First released as the closing instrumental on Queen's eponymous 1973 debut, the final version of “Seven Seas of Rhye” reappeared on Queen II in 1974. When released, the song peaked at No. 10 on the UK Singles chart and gave Queen their first hit.

Fun fact: Freddie loved cats and at the time of his death he had 6 cats. Roger and Freddie had an art and clothing stall in Kensington market for a couple of years which is probably where the fur coat came from. The Killer Queen that Freddie is writing about is a high class call girl. This was the first Queen song I ever heard and is still one of my favourites. Brian wrote the beautiful harmonies. I love everything about it. Thanks for reacting to it!❤

I feel two ways about the sale / auction of Freddie's most beloved and personal items, nevertheless, Freddie loved and trusted Mary and therefore, I trust her. I believe Mary thought long and hard before deciding to have things auctioned off. In the end we are the winners because Freddie gave us his amazing, unstoppable voice and music to cherish forever and that is the greatest gift of all.

@@dimitrasotirakoglou2553 Freddie did *not* do all the harmonies alone in this song, nor in most of them. Brian’s and Roger’s harmonies were intrinsic to the success of Queen. For example, while it IS true that Freddie’s voice alone was all the harmonics in the *starting measures* of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, the so-called *Operatic Section* of the song was Freddie, Brian and Roger together (layered so many times they almost ruined the tape!). The only other time I know for sure is all-Freddie is the studio recording of “You Take My Breath Away”. Other than that, every harmony section I know of with Queen involved Roger, or Brian, or both of them. Freddie even said in an interview once that the guys were absolutely instrumental in creating “the delicate little harmonies in my songs”

My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone.

This song was their first Top 40 hit in the US, in 1974. A year later, "Bohemian Rhapsody" came out and the rest is history. Also, the great thing about Queen is that all 4 of them wrote number 1 hits, not just Freddie Mercury, even bassplayer John Deacon, the quiet guy, wrote some of the biggest hits like "Another One Bites the Dust", "You’re My Best Friend" and "I Want to Break Free".

Not sure if you knew, but if you use anything from _Queen Official Channel_ , you don't need to worry about copyright stuff or blocking or putting an overlay on the video. Queen (at the moment until Sony takes over perhaps, not sure yet) - Roger and Brian - love for people to share their music and videos. Brian and Roger have both talked about how they _hated_ doing _Top of the Pops_ , including this song. Live is amazing... _Montreal '86_ has a "Killer Queen"/"I'm in Love With My Car" medly and it's way fun... and hearing Roger sing like crazy while banging on drums beautifully is just a whole pleasure on its own. (Roger is pleasure incarnate.) One more teensy thing. It isn't uncommon for "Killer Queen" to be thought of as an homage to cocaine. It was THE drug of the 70s and early 80s and they partook... um... _often_ . We all intepret our own way though, right?

Top Of The Pops was a very popular British musical televison show between the 60s and the early 2000s, but all performances were playback. If you listen to it attentively once again, you will notice, that Freddie was harmoninsing with himself. Roger said: “Killer Queen always felt a bit special. It was very sophisticated and it was very Freddie! It had a slightly Noël Coward…element in it.”

I am always amazed at people who say "that song is too long" or "that movie is three hours long!" We live in a time of short attention spans, and we have been conditioned to that. A song should be as long as it takes to tell the story, and the same for a movie. I'm insulted when a theatrical release of a masterpiece like "Lord of the Rings" is cut down for an ignorant audience, then we see an extended version, or "director's cut," where it enhances the story greatly. A great song always ends too soon, and I'm so glad you understand that. Stacy, if you want to hear, maybe, the only song on the level of Bohemian Rhapsody ... try "The Prophet's Song" from A Night At the Opera. There is not a good representation of it live, but it's almost unknown, except to true Queen fans, but it's Brian's magnum opus. Brilliant beyond reason with a great backstory. It an equal to BoRhap.

This song deserves one and a thousand awards, more than just that Ivor Novello, or the little British distinctions, it is a perfect song. P.S. I also love Jojo's and Killer Queen is one of my favorite references with Bohemian Rhapsody and Made in Heaven.

These songs "seem short" because they are segments of an album meant to be played non-stop. These classic rock albums had themes that ran from start to finish. That is why some songs seem to borrow chord progressions from other songs on the same album. The artists are conveying a running concept much like a classic composer would do in the movements of a symphony...

Yah, that's MAX VAMP baby :) Sometimes, it's the time to do a serious rock epic like "Achilles Last Stand" or "Roundabout;" but sometimes, it's good to just let go and indulge in one like this or "Lola" by The Kinks, or "Renegade" by Styx, these sort of quick-blaster vocal rock bits for the fun of fun.

The album, Sheer Heart Attack from which Killer Queen is from is my favorite Queen record! Though I sometimes prefer their 1973 debut album as my favorite. The other tunes from this legendary 1974 album are "Brighton Rock", a great hard rock tune! And "Bring Back That Leroy Brown". This is Queen's sequel song to Jim Croce's 1973 hit song, "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown". And then there is "Stone Cold Crazy" which is considered to be the very first speed metal song. Other tunes like "Tenement Funster" is a Roger Taylor rocker. "Flick of the Wrist" is another Queen rocker followed by "Lily of the Valley", a short relaxing piano piece. And "Misfire" which is a John Deacon original. And also, "Now I'm Here", another Queen rocker! "Killer Queen" like many of Queen's songs show off their talented vocal harmonies. What I like best about Queen is the variety of musical genres they explore and use. They are not just another glam rock band. They are my no.2 most favorite band after The Beatles. While Led Zeppelin is technically superior to Queen, I tend to enjoy more Queen songs than LZ songs. Maybe its Queen's harmonies? Because LZ does not do vocal group harmonies. And LZ is too focused on Blues rock, where as I prefer more upbeat tunes like Killer Queen, Keep Yourself Alive, Don't Stop Me Now, Great King Rat, Dead On Time, Tie Your Mother Down, etc.

Try their song Brighton Rock it's definitely a very unique song that starts very weird but turns very heavy once Brian Mays guitar takes over.

You mention how fabulous Queen does harmony, I agree and I also suggest if you haven’t already listened to Kansas you should start with Carry On Wayward Son and Dust In The Wind. 2 completely different songs that I know you would love from the late 70’s early 80’s. One a total banger masterpiece and the other a beautiful haunting acoustical gem.

"Queen is amazing! Pop and rock wouldn't be the same without them. I grew up with their music and have many memories attached to songs like "Cool Cat" and "Radio Gaga." Of course, there are too many songs that I love and all the well-known hits too. Another long journey of great music and amazing vocals! Make sure to check out "Cool Cat" - most people cannot believe that's Freddie's voice! It was written by John Deacon (the bassist) and Freddie. Cheers!"

This has always been a favorite of mine. It's maybe my all-time favorite song. Bohemian Rhapsody gave it a run for its money but I'm going with Killer Queen.

Stacey I appreciate you because of your great queen reactions, I subscribed for this👍😊 I have some suggestions: If you want a very similar song to bohemian rhapsody, you should react to "March of the black queen" from queen. That's a and legendary and hidden gem song and a very long song from queen

Because I'm also a fan of Jojo you must have realized that there are a lot of references linked to music, like Polnareff who is a French pop singer.😉 Coming back to your reaction to Queen, it's really excellent and you still have so many gems to listen to from this group. 🤩 And of course congratulations on your 80k subscribers, as I said you will easily reach 100k before the end of the year. Bye'n'cha 🤗
