I was like that, when i opened up to my mom being asexual. Luckily, the conversation went well, and she doesn't look at me any different. But you and I have that in common. Finding a relationship is hard, especially when you come out and tell your partner that your an Ace. Everyday i tell myself, if i'll be able to find the right person for me? Will he acknowledge me for who i am? When it came to relationships, i don't mind hugs and kisses, but i feel like something was off, and why do I feel insecure, or seem to have a mixture of emotions, like shy, insecurity, or just awkward, i mean we talk and have a normal conversation but idk why i feel like this to every guy. But, now the crushes or exes that ive had in the past are all taken, ive learn to accept myself for who i am as an individual, and i learn that i don't need a guy to be happy. If they can't see the real you, then they're not worth it.

I'm going to infodump now. So hi! You'd like a black ring? Cool n_n (Don't want one, scroll below) I've worn some over the years and this is what I've found. Haematite: Don't drop it. It will shatter. Feels nice tho. Good weight Tungsten carbide: The most durable. Heavy. Glossiness depends on the finish. Best for everyday wear. Ceramic: Usually looks most impressive, but tends to wear down a lot. Best for formal. Rubber: Cheapest and least restrictive to wear, but doesn't breathe well. Will wear down. Titanium: tends to be coated and the colour will wear off. but is good if you want to switch out rings every once in a while Cheapest place to buy is aliexpress. At least so far in my experience. Search for 'black ring' and add material. You don't like to wear a ring? Consider wearing it on a chain around you neck Could tattoo it on if that's your thing. Pins and badges are an option. So are bracelets as mentioned in this vid. The ring is a symbol for you to remember that you're not alone. It is not some sort of a test to be included. Not wearing the ring won't make you any less of an ace. Only you can decide your sexuality. Only you can know how you experience sexual attraction. You say you're ace? Congrats, you ace. That is literally it. Some gatekeeping asshole trying to tell you that you are not ace because X, Y or Z... never mind them. Are they ace? If they think so, yeah. As an addendum to this awesome comment I would 100% recommend a Tungsten Carbide ring. They can be really affordable if you buy them on eBay etc. To combat the weight problem I would suggest purchasing the 4mm ring, it’s smaller but a much more manageable weight than the 6mm (so heavy). Now that I own a 4mm ring I wear it every day.

I recently started to identity as Asexual and for Christmas my boyfriend bought me a pin that is in the Ace colors and one of my co-workers that I have gotten close with made me a sticker with the Ace colors on it. These things hit me rather hard because I have never really seen any Ace stuff either. I would love to wear the pin around and have it with me at all times but since I'm only 15, almost 16, and my parents aren't very accepting of me being trans it's hard to even tell them I'm Ace as well because every time I explain Asexuality and it's spectrum they think it's weird or "bullshit" because of how difference it is for different people. And I do feel broken a lot because of it and because of how I don't like any things teens these days like. For example I'd rather stay inside and cosplay instead of drink and smoke. I feel really abnormal and not to many people talk about Asexuality so I feel better when I hear you talking about it. So thank you.

The ring that I have on my right middle finger is actually a stainless steel heart ring that my biological grandfather made for my grandmother and she gave to me. I know it's not the black ring, but to me I enjoy it and it helps me remember who I am as well as remember my grandfather because I never really got to meet him I only met him once when I was 2 years old.

I also wear a black ring on the middle finger of my right hand to represent the fact that I'm asexual, to remind myself that I'm not alone and to showcase that my sexuality is valid. I never really knew the story behind it though so it was nice to learn more about it's history. I remember buying mine online and I was so happy when it came, I literally almost cried lol. I've been wearing a hematite ring that can be found in gem shops. They usually are under $10, actually pretty sure I've picked them up for like 3 or 4 bucks. Easy to replace :) it's a nice silvery black.

STORY TIME: I told my husband last night that I had been looking into Ace stuff because ... we've been married 2 years and his need for sex kind of clashing with my indifference or even fear of it has been a point of conflict. He is sometimes very insecure about the fact that I very, very rarely initiate with him, and struggles with the fear that I don't find him sexually attractive. And I went through a lot of troubleshooting in the past two years. Maybe it was my birthcontrol, so I changed birth control. Maybe it had to do with my history with sexual assault, so I took steps for closure with that. Maybe if I made a conscious effort to meet a specific arbitrary quota of 3 times a week, I would start to crave it, because I like routine and I enjoy fulfilling his needs. And I still spend a lot of time feeling inadequate and in physical pain because sex is only enjoyable to me for about 8-15 minutes at a time. Then I found out my friend's husband is ace, and their marriage looks pretty stable, so maybe it IS possible to be happily married and not crave sex. Anyway, that's what led me to type "Ace" into youtube. And find out that it's completely possible to be romantically or even sensually attracted to someone *without* being sexually attracted to them. That libido and sexual attraction aren't the same thing, that *none* of these things are one thing. I have always believed there can't be love without trust, so even though I was worried Aaron might misinterpret what I was saying, that I might hurt his feelings, I told him what I had learned and that I think I might fall somewhere on that spectrum, and after a slightly confused, "Are you sure?" because he thought ace was some variety of bisexual, and I'm definitely not that, lol, he was very supportive and understanding. Just held me and pressed kisses to my forehead while I explained. If you've stuck with me this far and you're willing to risk a toothache from all of the sweet ---- I think he really enjoyed my example story of when we were still dating back in GA, and I was curled up in a patch of sunshine with my head in his lap thinking about how I would very much like to be his pet cat. Just, you know, disappear for eight hours a day to hunt down dinner, come home, and sit in the last of the afternoon sun making biscuits on his leg while he petted me. That's the dream.

The chain's meant to be fiddled with as it sits loose on the band, so I find it easy to play with while I'm thinking or nervous/anxious about something. I was in the same place a little while ago, but after I came out my parents were really supportive and now I have some ace stuff. But I have a friend who goes to Hot Topic or target because they have a pride section. However, they don't usually find any ace stuff. But pretty much any clothing store has a jewelry section where they sell black rings. I actually have a black and silver ring as well. But I decided to wear it on the left hand. Because I rather identify with ace as the umbrella term. So I thought, if I were to wear it on the right hand, I felt like I was forcing an absolute on to me. (I know that sounds weird.) But part of my identity is that I cannot see myself with someone else and therefore kind of decided to be permanently single. (This is a decision I made to feel comfortable around people. I am not interested in people, at least not in romantic or sexual relationships, but I am easily attached to my friends. And if they were to ask me out, I´d feel forced to say yes and I want to avoid that. This might change when I grow older, but right now I want to feel like myself and the umbrella term aro/ace just really helps me with that.) That said, I didn´t know the story you just told us. And I am so happy, because now it makes even more sense to me to wear my ring on my left hand ^^

I e been pretty isolated for various reason except for going to therapy. My therapist at the time was unabashedly out a genderfluid lesbian. We talked about gender and orientation occasionally; after reading a bit about being ace I finally said it out loud for the first time really. No big deal was made but I left glowing because I knew that one piece of my puzzle isn’t broken, its a lucious black, grey, white, and purple cake. Love you all. 💜

I discovered the term 'asexual' four-five years ago through a friend in college. At the time I was going through a confusing and annoying time trying to identify my feelings toward this guy I was with--I was friends with him since middle school but by our second date I wasn't feeling it'd work between us and ended it off. Hearing the term "asexual" really clicked and sat right with me and the feeling of closure I felt when I was directed to AVEN by this friend another friend of mine. Since then, I've grown so much more confident and comfortable in my skin, even if I've yet to find a guy who respects and believes me and my orientation. I am still over the moon to have solace that there was never anything wrong with me. Over the course of the years, my amazing friends have gotten me ace-related things--pins and stickers--that I look forward to wearing proudly once I am out of my parents' house as I am not out to them. At some point, I learned about the Ace Ring and for years I have wanted one, but was unable to get one for myself due to my parents. Anywho, this Christmas one of my friends finally got one for me and I am currently wearing it as a necklace until we get it resized. I recently came out as aroace. I always knew I was different since I wasn't interested in the same things my friends and classmates were: dating, having sex, and finding the "one" person for you. However, my friends and many of my classmates thought that I won't know until I try dating someone. I decided to give it at chance, but I'd never enjoyed it. I didn't like when my ex kissed me or held my hand. I just found it odd and annoying. After breaking up, I felt a sense of relief and peace while my ex took our break up hard. This made me wonder if I ever loved him since I didn't feel sad or anything. Then I decided to date a close coworker who I'd enjoyed talking with, but as soon as we started dating, I felt trapped and uncomfortable. I hated when he kissed me and held my hand. I decided to break up and the same thing happened again. I didn't feel sad while my ex took it hard and we ended in bad terms. I thought that something was wrong me, but decided to ignore it and move on. Then I dated someone again and once again, I began to feel trapped. At first, I thought it was the stress of school, but one late night, everything changed. On that night, there was a video on my recommendations feed about knowing if you're asexual. At first, it confused me since the only thing I could think of was about marine biology stuff. Once I watched the video, I was shock. I began to feel ashamed and even in denial because I thought it couldn't be possible. As I did more research, it hit me. It was hard explaining to my ex since I decided to brake up when I came out. He was a bit heartbroken, but understood me. Lately, I've been feeling broken and weird since this is so new to me, but when I saw your video about the rings, it shook my heart. I know I should be embracing my asexuality as part of who I am, but it has been hard due to society literally pushing sex and romance as the norm. But when I heard your words and the meaning of the ring, I never felt so happy. Thank you! I'm definitely gonna get both the asexual and aromantic rings to fully embrace who I am and let those who are asexual that they're not alone and should be proud for who they are. 😊

I made my ace ring by doing 'surgery' on a black hair tie. I cut it to size, then superglued the ends together (The hair tie was stretched out, and I don't need them anyways cause I got a pixie cut a few months ago btw)

I started wearing a ring lately for a number of reasons; - I've wanted a man ring for a while now. - Although I've known I'm ace for a few years, I classed myself as straight to most as it wasn't something I thought was of significance. I now want to embrace who I am more and start meeting people, and I feel like an ace ring would be a good discrete way of broadcasting myself to other aces (although I'd like to meet another ace, I'm open to anyone regardless of orientation). - And for non-ace people I meet, it's a good conversation-starter and a gentle way of opening the orientation discussion. - It reminds me that there are other aces hiding in the shadows like I am. One thing to keep in mind, wearing a black ring on any other finger than the middle can be mistaken for you being a swinger. It was a mutual agreement between the communities that swingers will respect the exclusive use of the middle finger by the ace community, and the rest of fingers to be used by the swinger community.

One rule of thumb for ring size is using your shoe size in US sizing. It doesn't work for everyone, but if you have no idea, it's a starting point :)

A long time after I found out that I was demi I decided to orn my earphones with the ace color, it a bit like making a bracelet around the main cable plus it protect it really well. Then I use my earphones on my daily basis. And one morning while I just put them away my colleague/good friend tell me " you know that's the ace colors ? I don’t have my ace ring yet, but it’s in the mail. I have a flag that needs to be ironed and a round pendant that has the ace flag on it. I am new to the ace community and just came out to my family two days ago. As soon as my sister in law saw my necklace, she was so happy and proud, and then my brother saw it and explained what it was. Everyone was so happy and proud of me coming out. My family loves me no matter what. I am nervous about telling my boyfriend though. We have been together for over 3 years, and I can tell he loves me very much, but he does come from a catholic family, so I don’t know how conservative his views are on this stuff. Our relationship might change. On the other hand, we’ve never been sexually active. In fact, I think he’s about as virgin as I am. And we’re both socially insecure nerds. Who knows? I first watched this video about a year ago, or maybe a year and a half, when I started my research to find out whether I'm ace or not (I'm still not 100% sure, as I am single as ever lmao, but I feel fine with identifying as such as long there is no evidence that I am not) I ever since wanted to get a ring, but I thought it to be kind of "impossible", as I am 16, never really go shopping and almost never wear juwelery, so I don't really have a clue how or where to get a proper ring. I also never wanted to ask my parents to buy me one as they would probably ask why it has to be a heavy black ring instead of something more "pretty" and I don't really want to come out to them just now. However, I am trying to calculate my ring size right now, as my sister asked me what I want for my birthday next month (she doesn't want to give me another book lmao) and I'm thinking to ask her if she could give me such a ring. I'm also gonna search for the material some person suggested, this was also a reason why I searched for this video again because I remembered that someone posted a comment with advice for buying a ring, so thank you to that person, I think it's gonna help a lot. So I'll ask my sister and tell her the details about the ring I want, I'm curious if it's gonna work out. I'm gonna come back to this comment in about a month or so, after my birthday, so I'm gonna tell you guys if I got the ring or not. Even though probably no one's gonna read this lmao 😂 Update: I got the ring... but we somewhere made a mistake calculating the size so we have to send it back and order a new one as it was too large... A few years I was randomly at a stand that sold various rings that were made out of stone. I love jewelry and because my sister broke a stone ring of mine a while back, I asked her if she would buy me a new one. She agreed, because they weren't that expensive and I looked througg them if I would find a nice one. In the end I was torn between a red one that was cut in a way that it had a really cool diamond look and a smooth black ring, that had a really nice width. I asked some friends who were there and in the end it was a hard decision, but I chose the black one. The ring only fitted on the middle finger of my right hand and it fitted like a glove. Years later I noticed that people were going crazy about boys or girls and I didn't, at that time people asked me if I was ace because of my ring, which I always denied. I was very sure, that I was straight. Well, turns out I wasn't. I had mental breakdowns, because I just didn't want sex and my relationship with my partner suffered because of it. One day I watched a video of someone explaining different sexualities and when he explained asexuality I thought to myself, hey I know that feeling... and that one too... wait a minute. I dug through the internet looking up everything I could find. I didn't relate to everything so I doubted myself a lot. In the end I came out to my best friend first and he was very supportive and after that I told my partner what I found out. I was prepared for him to leave, because he said that sex was important for him in a relationship, but he stayed! We're together for over three years now and I often ask him if he's fine with not having sex every time we see each other and he says that he is. I just wanted to share my story, if you're also ace you can find love and have a healthy relationship even with very little sexy time. 🖤🤍💜
