Wow What a monumental performance. A great song and and saying it was a powerful performance is an understatement.I never heard this. Elvis' voice is incredible. He sounded like an opera singer by the end of the song. This one performance alone proves Elvis was the greatest singer. He dedicated his whole life to singing. That was his calling and his God given gift. I like the way you analyze in detail how Elvis sang. I like your reaction.

Thank you Dani for bringing this 'oldie' back to life. Elvis sang this with such power and emotion and to think he was suffering from so many illnesses and that he would leave this world only months later. He was the master of entertainment and best of all he really adored his fans - never failing them to the very end. God Bless him. N.

Hi Dani. The photo of Elvis on his back, is from his performance of "Hurt" from the same New Years Eve show. He falls on his back when he does a reprise of the ending. Here is the link to the video --> kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKiliH2pj5qAo7M \ The reason I'm an Elvis fan all my life is because of my father as well. @@alameas6358 hi my alamea....just checking up on you...I just saw on the elvisistheman channel where BLM graffitied Graceland wall and toilet papered some trees. They wrote all over the wall and sidewalk....Graceland needs better security and cameras! !! it was upsetting to see the desecration . These people need to be held accountable just like everyone else should be when breaking laws.I can only imagine what they would have done to his home if they wanted to....this type of damage and worse is happening all over our country ...looting..innocent people being beaten up or killed.. Burning businesses.. Theatening people .... death threats to people walking down the streets ...and yet there are many people who want the police depts. defunded ....incredible!!! does that mean that not only will citizens not have access to help when there lives and property are threatened but the politcians too??? and there are those who want to take away our 2nd ammendment right to protect ourselves and our families ...what ..so only criminals and violent protesters who want to take over can just hurt and kill and not allow innocent citizens to protect themselves???? If politicians want some of these laws in place then it needs to be applied to their lives also. Unless of course THEIR LIVES MATTER MORE!!!! Sorry to vent to you but there is so much " mob rule" and crazy things going on ....it is hard not to speak up ...

@@suzyq7748 🌺 Hy big sister, just read you message. That sounds horrible! Is it currently happened in Graceland? Who or what is BLM? And all the other things you described sound really bad. Do you know what the reasons could be? Does all this happen maybe because of the common situation ( corona and the deaths in the black communitys)? What means the 2nd ammendment right and which people will take it away? Sorry for asking that much, but i'm interested in what you are talking about and my english is giving up when it comes to those special terms. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The other reason is that here in Germany, we have similar situations since a while. On Sunday they ( mob is the right word) wanted to storm the government building in Berlin only because of the corona restrictions. At least a few officers stand on the stages in front of the "people" and they said "if you want to storm this building, you have to kill us"! Fortunately they could be reasurred and calmed down! Very brave officers in my eyes! But it's scary to see something like this. The Germans actually are calm and reasonable. But all is different these days. I can totally understand your feelings. Please tell me your opinion about all these things that happened. I guess we have the same attitude about all these things! And because of that, a double portion of hugs and love to all of you! Tony Bennett sang the original in the 1950s. Elvis was such a great interpretive singer. He could always do an outstanding job covering another artist's song and make it his own. He does that here with "Rags To Riches". Also, he sounded fantastic singing it live. To fully appreciate Elvis incredible talent, people need to see and listen to his live performances.

Yes there is a great amount of super 8mm fan footage shot from this concert in Pittsburg, PA. With different camera angles from the crowd. Most of his concerts were filmed by fans who sneaked in video/audio devices....and thank God they did. You should check out other concerts, you'll find many gems for sure. As far as this one goes, look for the bootleg video 'The Night Of The Phoenix.' The title is in reference to the suit he was wearing called the Black Phoenix, which happened to be recommended by his girlfriend Ginger to wear that night. PEACE!

I turned around and saw the most handsome man singing so beautifully on tv . . . I stopped and said, "Who is that?", and they said, "That's Elvis!" Man, I was hooked! At that point, I listened to him all the time, got his records, bought all kinds of pictures, on and on! I got to see him in concert in 1973, or 1974, at The Forum in Los Angeles. I still love Elvis! Thank-You, Dani, love watching your reactions to the king. I believe what he's doing at the end of his words is the mark of an experienced singer. Annunciating so you hear the words clearly. If not the words become obscured and you can't follow the song. But I don't believe he had any professional training or voice coaching, he just knew so well how to sing to his audience.

Thank for your great reaction video - I love seeing younger people discovering, and being impressed with Elvis -- and not just assuming that he was nothing more than _Hound Dog_ and peanut butter & banana sandwiches. Lol This *New Year’s Eve '76-‘77* show was arguably Elvis’s last great concert. He appears to have lost quite a bit of weight. (FYI-- Elvis’s weight gain in later years was mostly water retention, due to health issues. It was a more “puffy” looking kind of heavy. He should have been getting medical attention instead of being on tour!) Anyway, for this show at least, Elvis looked awesome, and was in a great mood, probably due to being recently engaged to Ginger Alden. And vocally? Vocally he was just out of this world that night! It’s a shame this show didn’t get professionally taped. This should have been his *Elvis In Concert* TV special. And it contains the one and only time ever doing _Rags To Riches_ live. The musicians were taken by surprise, and you can hear Elvis giving a few queues to his band, who were taken off guard. For Elvis fans, this is a very rare gem, with some jaw-dropping power notes. In spite of declining health, Elvis’s voice just continued to get better and better. He’s my favorite singer by a wide margin - I’ve simply never heard anyone with better pipes. I'm hoping the audio and video will one day be AI-enhanced, so we can enjoy it even more. (Before we’re enslaved by said AI after conquering the Earth!)

You know what Dani? Elvis would be the luckiest guy alive if he had YOU. YOU would be the best woman for him - no question about it.

Hi Dani, bet you did not know Elvis was a huge fan of Opera? Opera was a part of his personal record collection.

Only time performed live. The show was videos by numerous fans and a video was released called final countdown to midnight. Unfortunately footage of this song isn't great ! The bit with Elvis on his back is during reprise of hurt. Enjoyed the reaction Geordie Guy from England, goodnight xx lol

Oh my God, I got the chills. I never heard him to this song. This was one of my dad’s favorite songs. I think my dad’s spirit brought me to this video, and Elvis too. I also lost my sister George Ayn to cancer and I envision her hanging with Elvis. She wanted to marry him.

Awesome to hear this live. Thank you for sharing this underdog hidden gem. Could you review "Just Pretend" by Elvis and/ or "to make you feel my love" written by Bob Dylan, sung by many, but Shane Filan's(from Westlife band) version. Thank you. God Bless you.

Hi Dani, this was at the Pgh PA New Year’s Eve concert 12/31/76. He sang “hurt” and we loved it so much, we were standing and clapping so he sang hurt again and at the end he rolled over in the floor. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ6rYY2radiLr5I. Then we all went really crazy!!! It’s a fan film so it’s not real clear but you can see it. He also sang Auld Land Syne to us.

I'm pretty sure there's a shot of him singing while lying on his back onstage in the movie Elvis On Tour.

Elvis could sing the high notes other artist Will strugle to do on his back. So impressiv was his voice. The king of music. Nobody can touch him. 🤘😎
