My dad introduced me to Elvis when I was about 12. I honestly think he's one of the best artists from the new wave era!

The Attractions are one of the most underrated bands in the history of rock, fantastic players who were more than able to hold their own behind the genius of their leader. Love them.

I love the wordplay thirty years later. Was merely a kid when this came out and I played it over and over on my cassette recorder, singing along and trying my best to sound like EC (with a Minnesota accent, LOL)!

The Attractions were one hell of a backing band. Elvis was lucky to be able to find those players. Can't say enough good things about 'em.

im 14 and i love this stuff and even older stuff, like aretha franklin and frank sinatra, but i'll like elvis costello and led zeppelin and miley cyrus and high school musical and the jonas brothers and paramore, and EVERYONEEE whatever your age, its greattt to like old stuff and bring it back again. but its cool to like the stuff everyone else likes too, i cant help it! a good song never dies. thats really the test, to see how long it lives for. and hes certainly lived on

The last time I watched this video, not a single comment was about the Jonas Brothers. Can we just get back on focus? Namely - Elvis Costello? I, for one, have started listening to him because my friend brought him to my attention. He's great! Early new wave is the way to go.

i remember a LIFE SIZE cardboard promo of Elvis Costello in stores for promotion around this time!. in exactly the same pose, with stratocaster. Identical, what a great period piece that would be now..............

Why do folks equate growing older with selling out? Elvis is NOT A SELL OUT. He is just 30 years older. Selling out would be doing the same new wave over and over and over for 30 years to please a record company or some outside interest. All of Elvis' music is honest and true to what he wants it to be.

Elvis' older stuff had all the neurotic rage which his later more polished, PC songs lacked. This song is so packed with menace and angst, it's irresistable. Powlett is right. "I loved this song THEN and I love it now."

These individuals who have posted negative comments obviously do not know extreme musical talent when they hear it... Elvis Costello is one of the greatest song writers of our time. In fact, the below persons are more than likely shallow, self centered individuals who can't get beyond the visual element and actually hear the feeling and what the music is getting across. Thats really to bad...

In the early 80's, the "white room" performance clip was a staple on Mtv (& something the Stone Temple Pilots made fun of it in one of their own videos), but that was before Stan Brakhage's influence set in from the late 1980's onward(go 2 IMDB or Wikipedia), so younger people look at this video & by today's standards, it does look silly, but lotsa bands did it back then. Elvis Costello's the man, though, & he has influenced a lot of what rock n' roll is today.
