That c86 board looks like a cool addition. I havent heard of that before. Maybe ill give it a try on my mill conversion. Is there an adapter for the driver side of the cable that goes with it? Didnt see one on cnc4pc website.

Hello, For my new C.N.C I want to connect LICHUAN LCDA86H drivers in closed loop on the Acorn board, but I cannot find the diagrams to connect 2 Drivers in parallel on the Y axis. Thank you for your help.

So the regular header pul+ and dir+ are 24v output and the db25 route accesses those signals via the 5v logic instead? It's never made clear but from your suggestion to just use the supplies 5v and source negatives from the header that seems to be wiring like a relay. I'm not much of an electronics guy but I consider myself competent. I know when buying a Chinese 1.8kw servo drive I was asked "5v or 24v" and in the manual to my hybrid steppers it suggests using a resistor if 24v so I'm guessing I should use the db25 route. Surprised they didn't include a header to access the 5v directly, seems safer.

Chris, 5v logic drives tend to be easier to wire to the DB25. If using the header, then +5vdc to +pul, +for and -PUL to ST, -Dir to DR header terminals. Leave ENA disconnected at first as most drives default to enabled. If you connect it without inverting it in the ADVANCED tab in the Wizard, or changing it's state in the drive manufacturer's software, when CNC12 is reset and ready, you may actually disable it and not get movement

@@martyscncgarage5275 Appreciate the reply. Got a "new to me" pre-broken Novakon NM-135 for cheap which is essentially an old Syil X4/Sieg KX3. I think mine differs from yours because it had a BLDC motor stock, no luck with it though so I got a 1.5kw 3k ac servo coming tomorrow. My 135 also has standard tapered gibs with one adjustment screw at each end of the X, Y and Z. Is your Syil a BT30 spindle? My only complaint is the R8 on mine so I'm stuck with TTS which in my experience has poor runout/price compared to cheap BT40 holders I have used in past.

Hi Marty, An off topic question. How is your street rod project coming along? I can see it in the background of this video. Thanks, Scott

Hi, Can you say any more about "5 volt logic drives should be connected to the DB 25 an not the header"? Does it not work both ways? I can't seem to find any other reference to that, outside of this video. i have DM556Y and would rather not use a breakout board if I can use the headers. they're open loop.

It's us better to use 5v logic drives on the DB25 with a DB25 male breakout board you can buy in Amazon for less than $10. You can try the header. Run +5vdc from Acorn PS to drive +pul and +for. Then -pul to Acorn ST1 and -dir to Acorn header DR1. Do not connect the enable. Lost more on this if you would go to the Acorn users forum and search for that topic

Thanks Marty for your collaboration, I am interested in connecting the C86 Connection Board for the Acorn controller For DMM and Servo DYN2 motors. since I saw it in a video about a year ago more or less and all the necessary components to make the respective configuration. Hi Marty, Thanks for another great video. I really appreciate your content. I am using the stepperonline CL57T driver, which is just a rebranded CS-D508. I just wanted to make a point for any newbies who might wonder why your wiring in this video is different from the diagram for the CS-D508 ("S15032-ACORN_rev4_Multiple_LeadShine_CS-D508") on Centroids site (www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy/downloads/acorn_schematics/centroid_acorn_hookup_schematics.zip). Most people watching your video will realize that the difference is just a matter of sinking vs sourcing, and that either wiring method will work correctly. Thanks again for the great videos!

Marty just checked back in . Nobody is watching your videos? It is the most dry boring attempt at selling centroid i have ever seen. Oh and my mach3 with the $15 ebay board is working great and making me lots of money. Get in the wind there Bro LOL

You are certainly entitled to your control choice. Mach 3 is obsolete and no longer supported. Centroid continually improving their hardware and software with new features. I appreciate your opinion!

@@tomhutchins1046 Tom, Mach 3 was at end of life several years ago. I'm ok, certainly we all have a choice to choose what we like. I have nothing against the other control software out there. Best of luck in whatever you choose to do, but have fun!

@@martyscncgarage5275 LOL its not an orange i does not rot. Its not milk there is no exp date. if it works great 10 years ago it will work great now i dont see how you can ask for more than what mach will do once you get it set up right on the right computer. There are experienced mach users that are still discovering new features in mach3. But if you selling centroid you will follow the company line.
