Elvis had a amazing voice! One of a kind. His cute stuff in the 50s really didn’t show his vocals. In the 70s was when he really showed his range and true vocals. I love the 70s music because he really dug deep and let it all out. So glad we have these recorded .. forever. As long as we have these recordings we have him.

I think the best version of Trilogy he ever did was the one in the afternoon show at Madison Square Garden, the performance that earned him the name, Prince From Another Planet. I was having a beer in a local bar last year when I played the song on the jukebox through my phone. As Elvis voice cut like a laser with that first "Hallelujah," a gal at the end of the bar said "Who is that? His voice makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up." I was astounded to learn that there were people who no longer knew the sound of Elvis. Elvis got a hell of an ovation with that performance, and then the crowd went absolutely insane when he asked that the house lights be brought up so he could see them. I think that day was the very peak of his career.

I have often said the same thing. It was a miracle that he survived as long as he did without it going to his head. Anyone else would have had a massive ego, if they had even lived that long.
@anY-bf9ud3 жыл бұрын
Wow, vocal excellence no wonder he received a standing ovation. Elvis only ever wanted to do the best for his fans, sometimes the audiences were not always appreciative of the hard work and effort he put into his performances, so to see the crowd standing and applauding he felt their appreciation and was humbled. 1975 was a very difficult year for Elvis, hospitalised a few times. One time being in the same room alongside his father in the hospital, it's said he sobbed as he was blamed the for distress and worry causing his father's heart attack. It must have hurt him deeply as he also blamed himself for his mother's worry which led to her death. Elvis always put aside his own troubles to put on a show for his fans, this video being a true example of it.

I wonder what his reaction would be if I could take a time machine, go back to 1972 and show him what is going to happen if he does not change his path. It would make an interesting science fiction story. I can see Elvis looking at me skeptically once I got his attention, and then I show him a cellphone. He would look at it with amazement for a few minutes, watching the video of his last performance in 1977, clip from the beginning of the show where he is singing See See Rider. When the clip ends, he would stare off into space for a long moment before he picked up his telephone to tell Joe Esposito to take all his calls until further notice and have someone bring a pot of coffee to his room. Then he would look at me with a deep and penetrating gaze before saying, "Please tell me everything."

Thanks for posting this video of Elvis thanking the audience for their reaction to him performing American Trilogy at this concert. I know you've done a couple of Elvis/Beatles videos. I came across an Elvis video posted by merseyboys. The video is a short audio recording at a 1972 party at Graceland, with Elvis performing a little bit of John Lennon's song Imagine, which I never knew Elvis did! You may want to check that out.

@@ElvisistheMan_ I think you're right about the Elvis/Imagine video being click bait. I played it again, and thought that the voice sounding like Elvis (while sounding like him) sounded too deep. Another video, related to this, was supposedly Elvis singing several Beatles songs, including Strawberry Fields Forever, at the same Graceland party. This longer Elvis video was posted by a guy named Stevie Riks, who has several KZbin videos supposedly of artists performing together who never did, including some of John and Paul after the Beatles break up. Sorry about letting you know about this. I should have known better (Isn't that also the title of a Beatles song? haha.

Hi! I am a male from Finland. Jouni is a Lappish name originally. When five I listened to Elvis though I didn't know even his name. I've given away original albums, books etc. to my "kids" as well to strangers who appreciate Elvis. I collect only vinyl albums. But. Got hundreds of them and still some unwrapped. Love Elvis but then again can't listen to... well, "Chesay" or watch the movie it's included in. Did try to... I've read anything I've found about Elvis so I can say once again: Elvis was and wasn't humble because he was so flamboyant as well. L.P.S. = Longus Post Scriptum: watched / listened to you for some time and then subscribed to your channel. "I beg of you" "give me the right" to "such an easy question" "just because" "it's only love" for "somebody bigger than you and I" so "tell me why" "who am I" but a "puppet on a string" when it comes to Elvis? Keep up the good work ❤
