lobo, Imortal, La Luna Sangre, and some few others I didn't mention can fit in these uncommon Filipino TV genres. Though the other clichés and common or stereotypical elements can still be found in these dramas, but their general story, concept, idea, content, and genre is quite uncommon especially in Filipino free TV or national TV. After all, I can see that Filipino dramas are improving nowadays, creativity-wise, production and execution-wise, and story-wise. They are now experimenting and tapping into more new, uncommon, less or non-cliché, less or non-stereotypical feature genres, and or more artistic, documentary, and or experimental genres. New budding directors, writers, cinematographers, etc. are now venturing out from the older, repetitive, and stereotypical genres, concepts, ideas, contents, characters, and stories, and that's beautiful for the Filipino entertainment and TV industry. I still and will forever have high hopes for our beloved Filipino entertainment and TV industry. I know that venturing on or with these new and uncommon genres and stories is really risky, tough, and even to the point being impossible given our culture, traditions, customs, beliefs, norms, politics, education, perspectives, general mindsets, worldviews, knowledge, production and financial or logistical limitations, limited talent and creative resources and human workforce, issues within our creative and cultural industries, budget, viewership and audience shares, quality and quantity of skills and talents or expertise and specializations, quality of education and training in arts and humanities, our own socio-political, socio-cultural, and socio-economic issues and problems as a country and as people of our nation, and what stories, genres, contents, characters, and concepts or ideas the general and local masses are used to, what they like, what they will choose, what they are able to follow and understand, able to appreciate and accept, and able to consume and digest as an audience or viewer. Still, our Filipino entertainment and TV industry when it comes to drama are trying its best to give the best for us, and I really do appreciate that, and am grateful and thankful with that. Mabuhay ang kultura at mga sining ng ating bansa! Mabuhay ang Telebisyong Filipino! 😁💕😇💕😊 Dios ay bendeci con ustedes y vaya con Dios!

@elsplanet4 жыл бұрын
Hello~ it was simply a segment to release tension. Furthermore, the main goal of our video was to show what both countries actually offer. The kissing scene we presented of Korea wasn't Korea's best as well, there are a lot of dramas that actually do show what a real kiss looks like. But in reality, Korea still airs kisses like the one we featured. Just like Kara Mia, while we do have better dramas (with better slapping scenes) we can't deny that we still produce dramas as such. We hope you understand our video's main goal! ☺️
