He wasn't called 'Elvis the Pelvis' without reason. Strong opposition to him, his music, and his 'vulgar' moves drove petitions to keep him off the radio/jukeboxes and driven fr towns.

Dating myself but I remember when he was a guest on the Ed Sullivan show. Return to Sender, Marie's the Name, Follow that Dream, Can't Help Falling in Love & Bossa Nova Baby If I Can Dream, Viva Las Vegas, all great songs for you to react to. I had one of those record players that you could carry with you and I'd listen to Elvis on 45's that a coworker of my dad's gave to him for us kids. The way we listen to music has gone through many changes, but it will never stop speaking to our souls.

Michael Jackson got a lot his moves including the toe stance from Elvis. Even sang like Elvis in his early days with the screeching high voice. Not to mention he hired Elvis' road manager Joe Esposito to manage his tours, married Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie, had a pet monkey like Elvis did and named his home Neverland while Elvis' iconic home is Graceland. Michael and the Jackson 5 met Elvis and attended his concert in Lake Tahoe on May 26, 1974. Michael was in awe of him according to his brothers.

@@angelapaden5280 Truth! Not just that, he also copied Elvis' high pitch style of singing. Go listen to Elvis' songs like Jailhouse Rock, One Night, A Big Hunk Of Love, Dixieland Rock, Hard Headed Woman, etc and you will see what I mean. MJ definitely studied Elvis from his moves to his early vocals.

Dancer with a passion for Dance of any kind! I'm the mother to a competitive dancer, and as she began her journey into dance. When she first started, just the basics. She loved Micheal Jackson, and wanted so badly to do some of those. Her very smart instructor said, study Elvis first. Over the years she has performed both iconic artists. I screamed out like a fool, when I saw her solo preformed this year, and she went up on her toes! YESSSS!

Thats all true, Elvis was the original badass :))) dancer. MJ even had songs with the same title... Like the songs" Monkey business".and more always said he got inspiration from the great and became greater unfortunatly he would ONLY refere to Elvis to say that he Brock all time records that belonged to Elvis. MJ became great, but Elvis was the MAN the begining and the end, all that came after were great fine and great "imitations" .

Elvis The Pelvis! His moves were considered vulgar by some. "Don't Be Cruel" is a good song. He performs it on The Ed Sullivan Show. Note that the camera only views him from the waist up, because his gyrations were to scandalous. But just a month later, he is back on performing "Hound Dog" & the camera catches his entire performance. The girls go crazy!

I've watched a lot of reactions and this one's in my top 3 maybe even #1. Very entertaining!! Elvis didn't really dance. He just reacted to how the music made him feel. Where did he learn this? He grew up in a church where moving to the music was a thing for everybody. He slipped into black churches and attended gospel shows. He lived near and in black neighborhoods as a child and loved to watch people singing the blues on their porches and went to black house parties to see them dance. When he moved to Memphis at the age of 13, he loved to go to Beale Street which was a hub for R & B clubs. Nothing was ever choreographed for his stage shows. The band had to be alert because Elvis was very spontaneous, and he didn't even know what he'd be doing from one minute to the next.

Elvis became an almost overnight sensation, because he danced. If you watch the documentary Elvis & The Black Community Part 1, your will see Elvis around 1954 when he first performed, & for the first time, a singer danced while singing. That had never happened before. Singers stood still & sang, but Elvis used to say, if he couldn’t move, he couldn’t sing. Parents said it was vulgar & indecent so when he was televised, he was censored from the waist down, & only filmed from the waist up. It was incredibly frustrating for him, but he refused to perform standing still as he sang. Your Reactions to Elvis are always entertaining.

@@ABtheKreator It's Dawne, like the sunrise, but with a silent "e". lol You did great with picking this song...this was from Elvis' third movie, also titled "Jailhouse Rock". His first movie was "Love Me Tender", a cowboy movie and he sings and dances...and the best song in that movie is of course called "Love Me Tender". It'll make your heart melt.

Elvis could move like no one else. That's why he earned the nickname Elvis the Pelvis. Banned on early TV from showing his gyrations because they were considered too obscene. Michael Jackson was definitely influenced by Elvis and so obsessed with him that he married Elvis' daugher Lisa Marie after all!

They didn’t call him Elvis the pelvis for nothin. They would only film him waist up. And yes his dancing was huge influence on Michael Jackson. His gospel is outstanding.
