I remember the early days of EFRT when Carol was camera shy and mute… Then to see and feel her excitement has added even more natural energy to the videos like today’s episode. And yes you need a bike of some kind, a battery pack for the engine compartment battery and cables (backup, you never know) Although I am surprised that the company that built your truck didn’t include that kind of utility

Hey guys, been watching you for quite a few years. What a life you’ve created. I have a diesel 3500 Dodge with a 1181 Lance truck camper. The battery died in a campground. I had to have someone come and jumpstart me. After doing some research, I found an NOCO 70. It jumpstarts the big diesel engines. Amazon sells them for $199 and the case for $29. I just check the charge on them about every three months. Still vertical at 78 years old.

@@waynejackson3707 I bought the same NOCO GB70 model after trying and returning the lower power and cheaper ones from Costco. I had a faulty battery die on me so rapidly one weekend in Banff that I needed to boost it each time I wanted to start it even after driving for three hours. The NOCO had enough charge to start it three times without recharging it. I have a DODGE Pleasureway. I Don’t leave home without the NOCO and my tire inflator! Peace of mind!

Morning Carol and Peter..... He have a F250 diesel and purchased a NOCO Boost PRO. We actually used it twice, first was with the truck, I was having problems with start batteries and used the NOCO to jump start the truck. The second time was with our toy hauler trailer, We were at a campground and when we were packing up to head home, I found that the trailers battery charger failed and the batteries ran down. Actually ran down to the pint where I could not bring in the electric awning or use the electric tongue jack to raise the front end up to attach the trailer to the truck. Again I just connected the NOCO to the camper batteries which allowed me to bring in the awning and operate the tongue jack. I just store the NOCO under the rear seats storage area and about every six months bring it in for a quick top off charge, So twice the NOCO saved us.... Have a great day and keep those videos coming. Jeff

You should get a Jump Starter for your truck. You don't need another vehicle to jump you. They are small light weight and charge with USB. Mine holds a charge a very long time if unused. I have Ford E 350, it's my safety net when the unexpected happens. I've never had to use for my rig but I've used it on other folks. Thanks for the travels ✌☮

Pete, please, consider a dual AGM (Odyssey) battery system. I run a Genesis brand dual battery circuitry. If you opt for an AGM battery, be sure to have a means to adjust the alternator output to 14.5-14.8 volts DC. I replaced the charging circuit fuse with a 1 ohm diode in turn, allowing my charging system to operate at 14.8 volts maximum. All without any issues since the install. I has a professional install for the dual battery system. Given AGM batteries operate there. Most systems operate around 13.8 volts. Which will shorten an AGM battery life. Cheers, Mate.

Loved the beaches better than Washington, but that has changed since I took my wife to Seaside and the beach had so much garbage and broken glass in the sand, it was a big disappointment how it changed in 30+ years, now we don't mind going to Ocean Shores or Copalis beach.

A few ups, and a few downs. That is what life is about. You folks are Great at taking it as it comes. Is there a way to run a dedicated power line from the back where your Li batteries are up to the engine compartment? Make it so you either can flip a switch to direct power to your engine battery, or physically attach wires to the start battery so it could naturally charge over an hour or two. I'm not an electrician, so I don't know if this would work. The music drop as Carol was casting and then picking back up was fantastic; a good way to add levity after Peter's accident with the nail. I hope your foot is better!!

Rossmonster indicates that they offer a jump-start function on the Baja that allows the camper to jump-start the chassis if that battery is depleted. I'd contact Luke and team to discuss the option as we have a similar capability on both our 4x4 RV and Jeep house bank. It surely is better than carrying more devices or overly complicating a solution that may already be easily leveraged.

Pete, couldn’t you have a cable run from your solar system up to your truck battery to charge it? You could have a switch installed that would only be turned on if you needed it. I’m no mechanic but it seems to be something to explore. Also one of those inexpensive batteries that you keep charged and plug it into a 12 volt port in the cab to back-charge the battery. I’m sure you’ve thought about that by now!!!

You need to get the Antigravity Heavy Duty battery jumper. It will jump a diesel in heartbeat.

Agree, you should be okay from the nail wound, besides your aired it so you must be good. Also you got your daily dose of Fe for the week. Great camping sites, thanks for sharing. To raise the bar on your fly casting skills when there are obstructions behind you, try the roll cast technique.

Well, it happens. I would have thought that solar system would have charged the truck battery. Either way, what a perfect spot.

I have one of the Cascadia 4x4 solar systems on my hood to prevent those issues and I have a Noco. Cascadia is a Vancouver BC company. They might have one that would fit your truck.

Check with Rossmonster regarding your Victron Energy lithium system as typically when these systems are installed on an RV there is typically an option to engage a switch that allows a “jump start” of the starter battery from the house batteries. If Rossmonster installed this relay it may be the quick fix you need or have it installed and you won't need to carry more stuff!!!

OUCH! And you said you would be careful.............. I can't wait to see Carol catch some fish using her fly rod! She has gotten so good at using it no comment about snagging the tree because every fisherman does that, some more than others. It's better than snagging another fisherman! That water there is so crystal clear. I don't know if you crossed the Colorado River when you were in Yuma, Ariz,. but it is just muddy ugly looking water. You all always seem to find places with crystal clear water. May you all continue to have safe travels, wonderful adventures, beautiful scenery, God's blessing, protection, and providing your needs.

Just saw you on Vancity Vanlife's channel. Enjoy your visit. Can't wait to see your videos. BC is home, and it's amazing; however, the rest of the country is beautiful too. You should really try tidal bore rafting in the Bay of Fundy. It's a unique experience.
