I paid for a VIP meet and greet with Ian Brown after one of his gigs, it was a room of maybe 15-20 people. He turned up about 90 minutes late for it, took one step in the door, looked at the crowd and said 'nah, I ain't having this' and walked back out. None of us where even mad, it was pure Ian Brown behaviour. Very aloof character. 😂

Aloof? The man is just straight up rude, made some great music but not a great man. Threatening an air stewardess that he'll cut her hands off at the wrists is not cool, it's utter twat behaviour.

It's how you want a rockstars to be, my fave was always Mark E. Smith, another Manc. Fall gigs were the best, Mark had a knack of making you feel so unwelcome, like every gig was just a hinderance and he always looked like he wished he was somewhere else, you almost felt guilty just for turning up to a Fall gig! 🤣Greatest ever British band though!

Both LG and NG were hugely influenced by Stone Roses. Ian walks (in place) about 20 miles in a concert and never really goes anywhere. Ian Brown is a very good front man and quite deep, positive thinker. Mani, John and Reni are top top top at what they do. So do Fools Gold next!

@@davidcorbett1713 It was. What a top night. One minute I'm sat at work getting calls from mates and seeing rumours online to just saying to my boss, I'm going home. No explanations or anything. Then I'm riding my bike from work to the Parr Hall to get a ticket only to miss out by around 10 people. Luckily my wife had gone there earlier and got a wrist band for her, the kids and my son's mate, which was then given to me. I never thought I'd even get it on my wrist it was that tight. Straight into town and it was like everybody I'd ever knew was there. Mates, old mates, people from school. It was incredible. What a night. I didn't even go to Heaton Park in the end because I didn't think it could ever get better than that night.

The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays and Inspiral Carpets were the cornerstones of the madchester scene, You've done two of the three I recommend "She comes in the fall" live when you do the Inspirals. They were the band that got Noel into the music business, hired him as a roadie and showed him how to run a band! Also worth checking out Kula Shaker "Tattva" or "Hey dude" their Organ player/Keyboardist Jay ended up joining oasis and Reef "place your hands"

The instrumental was just about to kick in! And his swagger is because he’s from Manchester, same as Liam. Back then the acid house scene was just kicking of and Manchester was known as MADCHESTER. We had a different musical revolution begin with this very band, where as in the US grunge took of with Nivarna and you guys went in a different direction. Stone Roses first album in my opinion it’s one of the best albums ever. It was so revered that they struggle to produce a second album.

Ian Brown and John Squire were 10 years older than me and went to Altrincham Grammar School, less than 200 metres from the pub I grew up in and that we still run to this day. Ironically, Oasis base guitarist , Bonehead, moved to Hale after success and was a regular in our pub for years until quitting the booze. The Smiths also attribute Panic and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle to being written less than a mile from the pub. Tyson Fury, Ricky Hatton, Steven Spieblerg (in the 80's), countless ex and present Manchester United and numerous other Premier League footballers, Rugby World Cup winners, England Rugby Captain's, England Cricketers, European PGA Golfers, Soap Stars etc visit the pub, several on a regular basis. Man City players even celebrated the Premier League Title in our pub in 2018. You walk in and it doesn't matter who you are, everyone is treated the same. You're just another customer and the locals treat you like anyone else, that's why they love to come. The Railway inn, Hale

They always insisted they played live on Top of the pops, don't think they ever played a full track, always had technical issues as totp weren't equipped to do live performances. Check out some solo Ian brown tracks!

This was the opening track of their debut album in 1989. That brooding base line that slowly faded in. The superb little solos of John Squires guitar. That sublime swagger of Ian Browns vocals. The problem is that Ian Brown is really bad singing live. This is one of his best performances that I have seen and that is probably because he was obviously more concerned with what was going on off stage than his actual vocals. I was there at the Reading Festival in 1996 when I heard this live for the first time. That base line. That swagger. When he started to sing the crowd was pleading with him to stop singing and to just let Mani and Reni solo.

I was there too Bernard but wasn’t it 1995? and yea walked away in disgust I was heartbroken one of my all time favourite bands at the time bombed spectacularly! He was off his chops though to be fair and half the band had already quit lol. Heaton Park, Etihad and Hampden Park were magical though.. 3 of the best nights of my life!

Stone Roses are superb. I have all of and love Ian Brown's solo Albums as well. He writes some deadly songs. Unfortunately he is not a great singer live. Although I did see them in Dublin a few years ago on the reunion tour and his voice held up very well. I had an excellent night anyways :-)

Ian brown once told shaun ryder from the happy Monday's, he would cut he's hand off.the roses and the Monday's also had a big rivalry, like blur and oasis.

Great reaction lads!!! Okay, BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE I’ve seen is The Stone Roses, Fools Gold live at Heaton Park... 13mins long and a massive jam out session kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPWqKuuiZh7h5o Oh and I GUARANTEE you’ve never seen a crowd like it.... They waited about 15 years for this gig and it shows. It’s worth watching just to see a crowd smash down the walls to break an entry and climbing on the ice cream van😂 Generally speaking though, Ian Brown’s vocals ruin their live gigs, but in the studio he sounds like an angel!

Yeah, Ian isn't great live singing but sounds great on record, imo The Stone Roses definitely have a bigger cult following than Oasis, especially in Manchester and the rest of the North of England... and from this video obviously in Scotland too!! Ian's solo stuff is great too. Try listening to First world problems, dolphins were monkeys or F.E.A.R the collab with Unkle, that is probably his most popular. Keep the reactions coming guys, I love you listening to are great bands from the late 80s and the 90s!!

Ian was in Dispute with squire at the time on playing roses tracks at gigs. brown never played any roses songs live at solo gigs until squire did at his own solo gigs I've been to see brown live 5 times before t in the park I'm sure this is the first time he sang them live since the roses toured absolutely amazing.

I saw the stone roses at Heaton Park in Manchester. Everyone knew all the lyrics and everyone was singing along to the bass lines and guitar riffs too. Also got to see Liam gallaghers band and also the wailers (as in Bob Marley and the wailers). Fantastic night.

Stone Roses r great with almost no bad songs at all. I recommend checking out Love Spreads or Fools Gold next. I would also say that if ur going to react to live versions go for 2012 gigs onward, it’s hard to find many high quality recordings from the earlier days.
