No exaggeration….. I can listen to Sam talk all day and all night long. He is a very smart, humble, no b.s type of a guy…when you ask Sam a question, he answers it with no hype, no this or that, he answers it exactly the way it is- honestly and truthfully, and happens to be the brother of probably my favourite of all the Elvis girls…… the talented and stunning Linda Thompson. Once again Joe….. fantastic interview. 💯💯💯

Joe this interview with Sam was a goldmine of insight and information about the man, Elvis! I can’t even begin to tell you how much information I have in my mind about Elvis, but this interview was something totally different than all the rest! It gave information about how Elvis was in his everyday life, without being to personal. Sam gave a lot of information that was unknown to me about the day of, and the days following Elvis’s death, and the eventual burial at Graceland. Sam was the man who was there, but behind the scenes and you can just tell his honesty as he talks. I am so glad that I just happened across this interview! It is wonderful to know that Elvis had a good friend around and with him in those final years. Sam is a very intelligent man who really tells his story if his time with Elvis in such an understandable and believable manner! Thank you so much for putting out this interview for us fans to listen to! So many more fans need to hear this interview!

I'm glad Sam freely mentioned Elvis told him the morning he died that he was bringing a new girl on tour with him and her name was Alicia. I have heard so many people say they didn't believe this because Ginger had said they were engaged. Others who were in Elvis's circle have said the same thing, so Sam saying it is further proof he wasn't that dedicated to Ginger and the other guys weren't lying. Thank you, Sam.

Sam may have heard it from Billy Smith but it's still not true. Alicia Kerwin testified at Dr. Nick's first trial and she said she hadn't seen Elvis the month before he died, that she had no interest in him and only called Graceland to get papers she needed for the car Elvis bought her. It's also been researched in Elvis Decoded and there were no arrangements made for Alicia to go on tour with Elvis.

@@debra2700 Sam said Elvis told him she was going the morning he died. Other members of his group have said the same thing. Alicia was young and she may have said she wasn't going because she didn't want to be involved and have the press coming after her after his death. Who knows, I know I have heard it out of Sam and Billy Smith's own mouth and I have read where others in the know have said the same thing.

@@handmup Sam Thompson didn't see Elvis that morning. He said in an interview that when he came to pick up Lisa Marie to take her home, Elvis was dead. Billy Smith didn't hear about it until his cousin, Patsy Presley called to tell him when Elvis had been rushed to the hospital. Billy Smith is and always was a professional cousin and he and Jo hated Ginger and did everything they could, along with Dick Grob, to make Ginger look bad and make it look like she was on her way out. Alicia testified at Dr. Nick's trial that Elvis was too old for her and she had no interest in him at a time when everyone adored Elvis. She wouldn't risk the wrath of the fans if she didn't mean what she said. Sorry, but "others in the know" is not better than a woman testifying under oath.

@@debra2700 Did you even listen to Sam's interview above at 29:59 he begins telling about Elvis telling him the morning he died about Alicia going on tour with him. Elvis had asked George Kline to make the arrangements for her to go. Elvis also told Billy, who he was very close to him, and has told this on his video show. Others in the group also knew about her going. Elvis said she was going and told all these people so I believe them. Now, if you don't want to believe what these men have said that is fine. I do believe them and we will have to agree to disagree.

@@handmupElvis and Sam and whoever may have said that Alicia was going on the tour but Alicia didn't want to go. She didn't like the way all of the guys around Elvis would laugh at his jokes even if they weren't funny and she felt they were a bunch of users who did his bidding and it disgusted her. Alicia was a young girl and didn't want to have to take care of a man more than twice her age the way Ginger was willing to do and the way she understood she would be expected to do. I respect what you're saying, that Elvis and the guys said Alicia was going on tour but it didn't matter. Alicia was asked at Dr. Nick's 1981 trial about her observations of Elvis' drug use those last few months of his life. She said she didn't see him and only called Graceland because she needed some papers for the car that Elvis bought her in the Spring.

I appreciate the interview and insight he offers during that time. Unfortunately, through all these is the sheer willingness to turn a blind eye to the excessive drug use. This in particular however with a former police officer who obviously was aware of what Elvis was doing. To be fair, what could he have done. The perks obviously outweighed the obvious issue (until he died) and then gifts, cars and houses disappeared. What people call genorosity was certainly an internal feeling that he needed to buy loyalty as he didnt really have true friends. He had to have known that and probably was very depressed by it. The real tragedy is Elvis surrounded himself with yes men & enablers, not friends and died alone. Just sad. Personally I feel he had simply given up, wasn't happy and was just in a routine of living in survival mode.

Graceland. I think that’s the reason Graceland became such an intriguing location for ppl to start visiting after he died. Because unlike most big celebrities Elvis did not continuously move. An average celebrity usually moves to about 4 different mansions and in entirely different locations/cities. All the stories and facts about Elvis revolve entirely specifically around Graceland. And nowhere else. And we know, today it’s unfortunately Grave-land. As alot of young ppl today don’t even know who Elvis is, or his music, so hopefully Lisa Marie’s daughter can ensure Graceland evolves Graceland into something modern music associated. I really hope so. I love Graceland stories.

If only everyone valued their family that much the world be a better place.

Tom Parker appears to have begun to indulge in gambling in Las Vegas after signing an international hotel deal. By making his manager addicted to gambling, tying Elvis to long-term slave contracts for Las Vegas shows, and subjecting him to grueling performances on stage and on tour, one wonders who ultimately benefited from all the money Elvis made. @@jkrein82 Joe, I found an article in the Commercial Appeal where after Elvis died, Linda and Sam were notified that the Estate could no longer continue to pay the rent on a house that Elvis had purchased and allowed their parents to rent from him. Instead of being grateful that Elvis had allowed them to stay there even after he broke up with Linda, they sued the Estate. Sam was making money and Linda was appearing on Hee Haw and the Presley Estate wasn't responsible for Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, Sam and Linda were or the Thompsons should have taken care of themselves. Either way, it definitely made me think less of Linda and Sam because "the Estate" was Vernon, little Lisa Marie and Minnie Mae. Linda and Sam lost because there was no written rental agreement between Elvis and the Thompsons, the same way there was none between Elvis and the Aldens.

Linda also lived in Hollywood making great money on Hee Haw and her parents and their wellbeing was Linda and Sam Thompson's responsibility, not any member of the Presley family. It was little Lisa Marie who was going to inherit Graceland so Linda can't go on and on about how close she was to Lisa Marie and not acknowledge that she expected Elvis' Estate to let her parents live rent free in a house Elvis owned.
