Elvis makes any song sound great. He put emotion in his song. He makes you feel what he's saying. There's is no comparison. Willie is a great song writer and good if you like his kind of music. Elvis is more than a singer He an Entertainer and a great one. So he not only sing he puts on a show.

Willie is good in his right. I'm not a big fan of his but he's a great writer and lots love him. We have discussions over this all the time. But it's like this Elvis can walk in the room and sing anything and it's like anything you can do I can do it better. He wouldn't say that because he was so humble so I say it for him.

Elvis’ version is emotional , powerful and so beautiful while Willy’s it’s a more casual and laidback, like he just picked up his guitar and started singing . I will never grow tired of listening to ELVIS.. NEVER.

Willie has such a tinny, nasal voice. Just not my cup of tea. Elvis had such a rounded, warm and well-produced voice in terms of singing from the diaphragm rather than the throat, much like classically trained singers....although he was not classically-trained!! His voice soothes my soul. Just my thoughts on it x

Willie does a good job to make it sound like a country song whereas Elvis's version is totally pop and so much better in my honest opinion. In the UK The Pet Shop Boys did a version and it got to No 1 in the UK charts 🎶🎤🎵🎧🎸

I was told people in Europe laugh at Willie’s version but Elvis’ version is the standard there but here in the States is the other way. Even Willie says, “it was a big hit for him but it belongs to Elvis, it’s his song”.

The crazy thing is (like many of today's Elvis world hits) his record company (then RCA now Sony) did little or no promotion for it. His manager didn't advertise either because he said: "I don't have to spend any money on advertising for Elvis - Elvis sells himself"). Worse still, Elvis- "Always On My Mind" was released on a cheap album you could only buy at the grocery store. Back then it was just one song among many others. It was similar with "in the ghetto" and "suspicious mind". Elvis manager didn't want elvis to record this song because it was too political for elvis manager. Elvis recorded it anyway and paid for the song rights out of his own pocket. With "suspicious mind" elvis manager didn't want to pay the full song rights and didn't buy the song rights. But Elvis Presley wanted to record this song and paid for it again out of his own pocket. elvis manager was angry both times. While other stars and their managers spent lots and lots of money on advertising to increase sales, 90% of Elvis' albums never went to market and never received advertising. nevertheless, today elvis has the most number one hits.

For me it's Willie's version -- sad, wistful, and tinged with regret. The arrangement on the Elvis recording is overproduced, IMHO, and too fast. This song is about looking back on a failed love affair, and Willie just captures that feeling better than Elvis.
