Yeah I get ya. I think it works here, it adds to the kind of psychedelic feel, but it does take some getting used to

Yeah i know what you mean, i much prefer Noels tone to Liams. But great indie tune, the drumming & guitaring is ace.

I love that grating, abrasive voice of his. Always felt Liam was the attitude and Noel was the melody. I was getting smashed with Oasis growing up as my 2 older brothers were obsessed and I honestly preferred what was going on in America at that time. I loved Stone Roses and Ride but I came to appreciate Oasis later on when it wasn't being forced upon me. Just fantastic songwriters but always felt they weren't particularly about musicianship. There's a simplicity and directness that is undeniably brilliant and can't be overstated. I prefer his solo stuff to Noel's I must say which seems more fanciful and frilly.

Never liked Oasis........they're a couple of plebs that write pleb rock for the plebs that hang out in pleb town.

Love your podcast Justin!!!! Thank you for covering one of my most favorite bands the Stone Roses. I am with you...John Squire and Liam Gallagher are a great match. Praying they put out a whole album and tour the US. Thank you Justin for such a cool podcast and for being consistent with it.

I think the drummer was very central to the roses' sound also

yep. Reni is amazing. his playing and harmonies. How he managed to harmonize with Brown who had intonation issues is impressive.

You saw what happened when they moved away from songs centred around reni and manis grooves….

@bw6316 i like the 2nd album, its heavy but yeh mani and reni are buried under the guitars abit

I like the tune apart from the bit where Liam lists the colours of the Rainbow which reminds me of the kids "i can see a rainbow" song. Nevertheless, a world where legendary Roses guitarist John Squire, and former Oasis frontman Liam G team up is a better world. It reminds me of all sorts of things. The Stones, The Beatles, The Roses and Oasis rolled into one. Looking forward to hearing more of their collaborations. Peace & Love ❤

Justin sang the colours in the tune of that song. He just got the “olive” wrong, as it’s “purple and orange and blue”. Why is a 50 year old memory so accessible? It must be because it’s a musical memory.

So glad you're putting some light on this (not like Liam needs the help :)) - I came across this a week ago after wondering why the Stone Roses aren't making any more music and found about what John Squire was up to and heard a couple tracks he did with Liam. Really great combo I think and hopefully they'll keep at it!

I love this tune too! Loved Oasis and liked The Stone Roses. Liam still has that awesome walk and stance. One of my biggest disappointments is having tickets, for what turned out to be, the last Oasis tour in Toronto. Family member got sick and I had to sell them 2 days before the show. We have very similar musical tastes Justin!❤

That first Stone Roses album was such a banger. Amazing band, but sadly they never did recapture that magic. This track actually gives me some Rain (by the Beatles) vibes.

I saw them live and they were the worst band I’ve ever seen. The singer opened up saying we were “lucky to be witnessing greatness.”

@@RossLeesonIan brown can not sing live to save his life. Liam is a far superior vocalist.

... and, as we all know, Oasis were known as Rain, named after the Beatles Song, before Noel joined. It's all coming full circle.

Stumbled alone this by chance, but boy, as someone not musical, I found it mesmerising listening to you de-construct the song, just shows how technical music is when you peep below the surface. I loved this vid and the song, and nice to see a musician door the cap to other musicians 🙏🏼❤🙏🏼
