Davey Johnsone, Elton's guitar player, deserves much respect for his contributions to the band as guitar player, along with other instruments and backing vocals. He apparently is in charge of band when Elton is on the road. Great guitar player and musician who deserves more recognition.

Great song, great album - my favorite Elton album. It’s Elton at his peak, IMO.

I bought the album shortly after its release, it still stands and I agree w/ you. A zenith of sorts. Perhaps it was because my music taste was expanding. Hits were still being generated but, after this....

I do like the album but i prefer Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, maybe because it's a double album. Some great songs on there.

Captain Harri and his Fantastic Reactions is what this channel should be called. The coments on this song are blowing me away. Love the comments and I have always loved the percussions on this song also. His early stuff is diamonds in my ears.

One of my all time favorite albums. Was in my teens when it came out and obsessed with Elton John. Ran out and bought it immediately. Spent countless hours playing it over and over and over.........I still know all the lyrics!❤

Beautiful choice of song-still sounds so incredible after all these years! Yes indeed, not only is the song a biography about Elton ("the Captain") and Bernie ("the Brown Dirt Cowboy), but the entire album is an biographical theme album. Such a solid, great album! Definitely want to hear more tracks from this album. Great choice Darren! Wonderfully entertaining Harri!

This actually came out when he was at his peak. The entire album IS fantastic.

The entire Captain Fantastic album is autobiographical about the early years of EJ and BT at the beginning of their UNPARALLELED musical career, as is the same on their follow up album The Captain and The Kid, about their fame and musical Journey, some 40+ years later! HAPPIEST Holiday Blessings and the BEST in 2025 and BEYOND to you and yours Harri, as well as ALL your YT fans! As always from here in beautiful Calgary, Alberta, Canada! Shawn

The first album to ever enter the Billboard Album Chart at #1 due to advance sales. Followed by Elton's next release "Rock of the Westies" which was the second to accomplish this. The song "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" was the hit of this album and chronicles the events surrounding Elton's engagement back in 1969 and his breaking it off. He got drunk and tried to commit sui**cide by sticking his head in an oven. Elton turned on the gas but left a window open. Bernie came in the room and said something like, "You Dummy, you're wasting all the gas!" and pulled him away from the oven. True Story.

This is my favourite EJ song. Bernie writes the lyrics, and Elton somehow puts music to them. Listen to Goodby Yellow Brick Road (the album, not just the song) and think about how Elton figure out the music. Magic

The whole album is about Elton John's and Bernie Taupin's beginnings. The LP included a biographical booklet drawn in cartoon style of their early days.

I think there is no question that it is autobiographical and that Elton is Captain Fantastic and Bernie is the Brown Dirt Cowboy. I am currently reading Bernie's book, Scattershot, and he was certainly a country boy. The album has so many great songs and well worth a listen.

Another great Elton John song that was never a hit from my understanding. The big hit off of this album was Someone Saved My Life Tonight. I love the song Captain Fantastic, and I also love the 2 songs the finish the album, We All Fall in Love Sometimes and Curtains. There is a great live version of these 2 songs on KZbin that I highly recommend.

Bernie Taupin is the Broen zFirt Vowboy. Elton is Captain Fantastic.
@babylonsister11814 сағат бұрын
I agree! The early songs are diamonds. Just bear in mind that since Bernie Taupin wrote ALL of Sir John's lyrics, to try to put them in relation to Elton's life is pointless!
@HarriBestReactions14 сағат бұрын
