I learned to play Brass at Carolina Crown, in early part of 93, I was offered a chance to march BLuecoats just as season started and Crown graciously allowed me to go up to Bluecoats as that was my ageout year and a chance to march a top 12 was hard to pass up and Kevin Smith told me that he would be mad if I did not take that chance being that I was an ageout. Crown will always hold a special place in my heart and I will cheer them on when ever I can its hard when they compete with my Bluecoats but that is DCI and competition.

In my experience we heard random out of context notes. ‘Right there’ ‘wow that’s difficult’ ‘that was (word I couldn’t hear at the time)’ However I tended to be a bit hyper focused on performing, not to mention my line had the habit drilled into us that we ignore them in their entirety. To the point I clearly remember the answer to someone asking ‘what if they get in our way?’ Being ‘run them over’
@akareject3 жыл бұрын
I only marched in high school, but we were very competitive (state champs baby woo!). And it was back when judges were on the field with the performers. The instructors repeatedly told us, "If a judge is in your way, scream 'move!' and continue with the performance. If you hit them and kill them, it is their fault." LOL But we also marched shows like Buddy Rich's Channel One Suite and we were flying across the field most of the time. The truth is, you just don't have time to watch out for judges when you are jazz running across the field at 150 BPM.
