Definitely do a ton of research before you take the big step, and make sure to ignore basically everything anyone at a big chain petstore tells you. Petsmart, petco, and similar. They are told garbage to sell us crap we don't need that will potentially really harm the animal, and likely don't have any healthy animals in their care. If you're gonna go for it (highly recommended, they are fantastic creatures) I'd say find a reputable breeder nearest you.
@susanhigh51903 жыл бұрын
@@DanyaDisko I didn't think it would take as much research as its turned into. I want to make sure I have the proper environment set up before I even looking into getting the dragon. I defiantly want to buy from a reputable person and would never consider a chain.

What amazes me is how do they even survive in the wild without a human plucking out their shed/other ooze? And 2, I’ll bet most folks don’t know how much personal care these creatures require. Your last video about sperm plugs really helped me out with one of my reptiles. I don't keep beardies, but just knowing that this is a thing that can happen to reptiles clued me in when one of my corn snakes developed a bump right behind his cloaca and when I did some investigating I saw the dark end poking out of the hemipenis pocket. I ended up taking him to the vet because I couldn't get it out on my own. 3 feet of wriggly noodle is hard to keep still with only 2 hands. Even with two people holding onto him he put up quite a fight. XD He's alright now and I'm keeping a close eye on it because he seems prone to getting them for whatever reason (he's not stunted but I don't have any history on him since I got him from a shelter) Long story short: Thanks to your vid I knew what was going on and didn't freak out thinking it was something like cancer ^^

A friendly tip- you can find tweets with longer, thinner bent tips at craft stores. They’re in several departments. I’d check by diamond painting supplies at stores that carry stuff for doing your own designs (where I live, that means JoAnns Fabrics but I’m unsure on several big chains). They’re handy for getting in tight spots. You can also find very precise, lighted, bent tip tweezers in womens beauty supplies. They’d make getting in those tight spots easier.

How do they not get their glands clogged up in the wild? What do they do? Does that happens in the wild?
@Animal1Guy3 жыл бұрын
in the wild they dont get stunted since they are never forced to me in an area to small for them
@hexxuss13 жыл бұрын
In the wild, beardies aren't specifically bred for certain colours, skin types (leatherbacks, silkies, dunners, etc), and they're very thin. There was only a limited number of them first brought into the states & not many since then, so there's inbreeding in there too. Not to mention that in the wild, I'm sure they just mate to get rid of them lol.
@animak7573 жыл бұрын
Also in the wild they use their glands more ofthen. The underside of the beardie is "massajed" when they run over rocks, branches, etc, and plugs are forced out before they are formed. They try to reproduce, they mark territory... Not in captivity. (But the other reasons are also true, it's a combination of all). Lastly, in the wild... Any animal with health problems usually dies. It's natural that not all them live untill they're adults or seniors.

Thank you so very much for all you do. Just found you and your info has already been invaluable for my newly adopted beardie (just over 24 hours in fact). The rescue failed to do an exam. His plugs were so bad they had curled inward and were growing IN. I removed several inches but there is a lot more. He was tensing so I kept loosing the plugs. His femoral pores are also a mess. Have seen some odd rhythmic twitching that has me very concerned. Mouth rot and a poorly healed tail stub with bone visible rounds out the known issues. I have zero clue how this rescue missed all of this. Heading to a Vet as this hurts my heart a bit too much. I hope he will be ok.

This has become my favorite channel on KZbin, the quality of video, the information, all of it is just so good, I've also never seen such a big youtuber answer every single comment, you really really deserve so much more, the reptile KZbin game really is unfair, I'll try commenting every time to help :)

For the silver play button reveal, you could make costumes for all of your little friends that represent different KZbin channels that you watch or recommend. Or of your favorite episodes that you have made. Lol

I didn’t know bearded dragons had this problem! I checked his vent and there it was! I pulled it out and it was about an inch. I think it was shorter because I had accidentally removed some of it a couple months ago thinking it was built up urate! Thank you for making this video, my bearded dragon is looking pretty relieved after removing it!
