Butler did ok, but I do not see him being the best portrayal of Elvis as that position has already been claimed, in my opinion, by Kurt Russel in the 1979 Movie "Elvis" Of course, I could be a little biased in the fact that I do not enjoy Hollywood remaking original movies for the sole purpose of making money off the name. Did not care for it when they remade "True Grit." My personal suggestion to Hollywood is to leave the originals alone. Colorize them if you feel the need but otherwise, they are classics, and you need to stop being greedy. One other thing, stop being woke and be more creative. example, "Avatar", very creative, with that movie they showed everybody that Hollywood can be creative, if they just put their greed aside and focus on creating. Focus on your craft!!!

Austin Butler's portrayal of Elvis can be encapsulated for me in the simple realisation that of all the millions of Elvis impersonators who ever imitated the King, Austin Butler managed to pull off an Elvis impersonation that didn't actually feel like an Elvis impersonation; There was depth and authenticity to his character study that did the great man proud. Loved it, energy, pathos, intensity...Oscar, please.

To be fair, Austin is doing the 1950s version of the song. Elvis's version in the 50s was very different from the '68 version. His voice was higher in the '50s, that version is much tamer. The '68 one is much more raw and bluesy.. Amazing movie. Thx for posting.

Austin did an amazing job to replicate Elvis and he deserves much accolades, taking on such a tough personality, a legendary one for a biopic. However that said, no one can replicate the looks of Elvis, he looks more handsome and good looking than even the best looking top rate actors today. On top of that his mannerisms, the incredible legendary voice he possesses and his keen sense and rhythm for his music is only unique to him. No one can feel and jive to the music like he does. He leaps into the song and he expresses it in it's entirety from the vocals to the movement of his body. He was one with the music and with the audience and no one can do that, apart from Michael Jackson. These two are leagues above the next best artiste and no one can ever, ever lace their boots.
