Maria Clara at Ibarra is literally the only drama that will give you bipolar emotions. One moment you cry hard then a few seconds later you laugh like crazy. Recent episodes are really heavy but there are some really unexpected funny moments and dark humor here and there 🤣. The best part is the off screen jokes/role plays the actors have

Maria Clara at Ibarra hits different if you understand the language. Since it uses two different ways, one taglish which is basically the ones we use nowadays for casual and the other one is the old way, the more formal and elegant way...

I love Maria Clara at Ibarra and I am an American. I do know enough Tagalog and Spanish to understand but for international viewers they really need the English subtitles. I though love love love it and think it could be more open for others to love and appreciate with the English subtitles available on ALL episodes. Please please GMA put good English subtitles!!! I have friends I know would love it too if they could fully understand. Here's to hoping I can share this story soon. Freaking out as there are not many episodes left!!! I will definitely re-watch it.

Louder! That's actually how Korean content was able to penetrate the international market! Both Fansubs, and official subtitles were made readily available for the viewers. However, I believe making fansubs is quite difficult as of the moment due to the copyrights of the Filipino TV Networks. This video of mine was blocked by a Filipino TV network several times (KZbin said no one would be able to view it.) So I had to work around it to finally get to a cut that made it through. 😅 Filipino music companies used to be like this too until reaction videos became more popular so they eased restrictions, and blockings. I hope they'd do the same for Filipino Teleseryes. 💜

I think there's a lot in Philippine literature and history that would be really great for content or re-adaptations. Now that Maria Clara and Ibarra opened a portal to this historical/literature genre, I would love to see more serious interpretations of Florante at Laura, Ibong Adarna, The Epic of Lam-Ang. or stories set around pre-colonial era, hispanic era, and even WW2 era. Personally, I'd love to see a Oro Plata Mata-like TV series about the hardships Filipino families endured during World War 2.

The CGI on Voltes V still cannot be compared to US, Japan, and China in terms of editing quality. But this is best one so far that is produced here. As one of the Multimedia Arts students who studies media with passion, it really boost our hope for the Philippine media industry, that it is now starting to improve. Hoping that it will continue and will serve as a stepping stone for young Filipino artists to first try to support local before deciding to find a job outside the country. And thank you always, EL for promoting FILIPINO Culture to the world! We really appreciate it.❤️
@luciferhill9105

Yes, that's also something that many would look forward to have as an improvement here and that is the productions. Philippines should at least focus on arts and multimedia, as an artist it just hurts to see the fact that people here treat arts as a hobby only and don't think of how valuable it can also be starting from the production of every movies, anime and also komiks. And honestly there are a lot here at our country who loves animes as well and I'm also one of them, they should at least improve on those things as well and to at least make better stories because we never know that those changes might boost up our country and culture too.

The tv show Maria Clara At Ibarra was based on two novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, both written by Filipino patriot Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The two novels were originally written in Spanish language before translated into Filipino Tagalog and English by some scholars. Hope you gonna love the two novels if you read them.

Actually Voltes V is more of a grandfather of power rangers and voltron. The anime version of Voltes V was first aired in the 1960s in Japan. Its like the grandfather of all sentais ( japanese for squad action series). Its just a delight that we are actually recreating it as live action and reintroducing it to todays generation

if filipinos really want to get to the level where kdramas are at, they need to stop what they've beein doing for decades. some filipino dramas last for years. convoluted storylines and characters. the duration of the drama always depend on the ratings, there's no set timeframe and number of episodes. the writers just play everything by ear and theres no solid storyline, they just make stuff up along the way.. kdramas last 16 to 21 ep. and every episode is like a movie. theres a clear plot thats been written before the drama even started filming.

I hope yall really get into Maria Clara at Ibarra it is honestly so good for so many reasons aside from its obvious high quality production and it being extremely well-thought out and researched, the best part is it being an eye opener yet again on whats actually happening around, it's bold and it can get controversial but very educational and sparks the patriotism we always had in us, filipinos. Well-balanced comedy and romance and lotsss of drama and tragedy but hey, who doesnt love that? Hehe yall wont regret it. The novels it was based from have inspired our ancestor heroes to die fighting for us, thats why theyre very very special. The series been a buzz since it came out and its ratings i think are starting to drop now lol bc theyre in their last 2 weeks but srsly, give it a chance pls 🙏 no regrets i promise!

These ones are kind of old, Mara Clara (not the same genre but it is a teleserye classic), Forevermore and Got 2 Believe. The first one is heavy drama but with really good acting, the other two are rom coms. For historical ones I recommend Illustrado and Amaya. Keep in mind that not all these dramas may be aesthetically pleasing compared to say, kdramas but the plot, acting and romance is well done. Recently there was a teleserye last year though, He’s Into Her a rom com with quality aesthtics

Just to add to his/her recommendation, I just remembered after reading his/her comment that I was hooked to the following as well: Ina Kapatid Anak, Princess and I, Immortal, Bantatay, Endless Love, and Rodora X. Just kindly search their genres for your reference. If you want to try Filipino movies, you may also check out My Perfect You, The Hows of Us, Barcelona: A love Untold, 100 Tula para kay Stella, Heneral Luna, and Goyo. The last 2 are historical genre then the rest are romance. There are much more series and movies I can think of recommending, but you can start off with the abovementioned shows.

Voltes V Legacy was a live action series that was said to be released this 2023. It was all based from the original Japanese cartoon anime Voltes V owned by Toei Company Ltd. The cartoon show was first aired in the Philippines through GMA 7 networks back in 1978. So it was quite a shocker by GMA to come up with this idea of live action version to all Voltes V fans when such a show hasn't been aired for a very long time.

Philippine drama was already big in the 90's, early 2000's we have a lot of exports like "the promise" (pangako sayo, it was very popular in asia and africa) impostora, etc etc. The problem is we don't have consistency in pitching our dramas further bec we tend to be in favor of the foreign one's esp when taiwanese dramas and eventually the latter k dramas, we stopped making quality dramas but instead we copy and create adaptations. There are also teleseryes like kung mawawala ka, fantaserye like encantadia that deserves to be exported. Our genre is really diverse and we don't focus on romcoms but more of socio realism. Hope the streaming era will create opportunity to export our works since philippines is a soft power when it comes to social media influence. Also our OPM has been popular and recognized abroad since.

The thing with Filipino teleseryes is that they mostly they have more than 100 episodes per show so you can't really binged watch them in 1 or 2 days. Unlike kdramas most episodes are just 16 episodes. The recently finished FPJ Probinsyano series is like thousands episodes it air for like 6 or 7 years mon-fri so you really can't watched it in one sit! 😂😂😂😂

How about reacting to old tv series that have "not completely embraced" genres like The Rich Man's Daughter, My Husband's Lover etc. or more of historical movies/series

I hope you have a 2nd part of this or an update if they actually watched the drama and see what they actually think of it. That would be really interesting. 😁

A good intro to Filipino film is She’s dating the gangster. My favorite Filipino movie. I haven’t watched any Filipino dramas yet.

Before Dirty Linen there was Killer Bride. If you're a fan of Thriller you must watch both of it. ABS's thriller/drama supremacy.

They are older than me but I managed to watch some parts of the original Voltes V anime, but all that they had mentioned was Power Rangers, I am definitely unhappy that nobody was able to know it, BTW I am Filipino.
