It's so sad to hear Elton say that he hasn't seen Lennon in a while and that he only lives down the road. Who would have known that only 3 months later he would be killed.

Elton John's piano playing is so unique, he kept it simple but played it brilliantly, and completely made it his own. I feel that Elton John's influence on piano accompaniment in pop music is huge, we tend to forget how important his style is for piano players.

For anyone interested, in Elton’s autobiography, Elton says there was party after this central park performance and John and Yoko just happened to turn up to it. Although it was the last time Elton ever saw John, it’s nice to think that they did see each other before Johns death

Elton is very adorable (and sexy)! And he is so serious and passionate about his music, and the talent is so natural and far from forced. His music is absolutely stunningly beautiful, as so is his heart. I actually have a letter Elton wrote to me, wishing me good luck, love and encouragement when I was in a hospital. It is so damn obvious why this man is as famous as he is, and also why he is so loved by his family and friends, whom he has hundreds of! I don't understand who the fuck wouldn't like Elton John, and I really have to emphasize that with "fuck" because it really fucking pisses me off, sorry. He's got a heart bigger than the whole world, and talent bigger that the universe! I love you darling Elton!

Not so fun fact: Sir Elton John performed this less than 3 months before Mr. Lennon's death.
@borhaptrash54543 жыл бұрын
Even less fun fact: he met John Lennon shortly after this concert on a party in the evening, they were talking and having fun just like they had in the 70s, but Elton was pretty tired and left quite early. Elton and John agreed to meet again some time soon. But they never did

The best ones always make it look so easy. I feel like Elton could have been rocked on coke and booze out of his mind and still slayed the audience. He knows his instrument so well, and he knows his voice and it's limits. True genius of a musician.
@fanaticaldueling63375 жыл бұрын
Ryan Merritt Well when people are coked up or intoxicated they follow basic instincts. Here’s a perfect example. Bob Dylan is currently an alcoholic, and he goes on stage staggering drunk. Yet he can still perform. He said when you’ve played those songs as long as he has, it sticks with him, and when he sees the audience he knows what to do. Only difference is Elton can still deliver an amazing performance drugged up.

Imagine...being among the thousands in that crowd, so thrilled and caught up in the moment...yet not having any clue what would happen to his dear friend within just mere months... In hindsight, it would be both a blessing and an honor to have taken part in such a monumentous event, regardless of whether or not the performance of this song would foreshadow events to come. HBO taped this event for broadcast. And I do recall watching an encore presentation of it some years afterwards. It truly was a joy to watch Sir Elton in all the reputable flamboyance he is known for onstage. I believe this was just before he decided to purge off the majority of his stage wardrobe before it all went up on the auction block years afterwards.
