This is the second most successful recording of all time (only behind White Christmas which had a 55 year head start). Despite that it has only been performed by Elton John on three occasions: the funeral rehearsal, the funeral, and the recording session. He has said he will never perform it for a 4th time unless explicitly asked by Diana’s sons. That is character, to have the most successful song of any living person and not perform it out of respect for your friend and her family. How many artists would do the same? Bravo Sir Elton!

I think going through a lot of the personal issues and drug/alcohol addiction when he was young, that many pop stars deal with, then coming through clean and sober with his health, helped him become a better person.
