As a Roblox studio developer, blaming data loss and similar issues on Roblox is very stupid as even when Roblox is down data loss could be prevented by just wrapping :GetAsync in pcall and player:SetAttribute("DataLoaded", true) if it returns successful, and when the player is removing dont :SetAsync unless player:GetAttribute("DataLoaded"). The DataStoreService api is not able to be controlled by the developers directly so when Roblox is down and such, sure it wont save any new data, but at least fail safes can prevent data loss.

The problem with fishing simulators in Roblox is they don't simulate fishing. They have the core concepts, but like an AI misinterpreting the original meaning because it only has surface level knowledge, these games ironically turn out shallow in depth. In real life you need to keep in mind the different locations and bait, as well as the types of rods and cast nets. Fishing is more involved than simply holding a rod, you have to pay attention to the subtle signs to avoid losing bait. If your game is JUST fishing, I think some of those things can be added as features.

The only thing I can say is that certain fish behave differently once they’re hooked, but in the end it’s still the same game of hook, line, sinker. That is the point of fishing. Fisch as a game is EXTREMELY simplistic for a fishing game, no doubt about it, but as a concept it *really* is simple. Fishing as a whole is a game of patience, temperance, whilst also being about appreciating the environment around you and connect with others.

You can make some very interesting and fun gameplay by those tug of wars, a pure battle of mental attrition as you fight to catch a fish. But in truth, I don’t know if that is the developer’s intentions with Fisch. They said it was a passion project, and it carries the dual definition of a project done with pure unadulterated drive to make the best thing you can (that’s human nature for the most part) AND also a project you do on the side from your main priorities to delve into your interests and develop your skills. This is my biggest gripe with Eclipse’s review, he simply poked holes (which reasonably so for most points) and acted rather condescending to ANYONE who played this game, not once did he think about what COULD make the game more fun besides just saying it needs “better mechanics.” I understand the argument of “early in development” and “passion project” not absolving criticism, but it GIVES more context and nuance to a game and potentially understanding WHY things are sloppily done, and how it COULD be so much better. You should strive for better games without smacking down developers who are just getting into the field, Roblox as a platform IS the most easiest, and most accessible means of making games, and I believe games SHOULD be pushed out even if they aren’t great BECAUSE this is how developers can grow better. Proper feedback from players and reviewers is what can turn games great, not smack down pieces that ridicule anyone who ever played the game.

If there's a shit game on the platform and a slightly better one appears - it doesn't mean that its excused from being objectively boring, nor does it mean that your mindset should be this way. The response the developer did was Just masterful works of social engineering, the Game dev almost hit every single empathetic manipulation trigger there is. •giving appreciation while passively giving an insult "clearly reflect you've only reached level 6" but saying thank you after that suddenly makes it seem nice •Mentioning of Life, family, and School status, as everyone relates to this •passion project mention, same thing as calling the game a "beta" or a "test version" which is a lazy Excuse to have a video game thats barely a game be more acceptable somehow •The developer obviously is using a more positive choice of words, opposd to eclipses negative criticism to make it SEEM like the kinder person is more vulnerable than he is, therefore people support him more Seriously, if clicking 24/7 while standing still was so entertaining. Why not just listen to fishing sounds while sleeping? It takes zero effort and on the plus side that you dont burn your eyes out from staying up so late grinding Cookie clicker 2.0, so that "games" like this wont be so successful to the point more game developers CHOOSE to use a similar game formula to these types of games. fun fact: The list for the boats could been in any order the developer wanted WITHOUT any programming. He could of just changed the name of the boat Gui element to have a number at the start, and use that to order them. For Example: "3_DuckBoatThingy," or "5_Barrell." Eclipse aside, the amount of replies his fans have made shaming people just for their intrests irks me. I play this game but frankly, the game does have shortcomings and Eclipses criticisms are not all wrong. However, this game does have its appeal as a 'pseudo-hangout game' and fans bashing others because they themselves dont see the appeal is nothing short of being close minded and unnecessary And do note that i also (did) play bf and yba so it goes to show that people can enjoy a wide variety of games and theres no need to shame people for having 'bad taste'. 6:56 the worst part is that you are gonna probably die fighting for this because it's a losing battle for now, especially when you tend to come off as too harsh. Roblox's audience has a lot of little kids without standards, and I don't know why you would expect little children to have any standards when, in this day and age, roblox is probably their first source of gaming. I'm also under the impression that until the slop games get these kids hooked into wasting their parents' money, they don't want to cross the entry barrier of a paid game on steam or even roblox itself, perhaps because a lot of the time they just can't (not helped by the factor that, for all i know, not all of these kids are even playing on pc, which removes more options among these paid games). I also feel like another part of why people stoop to games like fisch and Sol's RNG because those grinds give those "games" more "replayability" than the actually good roblox games (I quoted what I did because it's not a good argument). Now as for the people without standards that aren't little kids, that's a different story, but I suppose that a lot of them seek these "ganes" (that are very good at killing their time) due to having a lot of free time or sucking at finding and maintaining their attention towards actually good games...

I played a fishing game on the ps3 that went really hard. Basically you could mix and match gear to catch specific or bigger fish and your camera was at your bait and with different button presses and stick movements will do certain reel patterns and when you hook a fish you have to do quick stick movements to hook it and THEN, you have to fight the fish which is a whole other minigame and the longer you go reeling the fish in successfully without it ever overpowering you fills a meter that allows you to reel it in extremely fast. To say that fishing games can't have mechanics is just not true.

@@chazmonk64 I’d say this is the EXTENT to how far you can make things mechanical wise, because in all honesty fishing as a concept IS the repetition of casting your line, and waiting for the fish to bite. I’ve been out fishing, the experience is more so the calm environment and talking with others as you await that hook, but THAT in of itself just at a base makes it the same thing either way, no *technical change* in mechanics, just the same thing. More room for interesting gameplay, but still the same thing, which is.. kinda the point of a fishing experience.

For the people who gonna say " erhmmm there's no way to change the minigame" Here are 5 ideas I came up with in 5 minutes: 1: A fish jigsaw puzzle where if you solve it, you get the fish 2: The fish is jumping out of the water and if you click on it 3 times, you catch it 3: A fish memory game where you gotta find the pairs of fish body part cards and fit them in the right way 4: Reeling the fish in like an avoiding obstacles game where you just hold one of the buttons and if you hit any obstacle, you loose the fish 5: Those different colored sand games but it's the fish's parts in aquariums, if you fit the parts correctly together, you get the fish 6: Find the fish in a large aquarium/the sea floor and if you find it 3 times, you get it 7: You see the fish swimming from an overhead look and you have 3 tries to catch is with a fishing net, if you fail 3 times the fish escapes 8:From a 2d perspective you lower your fishing hook down and you have to find and catch the fish AND YES I WAS BORED AND NO IF ANYONE ASKS, I WAS AT THE 10 MINUTE MARK BY THE TIME I WROTE THIS

some of the comments on that video were genuinely baffling. this video is incredibly refreshing because I had the same thought process as you reading said comments and was surprised only a few people saw through it. also calling out the developers manipulative response was sorely needed. the bar for these people is in hell's basement and there's no point in arguing further for that very reason. I've played great early access games and KNOW that they can be good. It's a reasonable expectation that has been met MANY times before and will continue to be met. That's where my bar is set. Not on Skibidi Toilet OBBY OBBY OBBY or on cheap money grabs, but on the actually good games. And even then, my bar isn't even that high. I'll happily admit I've liked my share of objectively stupid and mindless roblox games but I'll at least admit that's what they are. Hey, level 168 fisch player here. This game sucks. Its like sols rng but you aren't afk. No fluid to the "gameplay" either. Get fish, sell fish, get rod, repeat. All with the minor mechanic of flexing your months worth of voxels. Its like watered down bee swarm with more microtransactions and premium farms. Then don't get me started on the jump from steady rod to mythic rod or trident rod. 11k credits to 110k credits or 201k credits (and 100% of the cureent hardest bestiary) I don't know about you, but to me that sounds like premium payouts galore.
