It was the first song recorded in a cassete that i gave my girlfriend 33 years ago. Now I am 57 and she passed away, she left last weekend. I miss her but I still have this song alive here with me. RIP Cassia.

I'll probably reflect on this song for a long time, long after my dad passes (hopefully many years from now). it reminds me of him. I sang it for him on his birthday last year. The most wonderful man I've ever known. My father.

I met my wife while overseas and fell in love immediately. My ship left and we wrote letters. I copied down the words and mailed it in a box with this song the first cut on my mix tape of songs for her. I worked her Visa, she came to California, we built that house, 4 daughters and 5 grandchildren and 35 years later THIS SONG has always been in our house.

I met my father when I was 39 years old. It turned out to be one of the most special experiences of my life. We talked for months every Sunday before I met him in person. As I got to know him, I felt blessed. I played this song ALL the time because I felt how wonderful my life was with my dad in the world. I had him for 2 years, as he passed away from throat cancer in 2006. I never felt cheated but blessed that I had him in my life for any time at all.

Telling my age here, but when I was in college, I had a boyfriend that was a DJ for a radio station. My college was about 2 and a half hours from where he worked, but if I sat on my dorm room window ledge with my radio antenna pointed out, I could pick him up. Every night between 9-10 he would play a song that I knew was just for me. This was the one he played the most often. In 2 weeks, I'll see Elton John in concert again for the 5th and probably final last time.

My Fiancé from the time he met always played his guitar and sang this song to me and it was always so moving every time he sang it to me with all the Love in his eyes pouring out of his Heart into mine and I could see that he was feeling every word. He was sadly taken from me when he was killed on his Motocycle 40 years ago before we could be married, on his way home from work being stuck by someone who didn't see him. I Never stop missing him & This song will always be very Special & deeply meaningful to me and always moves me deeply often bringing tears....., it will always and Forever be my favorite song. He taught me so much about Life and I was Blessed to share the years with him I did. I always listen to it especially on his Birthday and dedicate it to him.

I always sang this song to my Jeri after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It would help her calm down and become "grounded." After she passed in 2018 I could not hear this song without crying. Even the first couple of cords would bring me to tears and I would have to quickly turn it off. My heart still hurts when I hear it. My eyes still shed tears when I hear it. It is a great song that brought her so much joy for me to sing to her (even though she would say I was a horrible singer, which I am). But I loved her so much that when I sang this song to her she knew just how much because it is all about love! I will sing this to my new granddaughter and she will know every time she hears it, her Grandma loves her so very much!

@goatbut29 Taupin writes the lyrics and Elton writes the music.

@@musicinveins2000 Isn't that what I said?! Taupin deserves the same respect for making it all happen.

I genuinely didn't know about Bernie Taupin. I'd always thought Elton John wrote lyrics and music. Learn something new every day.

Always makes me think of my Aunt Val. My father and all his family were in a target and Rocketman the best of Elton John was in a CD bin for $9.99. We bought it and listened to it all night. We drank wine and played Dominos. It is one of my best memories ♥️
