To listen to An American Trilogy, you need to watch Elvis performing it live in his Aloha from Hawaii 1973 Live Concert. The one you have just played had the Philharmonic Orchestra added in 2015. Elvis did a Brilliant musical arrangement in the live performance in Hawaii 1973, & he would have Hated anyone messing around with his musical arrangements, because not only was Elvis an Amazing singer, he was brilliant with his own musical arrangements to all of his songs. To see An American Trilogy done as Elvis wanted it to be, & so much better, you really should do his live Hawaiian performance, & that will make your Elvis fans much happier.

You definitely need the version from Aloha from Hawaii from the backup show on Jan 12, 1973 or the live satellite show on Jan 14, 1973 either one. The live one on the 14th was watched by over a Billion people in over 40 countries around the world. It wasn’t on here (in US) until April 4, 1973 because Jan 14, was Super Bowl Sunday. The American Eagle suit he’s wearing weighed 75 pounds.

Gotcha! Appreciate the info! I loved this performance personally! Thanks for watching!
@courtneynairn5083 ай бұрын
I think maybe when the fans say "live" they are referring to the original and not the layered over Philharmonic Orchestra. Majority of fans, especially life long fans who were around during the70's and before agree that the original is the better choice. They may also mean "live" as in actually watching Elvis perform as opposed to looking at an album cover. I understand where you are coming from, because technically this audio is taken from the live performance, but unfortunately most fans would agree that it was ruined with the addition of the Philharmonic Orchestra. There was nothing wrong with the Orchestra Elvis chose to back him up. But if a patrion requests this specific video, he has to react to it. Perhaps the person who requested it has not yet experienced the original performance. 😊 Have a great day further. I know this comment is two months overdue, but I just came across this reaction now.

Thank you so VERY much, Steven, for this reaction. Elvis was one of my main sources of inspiration, back in my teen days. I sang everything I ever heard him sing, at one time or another. I loved him very much, without ever getting to meet him -- and that was all before I EVER saw him on TV or in any movies. I just stood by our big old radio, and listened and learned. To me, he was truly the king of music, and since music was all I ever really wanted to do with my life, listening to him was just...yeah...still is. Again, thank you. Heading for the other reaction. 🧓😢

I always tear up when I hear Elvis. He was such a great performer, even towards the end of his too short life. I read that a more modern forensicologist claimed that his cause of death was from several severe concussions which he suffered during his movie career. This is one performer which I’m not sure Dan Vasc even match and I absolutely love Dan and his voice.

This “attempt” to put Elvis with an orchestra is a sham. He already had an orchestra when he recorded this in the first instances. Elvis worked his butt off to create a dynamic relationship between every element on stage as he performed a song. His 1973 live version (which is the vocal track they used for this abomination) was absolutely astounding. I was going to sub but I’ll wait to see if you waste my time with more of these atrocious RPO versions. Elvis was brilliant and the works he left us with don’t need “improving” by adding fake backing vocals that have no soul at all or bland orchestration that diminish the overall impact of what Elvis created.

A better comparison would be Elvis's in concert version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zne3ZIajj8StrpI Elvis's original in concert and also the recorded version is much better than this one with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The over-orchestrations of an entire album of Elvis songs was stupid; his original versions stands on their own. For example, a 'lush' orchestration to accompany "In The Ghetto" ?? Dumb concept; should have left well enough alone.
