Yeah, it's weird seeing notes above the middle of the staff with stems up, but percussion usually has all the stems in the same direction.

I use to write drum parts in midi using staff notation. It's not quite the same. Instead of using markings for loud and soft parts and accents and ghost note, you have to change the note velocity. Printing this out for a drummer would be quite useless though.

Usually In a part for a wind instrument the stems go up if the note is below the middle line, and down if it’s above the middle line (with some exceptions for note groupings). that is probably why it’s like that for most of the transcriptions.

About the people who didn't look up how to transcribe drumlines - remember that they charged $5. I they have to spend the time to learn how to transcribe these drums they are getting payed peanuts on the hour. Also I feel like the "they're the same picture" scene from the office half the time he does the "they wrote" vs "I wrote" segments. I definitely can catch some of them, but lots are over my head.
