Well, one was practically an alien sent to this planet to make everybody happy, and the other was a hideous thing with a thin, frigid voice, who liked to hang babies off of balconies and fondle little boys. It's insulting to even mention that weirdos name in the same sentence as Elvis'.

@ws 2019 No. I have bought over 150 Elvis CDs myself and there are tens of thousands that have bought more than I have. Hundreds of thousands that bought about 40-50, millions that bought 10-20, etc. In 1977 Elvis received the billionth pressing from RCA of all records they pressed, and that was confused back then with him alone selling one billion (he had not), but now that figure is verifiable.

Elvis changed American music and culture....he was around at a time when there was no MTV, no KZbin, social media so for him to become entertainments biggest star he had to be unique and different....he had the looks, the style, the charisma and most of all the voice which had a range that suited many genres....Elvis never left the United States, other than going to Germany in the army, so when he started touring America in the 1970s people went to see him, from all over the world.....he was the blueprint for superstardom...the good and the bad....he will always be regarded as the number 1 artist ....he has sold more records than any other artist, including Michael....

He did come to Canada:) For the record, in 1957 Elvis performed two shows at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto on April 2, two shows at the Auditorium in Ottawa on April 3, and one show at Empire Stadium in Vancouver on August 31. Although he often expressed a desire to tour in Europe and Australia, he never again performed outside the U.S.

Awesome song. It's called American Trilogy because is a mash-up of three different songs. Dixie, a popular folk song about the south, battle hymn of the republic, representing the North and was a marching song of the northern union army and All My Trials which was an old African American spiritual. It's a song that tells the story about our country going to war with itself during the Civil War. Pretty epic.

Elvis packed every venue and they were usually sold out within hours of tickets going on sale. People flew on from all over the world to hear him sing when he was in Vegas. Michael, as good as he was, never beat Elvis in record sales. Elvis came in second only to The Beatles. It took a band of 4 guys to beat Elvis in record sales. They topped him in albums sold but he outsold them in singles sales. Michael came in 3rd. This was for ALL records sold worldwide by anyone. As stated below, for records sold by a solo performer, Elvis outsold Michael and is still number 1 to this day I think.
@toodlescae
@toodlescae 2 жыл бұрын
However, I don't think the 2 should be compared talent wise. We're talking 2 different times in music. Michael ruled the pop world in his time. Elvis ruled every genre he sang and really created his own genre but he always acknowledged the artists who influenced him. He always thought the original artists were better singing the songs he covered so he threw his style in to change it and make it his own.

He never went out during the day and had to rent out cinemas and restaurants to be able to do anything. And this was way before the internet. When his 1950's 45rpm records sales and European sales are included in the total, Elvis sold more than 1 billion record units. According to Wikipedia, Elvis is the #1 biggest-selling single artist. He was first to have a concert beamed around the world by satellite. He was first to have the USPS issue a commemorative stamp in his honor. 16 movies have been made about him. His home is the 2nd most-visited U.S. residence, annually, 2nd only to the White House. 82.6% of all households watched Elvis on Ed Sullivan.

Elvis was named the #1 entertainer of the 20th century. On this song, when he cues the background singers to come back in with his left hand after the trumpet fanfare as he's turning around is one of the coolest moves in music history. Michael was immensely talented, but he was pretty weird. Elvis was pretty normal all things considered. He had his demons (as we all do), but didn't sleep with little boys or talk like a girl. Also, go watch how almost any woman of any age reacts to Elvis. They adore him like no other man I can think of.

Elvis was as beloved as much as Michael Jackson and people came to see him from all over the world. For a single person (if you counted all the pirated record sales, and music uncounted, etc.) he is most likely the single most selling recording artist of all time when you consider his portfolio in total. And through much of his career, there was no MTV or even chances to play overseas and no Internet or anything like that to bolster his career. Elvis never performed any worldwide tours. He also purposely did not do much media or appearances on talk shows. That helped create a mystique that was like a superhero. But his fans were almost religious in their following. I've seen middle-aged women try and kill themselves just to be able to touch him at a show one time when I was a kid. They would have stood in line for days just to meet him. To his fans, Elvis was like the Pope is to a fervent Catholic. It was astounding, but an illusion in a sense, because no one is really "famous" as fame is something that is created by the followers themselves. Sadly, Elvis' mega stardom helped kill him because no one could ever live up to that kind of inhuman status.

Elvis was the Biggest performer & still holds the World Record for Biggest selling (solo) artist of all time, with Michael Jackson the runner up, so yes, Elvis was a bigger star than Michael. In his lifetime, he was the Biggest solo artist worldwide. He is still Huge today, 47 years after his death at the age of 42 in 1977 & recently his record Blue Christmas hit the Number One spot again. Not only was he the Biggest solo artist of all time, but his stage performances were All Sold Out within a couple of hours, & that was after he had been shot to stardom in the mid-1950s right up to his very last live concert in June 1977. He died in August 1977. Just joining your channel for your Elvis Reactions … I’ve been a big fan of Elvis for over sixty years now & so has my wife, & we’re both 72. Thank you for a great reaction.

To compare Elvis and Michael is like comparing apple and oranges! Elvis is the consumat ENTERTAINER. This live event was taken to 40+ countries and over a billion fans etc... tuned in to see the King of Rock & Roll. Michael was the King of Pop! Anyone who compares the two needs to realize the technology wasn't there for Elvis...but oh man...he made his music great...I feel like ELVIS felt his music down deep in his heart and soul! And that's why even today we listen to Elvis! He's simply perfect!

When you see moisture on Elvis's face It is not tears ..... { I know I sound funny when I talk ..... Lead-alone keep singing ..... Make no scene now that you think about it does it } ..... BUT BOY DOES HE SWEAT AND WHEN HE DOES SWEAT ..... SWEATS ..... NO TEARS COME FROM YOUR HAIR OR YOUR FOREHEAD IT IS SWEAT ..... WHEN HE SWEATS AS WITH ANYONE ..... IT Runs down YOUR FOREHEAD around his face around his eyes ..... Then down his cheeks and chin ..... Elvis sang songs with emotion BUT WAS NOT AN EMOTIONAL SINGER ..... He did not cry while singing songs ..... He recorded Exactly 769 songs ..... Elvis was the top professional ..... He sang all the songs with Emotion ..... Even old McDonald ..... He was NOT Emotional ..... Not any song ..... Not this one ..... Not that one either .....That one either ..... 'right not that one either ..... NONE ..... Anytime you read or hear he cried is gossip ..... Right - back - at - you ..... So see how aberration's can grow ..... Even if it's about Elvis ..... He didn't do it after his beloved mother died in public ..... I don't think or see anything Elvis saw more Precise than her ..... Do you ..... If you or anyone else thinks so .....Then you don't know Elvis ..... THEN YOU JUST DON"T KNOW ELVIS ..... No Brag ..... Just Fact .....

Elvis helped shape the modern world, he was a massive influence in ushering in equality. He did as much naturally if not more than anyone in bringing together and trying to end racial discrimination. I’m quite sure he was a gift from God.

U have to remember this was 1973, can u ever imagine any artist today using any mic live fro that day, no, Elvis was named this king as he beat it all down and is still the king. i dare any artist today to use that equipment on stage in the past 3 decades, it wouldn't happen, they don't have what this man always did.

That funny little move he made to the music was from his study in Karate,,he had a black belt! Elvis had a very painful eye problem at that time,,thus the tears,he began wearing sun glasses most of the time because of it!

I think MJ is on 3. place, behind The Beatles and Elvis. Both have twice as many record/downloands as MJ.

Elvis was the first professor to ever have a billion live viewers and look at the time. Michael is greatest in flesh but he was also a Elvis fan. Las Vegas is full of Elvis impersonators. Elvis is the King!!!! Michael did have a billion live viewers also. Their both kings who should never be compared.

Great Reaction. American Trilogy is a powerful song about God and Country. I am very old and lived all through this generation so let me help you out. ELVIS AND MICHAEL WERE BOTH GREAT. Elvis was the King or Rock Michael was the King of Pop. Two different Era's. Elvis did more for the black community than any Politician in history. Elvis made rock and roll famous and brought Black Music with him and made it famous. Research Elvis and Black music, you will be surprised. Did you forget that Michael married Elvis daughter Lisa Marie Presley? Michael also tried to buy up all of Elvis music but it was not for sell.

Elvis has the stats to show that HE was the greatest of all time....He has sold well over a BILIION records and still counting...No one else has done that yet. ..44 years after his death Elvis is still loved by millions the world over....When Elvis first started in the 1950s he single handedly changed the course of music and kicked down all the doors that separated black music from white music . He has influenced many others , both black and white, and gave many of them the opportunity to have music careers of their own...If not for Elvis , who exploded like an Atomic bomb in the 50s , rock and roll music might have died a quick death back then. Elvis was doing a side-step version of the Moonwalk even before Michael Jackson was born...You can see this dance move in the film LOVING YOU . I really could go on and on , but what I'm trying to say is that Elvis was the First in many things...First and the greatest at what he did. They call him 'the king' for a reason. There's NOBODY quite like Elvis, and I don't think there ever will be. . .

During the concert that went out live via satilight on January 14, 1973 some time after this song he threw out his belt to the audience and then at the end of the show he threw out his cape to the audience but sometime after he passed away the cape was returned to the estate.

Michael died 10 years ago, very recent, thats why you think he was bigger. Elvis never made concerts worldwide, only in the US, Elvis died 44 YEARS AGO ( a long time ago ) still the best selling solo artist, incredible. Aloha from Hawaii was seen in 36 countries by 1.5 billion people and we are talking about 1973, 49 years ago( and the first satellite concert)...Elvis was bigger, no doubts. Not only an opinion but also facts. If you see Hound Dog video 1956, there's a lot Michael moves.
