On one of my trips to Memphis it was very hot and so I bought myself one of those handheld, battery driven fans from one of the shops on Graceland Plaza and they called them 'Elvis Fans'. So, I was an Elvis fan who had an Elvis fan 😄😄

All aboard and welcome to The Seph Show. Such a fun reaction you trying to follow with the lyrics and talking to James at the same time.😂 James Burton is one of the few left from the Elvis circle. You could actually talk to him, wouldn't that be a treat on this channel. That's the next thing and hurry up, those guys are getting really old. Or maybe you could react to a video where James is talking about Elvis. I met James in Memphis 1997, when he was playing for Jerry Lee at the BB Kings bar on Beale Street. I shook his hand after the concert and thanked him for everything he did for Elvis, he told me it was a privilege for him to get to play and get to know Elvis. I've seen him in Sweden a few times but never got to talk to him.

The more that I listen to Elvis the more I think I need to have several different playlists just for his music. It's actually impossible for me to compare his songs to one another when they are so different. I really like this song and would happily put it a daily rotation, but how do you compare it to Peace in the Valley or Now or Never? And if I am honest, I can't imagine me listening to any other artists singing gospel. But I do love The Elvis gospel recordings

Nice song. Stunning voice this man had. That's 'The Elvis' for you! Nancy Sinatra said he was always moving even when sitting down. Tapping his feet or his fingers when talking to them. He had so much rhythm and music in his being. Amazing man.

A bite of the Elvis apple a day Keeps ol' misery away 🍎🎸🍎👌 Speaking of an Elvis apple analogy I think the Cosmic Crisp might be the closest apple hybrid to that. It's a 20 year long apple fruit tree project in the making at University of Washington State. Came to be back in 1997. It's AMAZING! One of the most expensive apples on the market (even here in its native PNW) but my GAWD what an apple! It's the best apple I've ever had in my life and due to my apple pie- from- scratch days I've had and experimented with my fair share of apples. If you are gonna bake with apples the texture and taste matters and you want a mix. You never use the same apple in a pie. For texture and taste contrast. Granny Smith and Golden Apples hold up quite well plus there is a mix of tart and sweet but I also threw in Pink Lady apples & Cameo apples for extra contrast in taste and texture. Pink Lady apples & Cameos are nice sweet apples to use for baking. And yeah okay I'm kinda bragging here but I got apple pie baking creds because I won 2nd Place in a baking contest at a State Fair. Also: Fun Apple Fact: Apples are a member of the Rose family. 🎶Mama Liked The Roses🎶 but the Apple of her eye was her son 🌹🍎🌹 Well Seph you DID bring up apples so you got no one to blame yourself for this detour on Elvis Apple Boulevard ( two rights and a left over from Lonely Street 😉) Right, right moving on! Songwriter info will be in a separate comment just FYI! 2nd Comment Songwriter Info Below: Darrell Fuller I could not find much on. In fact I could only find out a a couple of scant facts about him. 1. He was the son of Dolores Fuller who was a songwriter herself as well as a record label owner & actress. She co- wrote a number of movie songs for Elvis- see list below: 1. Barefoot Ballad 2. Beyond The Bend 3. Big Love Big Heartache 4. Do The Clam 5. I Got Lucky 6. I'll Take Love 7. Rock-A-Hula Baby 8. You Can't Say No In Acapulco Her son Darrell Fuller wrote one movie song for Elvis and that was/ is "Spinout" for the movie of the same name. Ben Weisman Info: Benjamin Weisman (November 16, 1921 - May 20, 2007) was an American composer. He wrote 57 songs recorded by Elvis Presley, more than any other songwriter. Weisman was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He studied classical piano as a child, and then at the Juilliard School of Music. After being drafted, he became Special Services Music Director for the U.S. Army Air Force, before returning to New York and a career in Tin Pan Alley. Initially, he found success writing with Fred Wise and Kay Twomey, often using the collective pseudonym "Al Hill". Their early successes included "Let Me Go, Lover!", written with Jenny Lou Carson and recorded by Joan Weber, Patti Page, Kathy Kirby, and many others. He signed an exclusive contract with the music publishers Hill & Range, and began writing for Presley at the request of company co-owner Jean Aberbach. Weisman wrote for Presley from 1956 ("First in Line") to 1971 ("Change of Habit"). Their early association (1957-1962) produced many of the most powerful rockers and poignant ballads in Presley's repertoire, including "Got a Lot o' Livin' to Do", "Follow That Dream", "Rock-A-Hula Baby", "Crawfish", "As Long as I Have You", "Pocketful of Rainbows" and "Fame and Fortune". Weisman later said: "I approached writing for Elvis differently than I did for any other artist. The songs had to have a combination of blues, country, rock and pop - what came to be called 'rockabilly'. It was like walking in his musical shoes. With each new Elvis movie, more of my songs were being recorded. It became more and more exciting, for I was becoming the only songwriter to have so many songs recorded by him. After completing each song, I would make a demonstration record, using a singer that could copy Elvis' sound. I used the same type of rhythm section that he used, with the same type of vocal backgrounds. The end result was a tailor-made production, just for him.... My friendship with Elvis developed during the studio sessions in Hollywood, to which I was always invited to attend. Since they copied my demos note-for-note, Elvis liked to have me around in case there were any problems. He had a great sense of humor, and used to call me the 'Mad Professor.'" Weisman also co-wrote hit songs for other artists, including "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes", written with Dorothy Wayne and Marilyn Garrett, and recorded by Bobby Vee. Ben Weisman died in 2007 in Los Angeles, California, surrounded by friends and family. Buddy Kaye Info: Jules Leonard "Buddy" Kaye (January 3, 1918 - November 21, 2002) was an American songwriter, lyricist, arranger, producer, and author. His songs were recorded by top performers, including Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, The McGuire Sisters, Glenn Miller, Sammy Kaye, Perry Como, Elvis Presley, Charles Aznavour, Tony Bennett, Cliff Richard, Pat Boone, Harry Belafonte, Bobby Darin, Little Richard, Barry Manilow, Karen Carpenter, Diana Krall, and Dusty Springfield. He scored number-one hits on the Billboard charts in 1945 with "Till The End Of Time", recorded by Perry Como, and in 1949 with "'A' You're Adorable (The Alphabet Song)", recorded by Como and The Fontane Sisters. Among his most recognizable tunes in pop culture are the theme songs to the Famous Studios theatrical cartoons Little Lulu and Little Audrey; the international hit song "Speedy Gonzales", recorded by Pat Boone; and the co-written theme song to the television series I Dream of Jeannie. In 1976, he won a Grammy Award for best children's album for his production of The Little Prince, narrated by Richard Burton. As an author he had four published books, including: The Wisdom of Baltasar Gracian (Pocket Books, Simon & Schuster), Method Songwriting (St. Martin's Press), The Gift of Acabar - co-authored with Og Mandino (Lippincott, Bantam Books, Penguin, Random House) and "'A' You're Adorable" (Candlewick Press). Kaye completed the book and lyrics to When Garbo Talks!, his final work, in 2002. The stage musical had its world premiere at International City Theatre, Long Beach Performing Arts Center, October 15, 2010. In 2015, seventy years after first being recorded by Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan released a cover version of “Full Moon and Empty Arms” on his Shadows in the Night album of Sinatra standards and praised Buddy Kaye in his MusiCares Person of the Year speech as one of the great songwriters who may not be well known in these times but deserves recognition. In celebration of the centennial birthdate of Buddy Kaye, January 3, 2018, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) recognized the achievements and success of Golden Circle member Buddy Kaye referring to him in a published article as “A lyricist for the ages". On April 29, 2018, in Brooklyn, NY, the James Madison Alumni Association added Buddy Kaye to the Madison Wall of Distinction. And that is it! That's all I've got- for now anyway. I never know what I will find later on. Just sayin' 😉

just another wee fun fact - love letters was the 3rd album from the 1970 sessions and was really the leftover / rejected songs after that's the way it is and elvis country, and even then a 1972 album (ironically called elvis now) , had some other rejects from 69 and 70 including hey jude and sylvia (where did they go lord and rags to riches were single release only)

Okay 3rd comment here, I forgot to add another Elvis fact: The last Elvis recording that was released in Mono was (Now And Then) There's Such A Fool As I" (1959). The first Elvis recording released in Stereo was "Stuck On You" (1960). When Elvis got back from the army the sound engineering & equipment had improved within a year's time. When Elvis returned to recording a new sound engineer took over and that was Bill Porter. There are articles about this guy. I know I posted one article about Bill Porter under one of your earlier Elvis reactions. Most likely one of the 1960 Elvis reactions because I distinctly remember that is when you noticed a difference in sound quality of Elvis's recordings Seph. And it really stood out to you because this was after those Elvis Home Recordings 👐🎹😋 :D

HUGE Sound difference in the 60's!!!!!! ELVIS IS BACK! IS FRIGGIN PHENOMENAL!!!!! SOME OF HIS BEST RECORDINGS IMO!!!! LOVE YOU TY FOR ALL YOUR INFO DARLING ONE BUTTT YOU HAVE TO TOTALLY APPRECIATE THE FIRST ELVIS SONGS!!!!!! I LOVE HIS ROCKABILLY SO SO MUCH

@@HeavenlyPresley-Tonya Honestly I think Elvis's recording of "Blue Moon Of Kentucky" is one of my favorites. It's just so different. Elvis did a pure country song and put it in a music blender and what came out had people scratching their heads trying to figure out just what the heck that was. And this after listening to the A side of that Sun Record "That's All Right Mama". Elvis's signature record in my opinion. No you cannot dismiss those Sun Records at all. Listening to them is a journey in and of itself 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💨💌

Great reaction Seph but what puzzled his fans through the years was why so many songs were not sung once on stage. Colonel Parker may have been a thorn in the side for the business decisions, but Elvis ruled the roost when it came to performing the songs live and chose not to do them.
