I had the pleasure of talking to Edie Hand who' would visit Graceland with her grandmother who was Minnie Mae's sister. She was very honest unlike relatives who swear Elvis carried them around in his back pocket. She acknowledged that Elvis most often was out of town when members of the family gathered at Graceland or didn't come downstairs but she did meet him when she was teenager. I asked her if he was as great looking as people say and she said, "Oh, yeah. The movies and the photos of him didn't begin to do him justice" and at the one meal she was there for when Elvis was actually home Minnie Mae said to him, " Elvis you're so pretty, you should have been born a girl." Everyone laughed because Elvis turned beet red.

That laugh and giggle is so playful. What a darling. Born with it all running in has veins plus, he’s the most beautiful (if I can say that) handsome man ever. Adonis in flesh! That smile takes away your knees. We’re so fortunate to have his legacy and to be able to see him anytime. Thank technology and thank you Elvis Presley. So happy I was around. Yes and No The Beatles did videos back in 1965-66 because they couldn’t do normal TV appearances anymore so they sent out films for songs like Rain & Lady Madonna to American Bandstand and the Ed Sullivan Show. And A Hard Days Night was basically an extended music video But to be fair, Elvis definitely elevated the idea with his ‘68 special. The choreography and Unplugged segments alone set it apart

When I first saw the beginning of the 68 special, he standing or sitting there with people soooo close to him, I almost felt it like he was in my living room, so damn close, and totally in black, his black hair super perfect, he looked like a super human, his magical face.
