I laugh at most of the comments. This movie was one person’s take on Priscilla’s book and in fact Elvis was a human and made as many mistakes as any other human being. What was truly between Priscilla and Elvis will remain between them. I was and still am a huge fan and don’t dwell on his shortcomings. He grew up dirt poor and went on to be very successful. He was no angel but it’s not for me or anybody else to judge a dead man. He was and still is an American music icon and will always be “The King”.

At 14 I took my moms credit card and booked a flight from chicago to nashville, checked into the hotel with my best friend and we stayed there a week. Some 14's are different from other 14's in terms on knowledge and 'thinkin we're grown' i look back on that now at 33 and wonder what i was thinking & glad something horrible didn't happen to us.

Vernon Presley acted like he was scared to death of his only Son. I think it had to do with the fact that it was Elvis who took them from having so little to having so much. Also I think that Elvis sometimes looked at Vernon as a Punk for not being able to take care of his Family properly back in the day. In another Movie about Elvis featuring Jonathan Rhys Myers (Bend It Like Beckham) he sternly reminded his father of that fact.

Gives me a totally different view of Elvis, he treated her like cr*p really. Everybody slags her off, but she put up with so much. She was only 14, her whole teenage years and adulthood was dictated by him, then after she had Lisa he wouldn’t have sex with her. Lisa Marie said “my dads whole side of the family is a chronic situation” when she had Oprah over. So she knows what’s her father’s side was like. Even Lisa has a little attitude like Elvis, but that’s genes I suppose and she said she fired people as s child as her dad did, you learn what you grow up with. I find Cilla very well spoken, soft, wouldn’t argue with a fly, would be easily dominated and truly loved him. After Vernon died of course it all went to Lisa Marie, but she was too young and should thank her mum for making such s huge successful, as apparently he died nearly broke. The things do belong to her daughter, she’s not making money off him like all or most of his friends did. Graceland is theirs and rightly so, even if divorced, it’s Lisa Marie’s and Cilla seems to do all the hard work while Lisa keeping marrying and divorcing. She’s made a huge success. I don’t like his personality at all in this film, but I suspect it’s truthful, I don’t see Cilla lying about him. I think he had a narcissistic mother like mine, which means you are “as one”, you are entwined, you can’t help that. It’s what the mother does, you don’t know where you start and they end. It also creates an attachment disorder no other child and parent have. I know the day my mother dies I will have to as I was only here for her. I’ll have no purpose anymore. It’s a complex disorder and hard to explain. I like Cilla and I even like Lisa as at least she doesn’t act up for the cameras all sweet as light, she shows her “barking” as she calls it. In a narcissistic you argue, that’s what you do daily, they used to throw plates of food at one another, there’s s 5 hour documentary from the guys. It was normal to Elvis, Vernon, his mother dodger. After his mother Cilla knew him best. Good for her and the legacy she created.

I want to see the new elvis I hear that he really did sing and play the guitar but needed to learn to dance want to see it. I was young when this was made have it on vhs but want on dvd. I thought the actors would be cute together both are married she plays dianne on yr and he played on pet cemetery I think he us now in his 60s and her in her 50s look them out susan walters and Dale midcliff. I was born in 78 so I was young when this was made. Love this movie.....

I have to remember it's her version he Is not here to tell his side but I don't think she woulf lie about it. I love the flashbacks they were so cute together. Did he have a relationship with Natalie wood and Marilyn Monroe. She was pretty. Yes she would do anything to be with elvis even betray her parents her parents took a lot. What a wonderful dad what she said to him she forgave him. Elvis wants her at graceland and he means it. He gave his word to her father but elvis wants her moved. Priscilla did not know what to day when Vernon did not like this. I have been to graceland at that time wr could bot go upstairs but would love to go back priscilla says his spirit is there. She's all alone except grandma in that house. Maybe priscilla reminds him of his mom they were close and maybe they are alike. He was so close to his mom good thing he did not catch her up there. If her spirit was up there it would freak me out. He must have took it hard when she died I am close to my parents to. Love the grandma.

She could have sued or taken him to court but Red pleaded with her not to say anything. His Staff were so scared of him, and even Jerry Schilling who would later work with The Beach Boys admitted he regretted not taking initiative when Elvis got sick. Graceland in many ways like Foxworth Hall. yes!! becaue of the many prescription medications he was taking. there were some he had to take. elvis also had a double wedged toes stuck together he had a deformity i believe linda thompson brought it up and said she tease elvis about it. and other meds he needed to take dont forget his mom was a drinker she got sick over it and died but i believe even while she was pregnant she was drinking and that cause the death of the twin jesse and left elvis with the deformity he had on his foot his double wedged toes

@yasudab1 i know this answer is long over due, but no. This is merely a recreation of graceland's interior. Graceland's exterior in this movie is used also in ELVIS AND THE BEAUTY QUEEN..Elvis' bedroom looks a little like this, but a little different. You can see his acutal bedroom in the expanded version of THIS IS ELVIS at the beginning of the film. Upstairs is off limits to everyone, I don't know how in the hell cameras were allowed upstairs back in 81.

You know what was so sad. As a Student she didn't do anything in terms of The High School Experience. No Yearbook, Student Council, Cheerleading, and she didn't even have any "real" friends. She must have been so lonely at times. Even when she wanted to "work" Elvis discouraged her. After seeing how hard Mama worked he felt like no Woman who was with him, should have to. It was like a "Prison" in it's own way.

tattletalestrangler1 I will always believe what changed them for the worst was Lisa Marie’s birth. When their sex life changed after her birth coupled with Vegas and the constant touring... I think that’s what got them. She waited for years to go all the way with him and then gets pregnant right away. Then it took him months to make love to her again and she wrote that it was different when he did. They did start to have sex again but she said it wasn’t the same. He was so delicate and careful with her. Not passionate as before. I think that, as I said, plus the constant separation took its toll. I always wished they had had another child around 1972 or so. A little boy. I think that would have done them a world of good. I know babies don’t fix things all the time however this time I think it would have saved their marriage bc she wouldn’t have left him pregnant and then maybe he would have been with us longer. But I love Priscilla and don’t blame her for anything. I think she did the best she could with what she was handed with the age difference. As she said with her age now she understands him so much better now. She was ten years younger than him.
