@@stephanieellis5399 Thank you Stephanie for your comforting toughts, it is very much appreciated for someone like me, as I mentionned in another comment, mentally I've suffered most of my adult life more than 40 years from depression and lost close members of my family including my father when I was 33 and still living at the large family home, I witnessed health decline and refusing help leading to his inevitable gesture, we didn't get along but I respected him for his financial success in business and love and loyalty for our small family, and he respected me because I've always had a good concience, never drank like he did and lead a clean life free of troubles, still in character, we were complete opposites, you would think knowing in advance and the stopping of the sufferring would soften the loss, but the love for a father remained and when an afternoon I opened the locked door of his office in our house and found him sitting on the couch, he had put a bullit through his heart with his prized Winchester, the shock, the imprinted image, I'm introverted with a strong mind but the loss and funeral tore part of me apart, it's very hard if not impossible to get over something like that... I guess depressive people experience loss in a worse way, my mother that I loved died 12 years later, yet couldn't bring myself to attend her funeral, could not relive that... Except for a couple of years. being involved in two romantic relationships, I've always been a loner by choice, I found out at a young age that I could spend my free time better educating myself than wasting time on partying and inter acting with others, in my area of living I just coud not find people that matched my curiosity and interests, so I mainly focused on myself, you make sacrifices when you choose to be alone but the same can be said for buiilding relationships and family, for what I sacrificed, I gained knowledge and education and ultimately strong independence. But still the dark cloud of depression never quit hovering over my head, the impression sometimes of seeing the world in black and white, the difficulty in feeling joy or laughter, you feel abnormal... When I hit bottom in 2004, I tought my life was over and tried to end it all, botched it and survived, those claiming suicide is an act of cowardness, never made a real attempt or never really hit the bottom of despair, chose to attempt survival, got help, got treatment and survived to this day, what is hard is being alone, you almost depend only on yourself for treatment being afflicted by this curse, for my character and knowledge, I depend on science, education and an inherited and cultivated good conscience, spirituality and religion can be needed as anchors for people and I'm fine with that, not for me, which makes me a rational realist and observing today's world a pessimist So each day is more or less still a struggle like many of my peers, I have to find beauty in the world to make life still worthwile contribute positively and live it the best I can until it's time to go, not easy tough, the more you learn, the more you see positive, but the more sensitive and aware, keeping up with current events and unfolding history, for me ignorance is not bliss, so negatives creep up everyday to cripple possible hapiness, many people kill themselves every day, with so many people on earth, some are bound to end up this way, help is out there but happiness sometimes seems to be a hard to find commodity, for me some days are better but some are hard, the days when you go to sleep and wish to never wake up, then wake up the next day and feel better, I never wish to give up, but lived my life the way I wanted, a real privilege, my father used to say many times in his life, he who worshiped money, said I would not go through this again, even for all the gold in the world... I'm grateful for having experienced life but getting older, I agree with his saying, one lifetime is enough for me...

One of the most memorable comments by a reactor on YT about this song was Julia Nilon's observation (paraphrased) that when Lara first sings "malade," it sounds like she's saying, "I'm hurt'--when she sings it next, it becomes "OK, now I'm gonna run you over with my car." Lara Fabian is the most skilled combo of vocalist, storyteller, and actress I've ever seen perform. This was recorded from a live performance done in ~1999-2001. Yes, Lara deserves much much better than 'Je Suis...' describes. FYI, she's now 52, happily married, has a daughter, released an experimental album called "Lockdown Sessions," is a coach/judge on the Canadian vocal talent show "La Voix," and is planing to tour again soon---she's still adorable. You sound like you are trying to analyze her. She is only interpreting a song that was written by a man (Serge Lama) back in 1973. Bonjour Amanda que j'aimerais parler aussi bien l'anglais que vous le Français 👍 cette chanson a été écrite par un grand artiste français monsieur Serge lama, elle a été reprise par l'immense Dalida et puis par Lara qui continue toujours à la chanter dans tous ces spectacles. Au moment de cette vidéo Lara est au sommet de sa gloire et veut conquérir le monde, mais ça ne se passera pas comme elle veut et très vite Lara ne se reconnaît plus dans l'artiste qu'on veut qu'elle soit et fini par faire une dépression elle part en Sicile pour reprendre des forces et heureusement nous revenir plus forte et indépendante . C'est ce qui me plaît dans cette artiste, non seulement elle a du talent pour écrire à une voix exceptionnelle mais en plus elle fait ce qui lui plaît, même au risque de déplaire à son public. Lara est une talentueuse écrivain, elle parle souvent d'amour mais aussi de sujets qui lui tiennent à cœur comme l'homosexualité la maladie dans de très belles chansons que je vous invite à écouter et à découvrir. Elle ne voulait plus vraiment continuer aux US après les conflits qu’elle a eu avec Sony et toutes les mauvaises expériences qu’elle a vécu là-bas. La déception de la réalité de l’industrie américaine, l’acharnement médiatique francophone, ses relations compliquées, l’anorexie…le tout l’a rendu dépressive et ces expériences sont probablement la raison pour laquelle ses performances sont aussi magistrales, aussi émouvantes…car outre sa technique incroyable, elle nous livre son cœur.

Hello Lara’s rendition is the best and will never be equaled. But I would like to introduce you to a 4 male crossover harmony group callrd “ Forestella” from South Korea. When they performed their first song ( the Freddy Mercury classic“ Bohemian Rhapsody”) it catapulted them to international stardom and they now have millions of followers worldwide. They were all at one time solo performers. One has a very deep bass/baritone voice. Another, a high operatic voice, and the other two group members (who were also solo performers at one time) combine to render “je suis malade” a confluence of absolute total passion and performed live on stage in front of thousands of fans. I thought no one would ever come close to Lara’s soulful rendition. And no one vocalist will. But when you have 4 members and the best vocal harmony group in the world, well. ( all I can say is have your Kleenex handy) Some of their other songs I recommend are Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound Of Silence”, Guardian “ Angel” that will lift your spirits and transport you to another world-especially during these troubled covid times. And the hauntingly beautiful “ hijo de la luna” But “ Le Suis” remains my all time favorite. I’ve watched it 5 times and each and every time it moves me to my depths. C'est une oeuvre d'art. L'art est rarement fait de bons sentiments. Les bons sentiments font du tres mauvais art.Le reste releve de la psychiatrie,cette chanson n'a rien à faire sur un site de santé mentale, pas plus qu'un poème de Baudelaire, une peinture du Caravage ou quoi que ce soit de véritablement artistique où des artistes ont transcendé leur douleur pour la transmuter en art. L'art c'est ce qui peut donner du sens à la douleur. La chanson n'est pas d'elle. Elle elle la chante et l'interprète magnifiquement. Celui qui l'a ecrite était effectivement dans une relation toxique ( et ecrire ça l'a aidé à donner du sens à ce qu'il vivait, et subsidiairement à nous un chef-d'oeuvre). Btw, that last note lasted a flat 17 seconds. Other recommendations you should look out for from that same concert (From Lara with Love) are Adagio, Caruso, Broken vow, Perdere l’amore, and You’re not from here. Then move on to other live performances from Lara like Mademoiselle Hyde, Tango, Extrait de yentl, Ave Maria, Je t’aime (Live from the concert “Nue” in 2002 in Paris), and Je me souviens (which is an ode to the province of Quebec and its culture).
