This man has the most impressive way with words! I think he is a criminally underrated songwriter and all around amazing artist. Most of his songs sound SO ahead of their time and the choices he's made throughout his career reflect his passion for all types of music. Honestly, they don't make 'em like this anymore, which is why I appreciate his talent that much more. Elvis forever!!! :)

The last 45 seconds still haunts me to this very day ,, I wrecked my brothers car after it was in the shop after he wrecked it 2 months earlier ,, it was a 65 Olds 442 ,, he only had it for 2 weeks when he wrecked it ,, so he asked to pick it up and I got talked into joy riding and I got slipped a hit of acid in my beer and needless to say "Accidents will Happen" occurred !! He was initially pissed when I got home and then the next day he started to play this on his stereo system constantly !!! LOL ,, my brother has since passed away but every time I hear this song especially the last 45 seconds I automatically go back in time to that fateful night ,, RIP Brother ,, til I see you again ,, I miss you terribly !!

Saw Elvis Costello & the band in an old run down club in DC around 1992? Remembered the last bit of this song - the "I know" stretched out extra long in a spacey beautiful way. That part of the song took on a life of its own. My friend ran up to Elvis afterwards and told Elvis she loved him & kissed him on the cheek. A sweet lighthearted moment on that dark & stormy & rainy night.

It's videos like this one that had my eyes riveted to MTV when it first came out. I was already a devotee of this 'Elvis' when this video had its very limited run. Almost forty years later, it (and even the song) looks and sounds brand new (and can stand up to videos like "Cake By The Ocean" if given half a chance). It is doubtless that the makers of A-Ha's "Take On Me" were paying attention. Thanks for keeping this classic alive and well.

Absolute bloody masterpiece. This whole album along with the album ''This Year's Model' are two of the best from the 1980s. They have the same kind of edge about them and are masterpieces for the exact same reasons as all of the more recent Arctic Monkeys albums. Beautifully recorded, total energy, fabulous songs, fabulous drumming and bass playing and perfectly accompanying guitar and instrument parts. I enjoy listening to these two albums as much as I did in the early 80s. Elvis Costello is a genius and I only hope other people appreciate what he has achieved over the years.
