More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer. • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens. A quick background on her and her career: She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages. She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today. She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She had been living for years in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship. She just moved back to Italy a few months ago (temporarily?). She became very famous in Quebec and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music). In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary, packed with masterpieces (covered by many great vocalists later on). But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan. She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance. She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then. Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), … With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there. Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her. She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep. He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara. Out of my mind I can list: ○ Adagio (She wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Mademoiselle Hyde (she wrote it and is the original performer), ○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version) ○ Ascolta La Voce / Vocalize (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know") She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love". And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva). Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara. Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it. Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs, some have Lara as a role model and big inspiration: ○ Floor Jansen (Adagio), ○ Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime), ○ Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie), ○ Morissette Amon (Broken Vow), ○ Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace), ○ Cakra Khan (Broken Vow), ○ Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow), ○ Regine Velasquez (Broken Vow), ○ Dmitri Hvorostovsky (Adagio), ○ Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade, Je t'aime), ○ Forestella (Je suis Malade), ○ Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow), ○ Gigi de Lana (Broken Vow) ○ Julie Anne san Jose (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Rimar ( Adagio, Broken Vow, Know), ○ Il Divo (Adagio) ○ Daria Bentsa (I guess I loved you), ○ Sarah Geronimo (Broken Vow) ○ Laura Bretan ( Adagio, Caruso), ○ Jackie Evancho (Je t’aime, Caruso and Broken Vow, BV rewritten as « Imaginer » by Lara for Jackie), ○ Amir (Je t’aime), ○ Vitas (Adagio), ○ Anastasia Luna (Adagio), ○ Jeck (Je T’Aime), ○ Evgenia Fanfara (Adagio), ○ Anna Eriksson (Je suis malade), ○ Choi Sung Hoon (Je suis malade), ○ Soprano Turetsky band (Adagio) ○ Majda Roumi (Adagio), ○ Harrison Craig (Broken Vow), ○ Petra Berger (Adagio, Broken Vow), ○ Katerina Maslova (Je t’aime, I guess I loved you) ○ Sevara Nazarkhan (Je t’aime) ○ .... NB: Lara did cover Caruso , Je suis malade, and Love by grace, these are not her originals, but I mention these here as the related artists were attracted to cover it again after listening to Lara’s version. Today, Lara still has an amazing voice and tone and can still reach the 5th octave with resonance ; she still offers these emotive renditions that are her unique signature. In June 2022, she kicked off a WW tour and stunned her fans once again with 5 magical concerts in Canada. She completed the europe part in September/October and I attended a concert from this tour. It was packed and she was again spectacular. On April and May 2023 she had again a wonderful concerts in Tbilissi, Georgia, and in Ouzbekhistan and Kazakhstan. Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

Thy for your execution, m8. It was very interesting to read all these whole information. One thing I want to say from my opinion. Yes, there exist a lot of brilliant singers(you count a few), but her skill and performance of this song reached to the highest level I’ve ever heard and seen. Because she didn’t sang this song only, she lived it. I heard and saw never a presentation of a song, which transported such much emotion like this. When I heard this video the first time, I saw it without English subtitles. I don’t speak French, but I cried.

@@wtsalive8210 she often gets in trances interpreting a song and as you say she lives the song. Her vocal mastery allows her to forget about showcasing and focuse on the emotions, the words and the story. Check the second link I provided in my comment: in this other rendition, she is even more immersed in the song.

“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and composed the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during his own Paris concert in January 1995. It was a triumph. So he sat in a front row seat and asked her to sing it again alone. Lara also had made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power. Serge and Lara became good friends and performed several other duets later on. The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3m2qp5qiKynq7s is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella. Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance the En Toute Intimité, 2003, Paris Olympia version is even more dramatic kzbin.info/www/bejne/iaqsfZeIdrSGbpo

Lara has been a vocal coach (for The Voice and Star Academy, in Quebec and France). One contestant asked her how to sing deep emotions without impacting the voice. She replied: « sing the emotions in your head, feel the emotions in your heart, but keep your throat free ». I think this is a perfect illustration of your insightful comments on vocal skills and emotions coupling/decoupling. She worked and continues to work so hard on a daily basis to totally master her voice, body support and breath that now she is free. Free to surrender and focus on the emotions and the meaning of the words, on telling the story. She is the best at this. You just started to cratch the surface, you will love exploring this rabbit hole. You will find all of us here. 😂 I will post a recommended playlist and some details on her bzckground and career.

for those who wish to there is an english subtitled version of this performance available as well... as you watch you can see she's literally being transported into the song & is living every word she sings.... You stopped too soon...At the end when the audience is cheering you actually see her re-enter her body & come back being slightly shocked realizing oh right I'm not alone here there's a moment in the song where the lyrics speak of her pouring her blood into her lover & she symbolically slits her own throat with her thumb..so powerful

As you are a singer, and in complete relation of what you try to explain in yout comments at the end, you should listen and analyze her song "You're not from here" from same concert Lara with Love. Some things could retain your attention. It's not a song that many reactors listen to, but it's one of the favorite of her fans.

@@ElvannReacts Thanks. I will not say I hope you like it, cause I know you will :) Just an advice, don"t take the first result on KZbin research, the live video from 11 years old, cause it has a very bad sound. Take another restored version, or ask someone to check the sound before you react to it to be sure you don't a bad sound. 😉

Wow! "...craftmanship at it's finest. No one has ever said that about our dear Lara. Oh, you've said and painted such a beautiful picture of Lara and truly has earned it and deserves all of this kind of credit. I totally agree too that her music she brings to the table the complete connection between technique and expression. Again, like in "Adagio", but even more so with this song, Lara's facial expression both before and at the end of the song is that she's utterly and wholesome engrossed and one with the story. She sheer emotion displayed vocally and physically throughout the song cannot be mistaken for anything less than real. You, Elvann, in the way you shared that bit about yourself and the way you expressed yourself in this entire reaction has brought me to tears. Tears shed also because of your pure honesty about yourself too. I appreciate you and especially what you did here. I wish we'll for your future. Blessings ❤

Excellent summary in the end!... Next go with j'etaime (Live in Paris, 2001), you can of course also listen to the official version, the Song is yet another masterpiece.... but that particular live performance has an unexpected surprise in it

I also love the version Belle Perez and Karsu did on Beste Zangers. Just check it out for yourself. Lara is the queen, but I think Belle and Karsu did a very good job with this emotional song.

FYI "malade" has another meaning than sick. Here it means like crazy. Someone will say " Mais tu es malade ou quoi" that can be translated as "But You are crazy or what" Here she says that she must be crazy because she is in love with someone that he doesn't seem to love her back as she should be loved. Also please look how she react when the song is over. We can see that she was living the song and emotionally it takes her a little to get out of her state of mind. Also noice the beginning of the song its like she is becoming another woman. That's amazing as a result she is living the song. If I remember correctly, that song was song by Serge Lamas.

Merci! 🇨🇦

I personally prefer to hear it (especially for the first time) with the French & English subtitles. Without subtitles you focus more on the spirit of the song. But you (and we) have no understanding. I encourage you to listen with the subtitles so that you understand WHAT is being communicated, and then without, so that you see more clearly HOW it is being expressed. As it says in the bible: *_“I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also”_* (1Corinthians 14:15). The same goes for listening. Also, consider how it would enrich the experience for your listeners, to actually *_understand_* these incredibly moving, poignant & passionate lyrics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mofZnaCmpJqab80

On one thing i don't totally agree,is the fact that you're implying that she is a "actrice".The kind of emotions she puts in this song, can't be acted. At the end of the performance you can clearly see, that she is not even on this world for a moment. That was not acted for sure.
