Nice one Cliff. My V10P had some maintenance last week. Cross slide and saddle off for a thorough clean, new cross slide lead screw bearings and oil changes in both gearboxes. Yours is looking spanky. Best wishes, Dean.

A good trick for slotting Cliff is put two blades in the saw.

Hi cliff. The black Cover is ment to move with the crosslide. From Brian west germany p.s cliff down load the use Manuel it will help you keep going looking good😊😊😊

I don't think so, if it moves it will allow chips into the cross slide screw.

Mine slides with the cross slide. There is a stop at the rear to prevent it going too far. As it slides, it prevents chips getting onto the cross slide lead screw.
@65cj554 ай бұрын
@@retromechanicalengineer Mine doesn't, it's there to cover the screw in full.
@retromechanicalengineer4 ай бұрын
@@65cj55 it must. Otherwise the top slide wouldn't move. It doesn't go far, as there is a rectangular window let into it that the lead screw nut fits into. The cover sits in grooves let into the saddle, which allows it to articulate.

@@retromechanicalengineer No mine just has a slot for the nut, even at full extension the srew is never exposed.

I had a similar machine cast piece break years ago and preheated,DC stick welded and peened, post heated while hammered peening with success.
