Y'all have a great national treasure in those canals. Even if I did live on the proper side of the Atlantic my current health would prevent living the liveaboard cruising life, but it is plain to see the landscape is beautiful, the boats are interesting, and there is community among the boaters; which leads me to close with the opening, those canals are a great national treasure.

Loved this vlog. My grandparents had a boat moored just around the corner from Tixall wide near Great Haywood. My grandad built it himself from wood. We would go out with them for day trips as children, picking strawberries at a nearby farm. I can remember clearly even now 30yrs later, helping my nan with the locks and driving the boat beside my grandad.

Even with the wetsuit on, it's quite....refreshing, when you first get in! I had a swim in the sea this week at North Berwick, it was fine once I warmed up and left me feeling amazing! Next time I buy a wetsuit, I'm gonna buy a full length one!!!! Take care & stay safe.
@LiveaboardLifestyle3 жыл бұрын
Refreshing is a good word for it! Definitely get a full length one! Thanks 😊

Good for you conquering you fear of deeper water. Try floating on your back, it’s helpful when you get tired, keeping your head out of water and minimal action from the legs. Soon you’ll be trying all techniques of swimming.
@margaretbedwell583 жыл бұрын
I love to float on my back and I also find a side stroke is restful as well.

I think that you are very brave and brilliant to face your fear. I share the same fear and growing up in Canada swimming in deep dark lakes was scary. As a child I would imagine all sorts of things swimming below me!

Hello Again ! Wonderful video braver than us oldies that water looked really cold and we do love our warmth . The logistics of getting the road transporter , the crane and everything else involved to happen on the same day is nerve wracking to say the least . Hopefully we will be about by the second week in September . Take care ATB George & Jenny

Hi, good video its good to push yourself, I am a kayaker and I would like to make a friendly suggestion, have you thought about swimming wearing a Kayaking buoyancy aid? also regarding currents rivers can change very quickly it would be worth investing in a throw line for your partner to carry, there is some good kayaking KZbin videos to show to use them
@LiveaboardLifestyle3 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon thanks for your suggestion. It’s a good idea. I have one from when I had my kayak 😊

I have a similar unease about murky water, but I find swim goggles help, even though they dont really make much difference. Somehow the goggles make me more comfortable.

Nice to know there are more people like me! Curious thing is, it alternates at seemingly random intervals between being okay with getting in water where you can't see through it & wanting absolutely nothing to do with water you can't see through. And I'm almost 60 now and _Still_ don't know why I'm like that.

Have a look into open water swimming they have groups that do this to. You can also get swim wetsuits to and wear a colour swim cap for better visual. I used to wear swim gloves to they helped. Swim wetsuit will be more buoyancy.

I would love to have a nice place to swim like you have there. It looks so peaceful and refreshing. I have always loved the water. Maybe you could try some goggles and put your face in the water. Sometimes you can see the bottom better because you are not looking at the reflection from the sun on the water. Just a thought. Have a Blessed day.

There at 13:47 talking about wondering how deep it is there; I've seen depth finders, along with fish finders, in sporting goods stores. And ... it is a pretty good bet that I'd be the kind of person who'd run the boat in to something while obsessing with the depth finder! _(Hey, don't blame me, blame my autism!)_ ;D
