Elvis Presley Marty Lacker Interview by Joe Krein Part 3 out of 4

Marty Lacker, a member of Elvis' famed Memphis Mafia and one of the best men at Elvis' 1967 wedding, died Monday after suffering from kidney failure. He was 80. He's the second member of the Memphis Mafia to die in recent months, following the November 2016 death of Joe Esposito, the other best man at Elvis' wedding.
'He went to school with (Elvis), that’s how they met. My dad was from New York, the Bronx, and he dressed just like Elvis did. They just formed a bond of friendship through that. They always took up for each other. Both of them went into the army and afterwards, a good friend of his re-introduced them and he went to work for him', said Mr. Lacker's son, Mark. 'They were like brothers. They respected each other'.

Marty is the best! When I first read "Elvis and the Memphis Mafia," Marty came across as being totally forthright and knowledgeable. I get the same impression from this interview. It's even more enjoyable because you get to hear the inflection in his voice, but the information that he presents remains the same. He certainly brings clarity to what transpired behind the scenes. He truly cared about Elvis the Man.

Great interview; thanks for uploading these. Must comment on Geller: He probably meant well, but Elvis was a professed, although imperfect, Christian (as am I). Geller encouraged Elvis to dabble in false religions, and I believe the Holy Spirit will not give a Christian true peace when they are dabbling in false religions. Geller should have respected Elvis' Christianity instead of filling his head with crap. He did not help Elvis and hindered his quest for inner peace.

All religions are wrong. Each has a part correct but not one owns the truth. Being worried about not being allowed Home because you said certain words or didn't say them is pure foolishness. We return to Heaven regardless of what we do or say because that's where we come from. We had a life before this one. We knew we were coming into life on earth. We were full grown people before we became who we are now. If some darn thing would actually prevent you from returning Home, no one would be here now. They'd be too afraid. Not going Home is as silly as thinking you're going to get lost in your dreams one night and never wake up. We are eternal souls having a human experience.

Elvis would have been sued into bankruptcy if he would have been treating employees this way today. You can’t live or employ people under this kind of delusion, that you would mistreat or abuse your employees like this and get away with it, especially when you get on a mic and humiliate someone in front of a criwd. What an awful unforgivable way to treat people in front of thousands of people. That’s an ego run amuck! It’s far more humane and decent to settle your problems off the stage. Paying customers who spend a lot of money to buy a ticket to see your performance deserve a heck of a lot better than to feel like they have just been put in the middle of a fight or to be forced to watch an employee being publicly humiliated or berated in front of an audience.

I think she was pregnant when they married. No first pregnancy is 9 months. They're usually closer to 10. She could've been up to 4 weeks along. Why did she pick the style of wedding dresses that women wore when "with child" ? Why make it a secret but then not be secretive about it ? There's too many clues towards that being the truth. Plus, it's the one reason Elvis would go through with it. She just got lucky to have Lisa Marie 9 months to the day of their wedding.
@barbcollins

Maybe Priscilla is bitter towards Elvis because she was pregnant. Her father threatened to expose him for living with a minor. I think the entire deal was planned. The father allowed her to live with Elvis because she would be famous and wealthy her entire life.

I think what Elvis did on stage to Kathy and the sweets was extremely rude and not ok. We all know if the roles were switched, Elvis would absolutely go feral and take out his gun. I can understand wanting to make jokes, but there is a line and you shouldn’t crack a joke on someone else‘s butt and bring them down or shame them in that way. I hate people who do that in general. That‘s not a joke just a lame excuse to make on. People get mad when you tread others how they tread you and I think that resonates a lot with Elvis. I think it was disrespectful what he did truly and I can promise a lot of people would have even slapped Elvis on stage for what he said. Absolutely awful.

ML sounds like he had some prejudice of his own toward white gospel music. Elvis had influence from white gospel, as well as black, according to most reference sources. ML doesn't impress me.

To bad Marty didn't keep this to himself instead of trashing and spilling his guts about Elvis. Lisa Marie was right about all of them. Jerry was the only one she respected. Shame on you Marty. Elvis trusted you.

I always thought this guy had a big mouth and spoke rudely about everything. Such a pessimistic. I never liked him from day one. His daughters are also just like their father, very loud and brash. They’re all riding on Elvis coat tales.

He shouldn't talk about Vernon like that. Vernon at least never badmouthed about Elvis, tried to advise Elvis and to protect Lisa by adding 2 co trustees beside Priscilla. Vernon behaved like a caring father, they did not always behave like caring friends or employees.
