For my Star Wars fans. There is a game called Squad (2015), there are multiple dedicated Star Wars mod servers running 24/7 pretty sure they are server side mods so you dont have to download anything but the game. The maps are huge and incredible and there is a massive diversity of classes and vehicles. Its essentially Star Wars Arma. If you are looking for a fun multiplayer Star Wars game its the best out there. EA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT US. Luckly its 2024 and passionate people can do EAs job better than EA can. Look up Squad 2015 Star Wars mod i promise it will fill that void.

For those of you who don’t know, Aspyr is a company that Star Wars gets sent to to die. There was another game I used to play called Star Wars Commander, a clash of clans style mobile game that was actually amazing when it had its creator developer team in charge. Basically they sold the rights to Aspyr and the quality of life changes that brought made the game nearly unplayable, so they have a ‘record’.

When the original battlefront was released, I worked for the datacenter that Lucasarts partnered with to launch ranked servers. We had just developed a platform for rapid server deployment, and this was our first real test. Deploy 300 or so servers for a single customer. This sounds like nothing compared to today’s level of deployment, but back then, getting 300+ physical servers online and running their custom configurations was a massive deal. And we pulled it off in the timeframe they demanded. But yeah, 300+ servers then, and 3 now? WTF. Yeah, they might not have needed 300+ again, but that’s not the point. Lucasarts knew better, and whoever launched this was just negligent.

I've said it since 2002: too many software are made with the idea a greater PC capabilities mean less need to worry about efficient use of resources. Before: "we need this to fit in a few GB because nobody has more than 20GB", now "people have TB disks, so why bother trying to make our files smaller? When you don't know where the size comes from, there's 95% chance it's the textures. And as a reminder: every time you double the resolution of the texture - you make the disk size 4 times bigger (because textures have horizontal and vertical size, so 1024x1024 is 4 times bigger than 512x512, and 4k is 4 times bigger than 2k). They also probably didn't do any quality control. Like, surely you don't need 4k (or even 2k, for that matter) on anything but most important stuff, such as First-Person weapon models or some characters in cutscenes. Most likely explanation is that they just upscaled EVERY texture to 4k and left it at that. So yes, there's a very high chance that there's random rock on Naboo that has a 4k texture and some excessive polygon count.

I don’t think a lot of people actually played this game prior to this collection being released, I have consistently played both original battlefronts since they were released two decades ago since I was a kid, this game is no different than it was twenty years ago, the multiplayer issues that people are whining about were issues back in the day as well, just because the games are added to new gems doesn’t mean they will magically run better, these games need to be completely remade in an up to date fashion for that, so pretty much the people that whine about it being forty dollars and the multiplayer not running like Cod MW3, have pretty much ripped themselves off because they didn’t know what the product was and that don’t understand how technology works. Now I do agree with the cutscenes glitches, they shouldn’t have released the game with buggy ending cutscenes but again when you’ve played the game for two decades you kind of don’t care about stuff like that.

24gb of movie files since they are upscaled too to 8k, textures are 8k ai upscaled which results in most maps = being over 1gb per map = 30 maps = 30-35gb (i think there are more than 30, but some are pretty small & only 500mb big) the textures do look pretty sharp and high res but doesnt help the fact that the textures are old - so the campaign is okay but the most important part being the mp, its unplayable (bf1 is better but still has issues) - heard console like switch dont face as many issues as the pc version like the lag

The size is probably a result of them upscaling all of the textures, not compressing them, and refusing to use compressed audio. Games companies are waaaay too comfortable doing this. In 2005 the original Battlefront used compression for all of the data since discs could only hold 5 to 10 gb at most.

The campaign plays like shit on the Steam port for Battlefront 2 and the first game is dead. I have several hours on the originals. This, I've been playing the campaigns and they work fine, the space battle controls are relatively smooth too. These are for console players. I can play one of my favorite games on the TV now. If you're on PC ans bought the re-releases, yeah, you're a bit of a dunce because the originals are like $10 each off-sale. But if you don't play on PC, or don't want to play on PC, than that's pretty much what the collection is there for. Also the Xbox backwards compatible ports not even having the Xbox Live exclusive DLC. Although they ARE there as a cheaper option, no online though for those ones.

@@loremaster6828 100% on Elite the enemy AI are ruthless. I have several unfinished Galactic Conquest saves because your friendly AI are worthless and you have to do half of the work. The Steam port feels nothing like the original games on PS3 and Xbox did in terms of difficulty. The Classic Collection atleast feels more like the original console ports and the Elite AI aren't too difficult, but both the enemy and friendly AI will duke it out and use theit equipment more. Space battles feel a little more fleshed out too, I'm not sure what it is but on PC whenever I play a space battle, my teams numbers drop like flies. In the collection there's more back and fourth, but a little bit faster because the AI isn't as dumbed down as the original console versions. The auto-turrets have better aim though, so they will do a lot of damage and you gotta do some maneuvers. But it's honestly a blast playing space battles again with a controller. The Geonosis mission on Battlefront (1) is still hard as hell though. Feels even harder now because the AI is constantly locking-on to you with rockets just like on the PC version. 😂

This is one of the biggest negative consequences of online game updates: devs get lazy and complacent as they feel confident that “we can always patch it later”. Prior to online updates, games HAD to work on launch. If there was a game-breaking glitch, they could not recall millions of disks or cartridges in order to issue new ones. You got one shot to release it properly, so quality assurance was a HUGE deal. Now, it’s almost an afterthought; money NOW, make it work later.

The only real advantage is fixing point-of-aim to correct crosshair level and 64 bit executable, so when it goes on sale modders can MAYBE make it significantly better. The reason the original is so low in storage is because all the textures are just 512x512 which only takes up 1mb. A 4k texture is 16mb and an 8k texture is 100mb
