Mauro, you were curious about 'jagers'? In that same context, is this the song. I'm guessing that Ossi is referring to this performance kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6OuqXafib-ir7M Opera singer Jorma Hynninen, backed by a plethora of choirs including a veteran one. Pretty epic.

Seconded! I have fond memories of singing it with some veterans, and I've found it to be an impactful piece of music

I time to time listen it..to remind me what they did for us. I think everyone should listen it and think twice which kind of finland we want. Did they fought for our indepency that it can be ruin by mass immigration? Finland for finns and karjala takaisin perkele😂❤

You should definitely react to Kalevala stories, our Finnish mythology if you don't know about it yet. Kullervo is one of the heroes/stories in it. For example lot of J. R. R. Tolkien's writings were inspired by Kalevala.

These songs are traditional and important for finns. - National anthemn Maamme (lyrics swedish speaking poet Johan Runeberg and composed, originally from german Frederik Pacius). - Finlandia hymn (lyric part of tone poem Finlandia op. 26) by national composer Jean Sibelius. There were many lyric versions but V.A. Koskenniemi's version is most known. Originally composer Sibelius did not like idea of writing a lyrics for this part. Many think finns should change offiicial Maamme to this one. - Porilaisten marssi is mostly performed without lyrics.. only music. - Jääkärien marssi. "Surprise" that composer is again Jean Sibelius. This was originally only march of jaegers (conservatives/bourgeois/whites) against red (communists/lefties) during civil war in 1918. Nowdays this is only very known national march.

Please react to other patriotic song from Finland please! There are many good ones, example Muistoja pohjolasta, Hakkapeliittain marssi (its my favorite one, its the oldest military march still in use in the world), Sillanpään Marssilaulu and Eldankajärven jää

There was a bit of a movement with the Finnish National Team Supporters Association (?) to make Finlandia the "real" national song, I don't know what happened to the idea. We used to sing it at every Finnish national team match (football, of course, other sports don't matter).

Or the longest music video of all time, Tuntematon Sotilas (Unknown Soldier, 1955 version). It begins and ends with Finlandia, and is peppered with tunes of Finland throughout the movie.

if you want to watch a patriotic song, I recommend watching: Teflon Brothers - Kendo Anthem. If Finns are patriotic somewhere, it's in hockey. p.s. I'm not sure if you can find the song with English subtitles on KZbin, but I think it has quite interesting lyrics.

I hate to say it but the translations on these aren't the best :'D A lot of weird changes and innaccuracies. I especially enjoy them translating "Voi vainolaisten hurmehella peittää maan" as "Enemies can with charm cover the land", when its "can with the fresh blood of its persecutors cover the land". There are few of these in there

In Jääkärinmarssi they often skip the last part too that implies to the Greater Finland. That one amuses me too when we used to sing it and they always told us not to sign the last part.
