Obrigada SPA GUY.

Miss this place, Was stationed there Bco. 4/67 armor 88-91. Before you got to the front gate memories were flooding. What an awesome time. Love me some Germany. The roundabout with the elvis statue was not there when I was stationed there. It was just an intersection. Of course neither were any of the buildings across the street including the big orange one. there were none of the houses or big blue buildings over by the back forty wash rack area(13:08), All that area was just trees and nothing. If you look at 13:02, way out in the field, there is one lone tree. This was known as bandit tree, 4/67 was the "Bandit" battalion. We would at least once a month run to this tree, touch it and run back, believe me, its farther than it looks lol. Thank you for this, Best video I have seen of the base. Thank goodness for old Glory!!!

Spa Guy, you succeeded in making me homesick again! Although I was just a little shaver at the time, one of those gates is where Elvis pulled over for us as he was driving out and obliged us with autographs and pictures. Being as that was nearly 60 years ago, my memory (I was only 9 or 10) does not recall which of those gates it was. I just know that we visited Ray Barracks, circa 1959/60, and caught Elvis as he was driving out to go home for dinner, as he called it. I sent you a picture of that event a while back. Again, thank you ever so much for doing this! Had I known you were going and were going to get stuck with a manual rental, I would have been glad to go along and hold the camera for you just to see all of this again! 😉

Thanks, Billy, for this wealth of information! I enjoy all of your Elvis videos. My grandfather was in the Army at the same time as Elvis, at Fort Hood and in Germany as well (1957-1960). I wish I had more information about where my grandfather stayed in proximity to Elvis's location. I so wish he was still living so I could show him these videos. He would have loved to see all of this and reminicse. Would all of the guys deployed in Germany have stayed at the Ray Barracks from 1958-1960?
@SpaGuy6 жыл бұрын
Thank You for watching.. All of the troops wouldn't have been at Ray Barracks there were many bases they would have been at.. Elvis was at 2 different ones and Charlie Hodge for instance was at a base close to Ray Barracks but not there..

Spa Guy, it is beautiful at that base, and the city too. The base has been kept up, only saw some discoloring on some roofs. (I knew my paternal first cousin's husband was stationed in Germany, ɓut did not know, not too long ago, he was stationed there. He never saw Elvis though. I think a friend of my cousin's, who her husband was in the service, they went where Elvis could be. They waited and waited, did not see him, and gave up. I know they were disappointed, I sure would have been too!)

Thank you Mr. Spa Guy and Ms Ashley Drew for your hard great work in bringing us the fellow Elvis fans all the terrific videos on Elvis trivia you have investigated ( aka, Sherlock Holmes). No you don't want to get arrested in Germany or anywhere else outside of America ( let alone in America), lol ! I had heard from others in the military that when Germany went EU that is when many U.S. Military bases were closed there. A friend went back to visit old stomping grounds in Germany from service time there and was surprised at the changes. Again, thank you Mr. Spa Guy and Ms Ashley Drew. Looking forward to part 4 and other Elvis trivia videos to come. Tighten up. Lord bless.

The motor pool was across from the barracks. They combined all maintenance personnel into one barracks and attached some to each company. That was early 1983.

The tower looks like a WW2 anti aircraft tower, they were also often used as shelters during the war as they were constructed using thick concrete and had steel doors and shutters, but it could also be a water tower as well.

actually Fuhrer means leader. But that is okay.. Let's enjoy Elvis and not get into the WWII mood.. Rather strange that the place is so deserted (and as said well kept).. thanks for uploading.

Spa Guy haha. I didn't want to debate just let you know. Fire would make more sense as Adolf probably was related to Lucifer.. Bad marketing indeed 😝

I got to correct you. They called him the " Führer " , but that means " leader " , not fire.🤭
@SpaGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yes..
@bakkie81353 жыл бұрын
Hitler was called Führer. Führer is the German word for Leader. Fire in German is Feuer. So littarly Führer Hitler means Leader Hitler, not Fire Hitler. Although it would have been much better if they fired him ofcourse. 😉
@tankerman1356 жыл бұрын
That tower is a WW2 flak tower (anti-aircraft)
@purdyquibb6 жыл бұрын
I was always told this was a water tower that was used as a memorial to commemorate the residents of Friedberg who were killed or missing in the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871), the First World War and the Second World War.
