Best song off his best album. It's great when he starts the live show with this. Berzerkely Greek Theatre summer 1983. Only F----n $20🤑 He recently retired. For a definitive live version you need to go to young Elton. Great live stuff of this song on KZbin like Elton in Central Park or from other concerts in the 70s.

I've probably heard a hundred version of this Live. My favorite is from Madison Square Garden 2000 "One Night Only". HIs vocals are very good, but the band is extremely hot and extremely tight and the music drives forward like a freight train. The timing is much better and tighter, and the drumming is better (sorry Nigel) and an additional guitarist makes it even more epic. I encourage you to listen to that version, plus the "Live in Rio 1995) version which is just as good or better. The timing is a little off on this performance, like they can't hear each other, and aren't a hundred percent on the same beat in places. And the lead guitar part is muted for some reason.
