Do you have the written programs of these operation? Looks like a good lesson to start with my Emco

Probably have the program on my computer but not certain without checking. Are you using the original Emco G code system or has your lathe been upgraded to some other operating system ? If Emco does it have the M codes on the labelling ?

i watched your video with the automatic tool changer(ATC),,, i am wondering what is the maximum diameter work piece that can be turned on the O.D. using a right hand tool plus the live center and passing over the carriage,, will it handle a 77mm (approx-3inches) diameter piece of stock or is it way less than that? thank you,, love the videos

Max diameter that can be turned over cross slide is 60mm. (30mm from top surface of cross slide to centre) Distance between centres is 310mm. Swing over bed 100mm. Hope this helps.

Super vidéo 🙂, pourriez-vous m'aider sur la manière de mémoriser les longueurs outils ainsi que de la prise d'origine pièce (EMCO COMPACT 5 CNC). Bien à vous.

Now what about the method used to set up the machine prior to running the G-code. How do you calibrate everything so the machine "knows" what the relation between the cutting tool and the work piece is? I'm feeling quite dense while I try to sort this out with my new-to-me Compact 5CNC PC running under Mach3. Thank you.

You need to set the Tool OFFSETS, that is the relationship of the cutting point from T1 to the other tools T2, T3 etc. Using the Emco program to do this you can use the Emco Tool Scope or with a RH tool T1 in the holder face off the end of a bar and set the Z axis to 00, turn the bar diameter and set the X axis 00. The corner of the faced end and turned bar are now the X00 and Z00. Change to T2 and manually move both axis until the cutting point of the tool is positioned at the Zero Point X00 Z00, the digital readout will now show the tool offset to enter in the Tool Library for T2, DON'T reset the readout but fit T3 and repeat the process to arrive at the tool offsets for other tools, record the readings for all tools. The tool offsets are written as INCREMENTAL moves. As long as these tools remain fitted to their holders the offsets will remain the same until a new or different nose radius insert is fitted, or if using HSS until you regrind the cutting edge. Tool wear will make a small difference to the tool offsets but for most hobby work it can be ignored, if running a batch you can measure the work and adjust tool axis offsets as required to keep parts on size. Check Tool Offsets in the Manual for more info, in Mach you may need to set a Home point for tool changes to take place, if so you can use this position for tool offsets using the required G code in the tool change commend line, check Mach documentation for details.

hi again mr! :) could you tell me please how many holes the spindle encoder disc have??? thanks thanks!!
@ukmwg
@ukmwg 3 жыл бұрын
There isn't a control disc, the turret movements are controlled electronically by the DNC board, it does not know which tool position is active. M06 is used to activate a toolchange, the number of positions (1 to 5) needed to move to the desired tool is entered in the Tool number column, the turret then moves by the entered number of tool positions, stopping and reversing at each tool position. Remember it is tool moves not tool number. With electronic knowledge the board components can be fine tuned to achieve the quickest possible tool position changes. If you join the iO group at groups.io/g/Emco5CNClathe there is detailed information on this procedure in the Files section that you can download FOC.

@ukmwg 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexandernoname1391 Without checking I think there are 100 holes for rpm and 1 slot on the circumference for signal, Undo the belt cover and check the number easily, you will feel the slot on the OD of the disc.

Why is your tool cutting on the way out?
@ukmwg
@ukmwg 4 жыл бұрын
Hi John, these videos were taken before the gib strips were replaced on the Z axis. The Emco G84 turning cycle doesn't have any X axis clearance added for the return move but on the final pass it does the Z towards the chuck and then moves out in the X axis before returning to the tool start position in both X and Z, so the tool doesn't drag on the finished job.
