Hey Pete, on the first hand I actually think that it is a mistake to jam that on river. As you even said, the turn bet is super profitable, and we expect most villains to fold the underpairs 88-TT more often that GTO. And for that very reason, villains arrive to the river with a stronger range, and they kinda got rid of their river folding range on the turn already. So it doesnt seem like an amazing bluffing spot on the river with the A4ss.

As a comment on the first hand, you can also argue the opposite through a similar thought process: you can underbluff rivers because villain isn't calling enough marginal hands like 88-TT on the turn to justify the river bluff. They are arriving to the river with a range that is much stronger than optimal, so your bluff frequency should decrease to compensate. However, I do like bluffing these turns a lot because these marginal flop floats are PROBABLY closer to optimal than turn calls.

I feel like this video was made for me. I shy away from bluffing off stacks as it badly affects my mental game when it gets snapped off. Very useful video Pete.

Thanks again for another fantastic video Pete! And for those of you who struggle with the suck-outs and bad beats, Nick Eastwood (Easty22) has almost concurrently posted a video where the results will.. make you feel MUCH better about most anything that you think the universe has been psychologically whipping you for- it'll make you laugh and cry all at the same time! Certainly worth a watch!

In the first hand,if we think our rival is going to overfold hands like low pocket pairs to the small turn bet,then his range on the river will not be the same as solver suggest(will be stronger),thus,making our bluff not profitable cause we will be against tptk+ that our rival is not likely to fold.Does that make sense Pete?

Love this. RE last hand - already from watching your videos - when you mentioned what the 88 kind of range that villain could have I already said to myself ‘nope - too middling for that kind of flop size’ then you said exactly that - must be learning something!

That is why I like playing online. The action is much quicker and when you get a AA cracked you can just shrug and be happy of well played hand. I am pissed off when I play incorrectly even if I win.

Don't need to teach me this Pete, the only thing I'm better at than paying off a 2x overbet shove with a super under repped hand and all the best blockers... is blasting off 3 streets in a 3b pot and getting hero'd by an underpair

It feels bad to bluff a stack off, but it feels MUCH WORSE to call down and be wrong, let me tell you, as an extreme station. In that first hand, if we suppose villain isn't 3-bet-flatting many hands containing a jack, then what is he calling the flop with? over-cards, flush draws, and under-pairs, right? Then when the turn brings a queen, he shouldn't hit that card very much, unless he floated with AQ specifically, or he has exactly KQdd. And you are assuming that pool over-folds to this turn shell, which I agree with. It is a 4-bet pot, the only thing he is beating is AK, A4s at frequency, AJo or ATo at frequency, (or he thinks you're a maniac and you're full of shit, and if that's the case he's never folding to the river shove.) So anyway if he thinks you're reasonable, AK float is probably going to fold because he's OOP, underpairs to the jack are going to fold, even a jack might fold, or a bad flush draw, if he has that. So what is left? AQo that floated the flop, JJ, AA, KQdd, maybe QQ, QJs. It is a truism that if villain over-folds one street, then we can't profit by over-bluffing the next street because we give back the equity we gained with the turn bluff. If he's folded those weak pairs on the turn, what are you thinking he's going to fold? He will always fold his flush draws but there aren't too many of those that aren't paired up, and there are a decent number of traps. I guess we're trying to move him off of AQo, since combinatorically that's most of what his range is? Anyway I wouldn't do this in 12NL, I know better after 400k hands, maybe your pool is different and they will make the disciplined laydown of any one-pair hand other than AA.

Bruh, how can the EV between all 3 options be the same as folding and yet negative?
@bloopblah3848
@bloopblah3848 Жыл бұрын
I think he meant negative in terms of losing the opening(2bet) investment, not from point of action(after the fact the 2bet investment has been made). It's kind of a strange way to look at it, looking at things from point of action is what matters in terms of assessing decisions. If your hand is a indifferent to 4betting/calling/folding - Had you been able to see the future and known you would have gotten 3bet, the most profitable play would be to just fold the hand, and not open it... thus it being breakeven from point of action, not from start of hand. It's not breakeven from start of hand, it's only breakeven from point of decision. From start of hand it's losing the open size.
