After attending the world premiere of ROCKETMAN at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, Elton treated guests to a special surprise performance at the afterparty. Joined onstage by the film's star, Taron Egerton, the pair launched into a duet of 'Rocket Man'. The song is one of many Elton hits Egerton sings throughout the movie, which received a four minute standing ovation when screened earlier that evening.

I haven't seen the movie yet but I am looking forward to it. I have always loved Elton's music. In fact one of my first ever 45's (and for you youngins who don't know what that is that is a single play record or disc) was Benny and the Jets. I love Taron Egerton's version of Elton's music. For all the haters listen to what Elton said he did not want someone to lip sync his music he wanted the real deal and I would say he got what he wanted. Brilliant as usual from Sir Elton John.

This movie resonated with me on every level. I am all the more grateful for Elton, if ever there were such a thing, because I had adored him prior to it. I'm sad that I am so young and didn't get to be a part of his tours. I am, however, grateful to be a part of the revolution of freedom that he has worked so hard for and towards, and I will advocate every minute of my life to and for him, his work, and the many others doing just the same. The legacy of Sir Elton John will live on. Forever.

He is a once in a lifetime talent. I saw him in 1971 at Dania HiLi in Miami. It was just him and Dee and Nigel. I was 19 and it was and is to this day the best concert I ever heard. Many people can play the piano but there is something about Elton that can make it sound like an entire orchestra.
