Here's the problem. The left wing government control socialists now OWN the democrat socialist party. They are against liberty and the bill of rights. Anyone who doesn't understand this, is very very ignorant. You may not like President Trump. BUT, he stands for the principles of liberty and the bill of rights. Time to educate yourself.
@sonofjay8174 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, its not lack of desire for peace and harmony that's the problem. Its race baiters confusing the masses and convincing them there is systemic racism when there isn't. Then the other side gets resentful and viola! you have class warfare, exactly what the Left wants.

The report on the complete facts of the SONG "IF I CAN DREAM" Elvis Presley The King Elvis Presley Home Elvis Home › Graceland › Elvis News › Elvis Biography › Elvis Interviews › Sitemap › The assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis, as well as that of U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy, affected Elvis Presley deeply. These feelings led Elvis to give one of the most passionate performances of his career. America was in the midst of an upheaval in 1968. The Civil Rights movement was in full swing and our world and culture were changing. Within a short span of time, two leaders were assassinated. Dr. King was assassinated April 4, 1968, in Memphis - Elvis's hometown. Robert Kennedy, Assassinated in Los Angeles, June 6,1968, a US Senator who strongly supported human rights and social justice, was killed two months later, on June 6. It was Elvis's reaction to the news of both King and Kennedy's assassination that lead to the creation of the song 'If I Can Dream', a tribute song to King, featuring direct quotes from the Civil Rights leader. In the spring of '68, Elvis was working on his upcoming TV special, 'Elvis'. After seeing the news about Kennedy's death on TV, Elvis spent an entire night with the show's director, Steve Binder, and his friends, talking about the assassinations and Elvis's wishes for the world. The conversation was heartfelt and honest, and Binder believed Elvis had an important message for the country. Binder then went to the show's Musical Director Billy Goldenberg and songwriter Earl Brown and told them about the discussion. He wanted a powerful, meaningful song that would close out the TV special. Because the special was slated to air in December, the producers and Elvis's manager, Col. Tom Parker, had planned to end the show with a Christmas song, but Binder had other ideas. It wasn't long before 'If I Can Dream was born. Once the song was finished, Binder took the song to Elvis and played it for him. 'Let me hear it again', said Elvis, and the song was played again and again. 'Okay', Elvis said, 'I'll do it'. On June 23, 1968, Elvis recorded 'If I Can Dream in several impassioned takes, even though it is said that the first take Elvis gave was perfect. The king gave such a powerful performance that some band members were taken aback, so blown away by Elvis's performance that they had to do several retakes. It was after the band and backup singers were sent home that Elvis gave an even more astonishing performance as he re-recorded the vocals. Elvis had the lights turned off and gave himself over to the music. Over the next few takes, he fell to his knees on the concrete floor, giving himself completely to the song. After those takes, Elvis went to the control room and had his chosen take played repeatedly before he gave it his blessing. Elvis was so moved by the song and his experience with it that he told Binder, I'll never sing another song I don't believe in. I'm never going to make another movie I don't believe in'. 'If I Can Dream was featured at the end of Elvis's Singer Special (later known as the '68 Special) on December 3, 1968. This was the first time the public heard the song, and it was later released as a single with 'Edge of Reality (recorded for the film 'Live a Little, Love a Little') as its flip-side in November 1968. The single spent 13 weeks on the U.S. pop chart peaking at #12. In the U.K., it was on the chart for 10 weeks, peaking at #11. It is now a Gold Record single. Elvis Presley Lyrics Words & Music by W. Earl Brown Elvis Presley Lyrics There must be lights burning brighter somewhere Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue If I can dream of a better land Where all my brothers walk hand in hand Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true There must be peace and understanding sometime Strong winds of promise that will blow away All the doubt and fear If I can dream of a warmer sun Where hope keeps shining on everyone Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that sun appear We're lost in a cloud With too much rain We're trapped in a world That's troubled with pain But as long as a man Has the strength to dream He can redeem his soul and fly Deep in my heart there's a trembling question Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle And while I can think, while I can talk While I can stand, while I can walk While I can dream, please let my dream Come true, right now Let it come true right now Oh yeah Recorded: 1968/06/23, first released on single

I agree. There's is footage of Elvis doing at least 3 earlier takes of this song until Elvis was satisfied. This is one of the earlier takes but for some reason, it has been over dubbed with the more well known performance.
@tvgator14 жыл бұрын
@@Seanryan2001 No this isn’t overdubbed; this is an unused take. There’s differences between this one and the one we all saw. For instance he says “good night, thank you very much” here, where he says “thank you, good night” on the version we normally see. KZbin used to have a side by side of three takes on this song with the master take (and audio overdub) in the middle. Maybe it still exists.

Elvis didn't see color. He was born into poverty. Despite this it has been said that throughout his life he was kind, respectful and generous. As a child growing in the 1930's and 40's there is a story of him sharing an ice-cream cone with a black child on a hot summer day. People did not do that back then. As a teen he would sneak out of his mother's church and into the neighboring black church because their music was the most beautiful he had ever heard. A black man taught him how to play the guitar. Yes, Elvis sang covers of his favorite songs which happened to be sung by black singers. Elvis didn't steal their music - he helped promote it. While planning for a huge Texas concert he was told to leave his black girls (his back up singers, The Sweet Inspirations - led by Whitney Houston's mother) at home. He said - if they don't sing I won't sing. And there are countless stories of him performing random acts of kindness to strangers of various races throughout his life. The world was extremely racist back then and Elvis helped close the gap. "If I Can Dream" should be re-released with proceeds being donated to the cause. It is a timeless song and new generations should hear his message. Please share Elvis' beautiful music. Elvis forever our King!

Elvis actually recorded several takes of this for the show and then they chose the one performance to actually use in the show that they liked best. In the version that you are referring to, if you listen to the very end of the audio you can hear Elvis say; "I'd like to do it again". Just FYI.
