You’re a convert!!! I love it. He was the king. They called him that for a reason. You couldn’t take your eyes off of him. He owned the stage. Always unexpected and full of surprise and energy. Welcome to the gold.

Jane H commenting … I have seen this performance many times, but I still love watching it. Elvis held a black belt to 8th degree in karate, & he trained daily to keep himself fit, which allowed him to do those stretches with ease, while still singing. He loved to joke about on stage, & the musicians could also joke about with him, including the pianist, Glen, deliberately playing a completely different song to what Elvis had called out, during a performance …. & within seconds Elvis had switched to singing it, & the musicians had swiftly switched to playing it …. But Elvis had the last laugh. The musicians & backup singers were used to Elvis pulling lighthearted pranks on them, & the fans loved it. Great Reaction.

Yes the Break or hook of the song is very powerful, Elvis is definitely an original character.

Elvis did lots of improvisation and band had to keep up. He was always the conductor. Instead of a baton he used his body, air guitar and air drums. If you explore the talent of his band and backup singers...you'll discover they were all world class talents. Elvis always gave them props and seemed to have so much fun on stage. I've never heard of one of them not returning the love.

The black female singers were The Sweet Inspirations. The white woman was Millie Kirkham singing soprano. James Burton was on lead guitar. "Hard-workin' Ronnie Tutt" was on the drums. Mark James wrote the song and released it a year before Elvis did. I remember the studio version distinctly in the summer of 1969.

@ALL RELATIONS glad you're back hope you're doing all the guidelines like to CD says and not paying attention to Donald Trump who doesn't care maybe I shouldn't be being political but that's just my opinion I think it was way too early to open up all the the states that still have such heavy Coronavirus but that aside I'm glad to see you are okay and when it comes to your another second Tuesday I haven't actually checked your list but I would love for you to give your opinion on You've Lost That Loving Feeling 1970 Vegas shows that's all I can tell you I don't know how to send links or if you haven't done Bridge Over Troubled Waters which I felt Elvis cover songs but he makes him even more number one than the number one songs were the stage presence and the vocals at least two songs are some of the greatest that I've ever heard Elvis do and I've been listening to Elvis since I was 11 and I'm now 75 so I feel like I know a little bout kiss voice AKA Elvis Junkie

I think you are reading too much into the title of the song. He is addressing a relationship in which one of the parties doesn't trust the other and he is being bemoaning rhat fact.
